Orioles | Jonathan Schoop goes deep twice

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 21:16:15 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored in an 11-5 win over the Texas Rangers Friday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop is slugging 0.686 so far this season, and his above average power for his position combined with Baltimore's powerful lineup makes him worthy of a starting spot in just about all formats.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop not available for trade

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 13:26:10 -0800

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop has been the subject of some trade inquiries this offseason, but the Orioles have told teams he is not available.

Fantasy Tip: Health has been Schoop's biggest obstacle to fantasy stardom so far in his brief major-league career. In only 86 games last year, the 24-year-old belted 15 homers, which projects to 28 over a full season - an elite number at the keystone corner. Assuming good health in the Orioles' stacked lineup, Schoop could flirt with 25-plus home runs and be an extreme value in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop completely healthy

Sat, 12 Dec 2015 11:49:47 -0800

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (hand), who had his 2015 season ended prematurely because of a right hand contusion, said he is completely healthy and able to do his regular offseason workouts.

Fantasy Tip: The 24-year-old Schoop hit .279 with 15 home runs and 39 RBIs in 86 games last year. He should be able to hit 20+ homers over the course of a full season and should be selected in the middle rounds of all fantasy formats.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop receives positive news

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 13:39:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (knee) received a positive report from the MRI arthrogram on his knee.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop had a very nice season with the Orioles despite missing some time with injuries. He hit .279 (85-for-305) with 15 home runs and 39 RBI and should firmly be on the radar of fantasy owners in all leagues as a power-hitting second base option with 20-homer potential over a full year.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop to miss final game

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 10:25:17 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (hand, knee) is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda Sunday, Oct. 4. 2B Ryan Flaherty will start at second base and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) will have the offseason to recover from his injuries. Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is not a great fantasy option, and owners should be able to find better options.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop to undergo tests

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 10:06:47 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (hand, knee) will undergo a second X-ray on his hand Saturday, Oct. 3, as well as an MRA exam on his knee Monday, Oct. 5. He has been bothered by swelling recently.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is unlikely to play again this year and can be ignored in FantasyScore. Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will probably see most, if not all, of the playing time at the keystone position for the rest of the regular season and should be viewed strictly as a source of cap relief.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop not starting Game 1

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 07:24:56 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the New York Yankees Saturday, Oct. 3. 2B Ryan Flaherty will start at second base against SP Ivan Nova and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) likely will be in the lineup for the second game, but owners will need to check the lineup. Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has only three hits in his last seven games and is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop receives good news

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 16:10:56 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop's (hand) X-rays on his hand came back negative.

Fantasy Tip: It's good news for Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap), but will he play again this year with just three games remaining? He has plenty of power for a second baseman and his fantasy stock will be on the rise next season.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop exits early

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 13:14:43 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (hand) left the game with a right hand contusion Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Seasonal owners will want to check back for updates on Schoop's ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) status. Checking for potential replacements is advised because it won't take a significant injury for his season to be finished. Stay tuned.

Orioles | Jonathan Schoop's streak snapped

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 20:15:19 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop went 0-for-4 in a 7-6 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, Sept. 20, snapping his 11-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has been solid all year, and he has decent pop for a second baseman. He remains a viable mid-priced option at FantasyScore.
