Lions | Kevin Ogletree working as No. 3 WR

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 21:44:23 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Kevin Ogletree has been spent time on the top unit each of the first two days of training camp, working as the No. 3 receiver. He is battling WRs Ryan Broyles, Kris Durham, Corey Fuller and Jeremy Ross, among others, for the No. 3 job behind starting WRs Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi singled out Ogletree during the spring as a player that impressed him.

Fantasy Tip: If Ogletree was able to work into a No. 3 role, he would still be more of a WR4 or flex play in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. However, all it would take is one injury to Johnson or Tate for him to see more targets and relevance.

Lions | Calvin Johnson inactive

Sun, 29 Dec 2013 08:35:38 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (knee) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 17 game.

Fantasy Tip: Kris Durham and Nate Burleson likely will have some fantasy value with Johnson out of the lineup. Both could be flex options for owners this week.

Lions | Nate Burleson likely to line up in slot

Fri, 22 Nov 2013 14:57:25 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (forearm) is likely to see most of the snaps out of the slot position in Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, meaning WRs Jeremy Ross and Kris Durham will see less playing time. Burleson practiced in full pads both Thursday, Nov. 21, and Friday, Nov. 22, and is probable for this weekend.

Lions | Nate Burleson won't rush back

Wed, 06 Nov 2013 11:23:45 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (forearm) has returned to practice, but he doesn't sound very optimistic that he'll be back on the field in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears. "I'm not going to sit here and pull an RG3 and talk over what is common sense and that's listen to my coaches and listen to the doctors," Burleson said. "I want to play and that's just me being a competitor. That doesn't mean that my arm is ready to be out there for 60 minutes. I'm going to talk with the coaches, talk with the trainers and talk with the doctors and figure out if this week, next week or the week after is best for me." Burleson did positional drills and wore a Kevlar brace over his arm in practice Tuesday, Nov. 5. He has most of the grip strength back in his left hand.

Fantasy Tip: If we had to guess, we'd think Detroit plays it safe and holds Burleson out for another week. When he returns, he'll be the No. 2 wideout opposite Calvin Johnson, which will limit Kris Durham's value for the rest of the year.
