Orioles | Jonathan Schoop finding power stroke

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 05:48:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-4 with a home runs and two RBI during the Orioles' 8-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is making an impact since returning from the disabled list Sunday, July 5. He has a .321/.352/.560 slash line with 12 runs, five home runs and 10 RBI over 88 plate appearances through 26 games. He also has an extra-base hit in each of his past four games. FantasyScore players have a nice value target on their hands, and seasonal owners looking for help at the keystone position could take a flier on Schoop in deep leagues.

Orioles | Baltimore unwilling to part with prospects

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 09:22:11 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Justin Upton is of interest to the Baltimore Orioles, but the Orioles are hesitant to part with SP Kevin Gausman, RP Mychal Givens or 2B Jonathan Schoop in any deal for a veteran bat.

Fantasy Tip: A move to Baltimore would surely make Upton ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) more valuable to his fantasy owners, although he oddly has better hitting splits at pitcher-friendly Petco Park in 2015.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop sitting Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:47:14 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 28. 2B Ryan Flaherty is starting at the keystone and hitting ninth against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran.

Fantasy Tip: Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is useful for some salary cap relief for daily lineups, but he won't provide much else, especially while hitting at the bottom of the lineup. He's hitting just .230 (41-for-178) with four home runs and 22 RBI on the year.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop on the bench

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:05:09 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Friday, July 24. 2B Ryan Flaherty will start at second base and is hitting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) probably will be back in the lineup in the next game or two. Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting .250 in limited playing time this month, but owners should be able to find better options to use.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop with results

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 08:06:22 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is 2-for-6 (.333) with two homers and five RBI in his career against the starter Thursday, July 23, New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka.

Fantasy Tip: It's an extremely small sample size, but the two hits leaving the park make it notable. Schoop ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has a .275-3-7 line this month and is a good plug-and-play option on FantasyScore today.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop stays hot

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 16:42:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 9-3 win over the Detroit Tigers Sunday, July 19, and he has recorded multiple hits in all three games since the All-Star break.

Fantasy Tip: The sample size is small because injuries have limited Schoop ($3,100) to just 18 games, but he has been productive when in the lineup. Don't hesitate to use him as a source of cap relief at FantasyScore until he cools off.

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 13:36:51 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is out of the lineup Saturday, July 11, with 2B Ryan Flaherty hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Flaherty isn't much of an offensive option on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop sitting out

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 16:43:02 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 7. 2B Ryan Flaherty is starting at the keystone and hitting ninth against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson.

Fantasy Tip: Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will likely back up Schoop at second base the majority of the time, but he's worth owning as bench depth in deep AL leagues. Flaherty is a low-end second base option as a player that will give you nice salary cap relief.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop homers in return

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 18:35:50 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (knee) hit a home run in his first at-bat since coming of the 60-day disabled list Sunday, July 5, against the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) had three homers and seven RBI in the first nine games of the season before landing on the DL. He immediately reminded everyone of his power potential, and he offers nice upside for the price at FantasyScore.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop to play Sunday

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 14:41:13 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (knee) will likely be activated from the disabled list to start Sunday, July 5, against the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) went 9-for-34 with two doubles and four home runs during a 10-game minor league rehab assignment. It will be Schoop's first major league start since April 17, but he'll be worth immediate FantasyScore consideration due to his potential.
