Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand said RB Mikel Leshoure, OT Johnny Culbreath and DT Nick Fairley likely will receive suspensions for their arrests this offseason. Lewand said he expects NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to let the legal process play out before deciding on a punishment for the players.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz would not say Sunday, April 22, whether he has spoken with OT Johnny Culbreath, DL Nick Fairley or RB Mikel Leshoure, three players arrested and cited for possession of marijuana in the past three months. "(We'll) address it," Schwartz said. "We're not happy that the player have put themselves and the organization in that light. There's a lot of lessons we learn from it."

Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand said the team expects RB Mikel Leshoure, OT Johnny Culbreath and DT Nick Fairley to be in attendance for the start of offseason workouts even though each was arrested on marijuana-related charges earlier this offseason. Lewand said he believes all three players deserve a second chance.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said Thursday, Feb. 23, that he spoke with OL Johnny Culbreath after his arrest for marijuana possession last month, but declined further comment. Culbreath was charged with simple possession and paid a fine to close the case.

Detroit Lions OT Johnny Culbreath has spent much of his time playing one of the two tackle positions, but generally, left tackle. Head coach Jim Schwartz said the potential is there for Culbreath, who is 6-foot-5, 322 pounds. "He came from a smaller school and didn't have the exposure," Schwartz said, "but again he's flashed everything he needs to do to be in the NFL."
