Seahawks | Seattle will move CBs around

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:18:17 -0700

Seattle Seahawks CBs Richard Sherman, Jeremy Lane and DeShawn Shead likely will be moved around during games so the team can produce favorable matchups against opposing receivers. Sherman lined up against the No. 1 receiver more often last season and could do that again in 2016. Lane plays better against smaller, speedy receivers, while Shead is more effective against bigger, physical receivers.

Seahawks | Richard Sherman sees big things for secondary

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 14:43:31 -0700

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman said he believes the team's secondary is entering their prime because they have more playing experience and have a better understanding of the defense. "We're hitting our prime, that's what I'd say," Sherman said. "I think at the beginning with our infancy, when we started this thing, it was our second, third years in the league. Now we're (in our) sixth, seventh years in the league. We're much more veteran. We have a great understanding of what's being asked of us and how to approach the game."

Seahawks | Richard Sherman talks Marshawn Lynch

Sun, 22 May 2016 16:31:08 -0700

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman said he wouldn't "put anything past" retired RB Marshawn Lynch when asked if he thought Lynch could return to the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: There is always a chance Lynch could decide to return, and in larger leagues, he is worth considering as a last-round lottery ticket.

Cardinals | Fitzgerald to draw Richard Sherman?

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 13:45:59 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald, who leads the Cardinals in catches (55), receiving yards (706) and touchdowns (seven), could be followed by Seattle Seahawks shutdown CB Richard Sherman in Week 10. Sherman has been matched up against the opposing team's best receiver for several games this year, but Fitzgerald wonders who he might be asked to cover this weekend. Fitzgerald is playing mostly out of the slot this year, so Seahawks CBs Cary Williams or DeShawn Shead would need to be used on the outside if Sherman matches up with Fitzgerald.

Fantasy Tip: Sherman is much more comfortable on the outside, so we have a hard time believing he'd match up often with Fitzgerald ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) in the slot. However, a matchup with a stingy Seattle defense through the air means it might be tough for Fitz to return value on FantasyScore.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick to avoid Sherman?

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 12:41:58 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has no touchdowns and six interceptions when targeting a receiver covered by Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman in six career games (five losses) against the Seahawks. Kaepernick faces the Seahawks in Week 7 Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Don't let Kaepernick's ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) solid game last week fool you into thinking he'd be a good contrarian play tonight. The Seahawks remain one of the tougher matchups for opposing quarterbacks, and Kap could be without Anquan Boldin.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers not afraid of Richard Sherman

Tue, 13 Jan 2015 13:26:32 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he's not afraid to throw in the direction of Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman, despite not going Sherman's way once in the two teams' matchup in Week 1. "You have to be aware of him," Rodgers said. "Not scared of him, but you have a ton of respect for him." WR Jordy Nelson was kept opposite of Sherman in Week 1, and Sherman never switched sides of the field. Sherman wound up covering WRs Jarrett Boykin or Davante Adams.

Fantasy Tip: The bigger issue for Rodgers against the Seahawks this weekend will be the health of his left calf, which severely limited his mobility in the divisional round win. If Rodgers once again has trouble escaping the pocket, it could be a rough day for him against one of the best overall defenses in the league.

Cowboys | Dallas plans to attack Richard Sherman

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 09:50:28 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owners Jerry Jones said the team doesn't plan to avoid Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman in Week 6. "With all of the respect we have for him, we're going to have to give him some business over there or we will hurt the balance of what we can do relative to certainly the passing game," Jones said. "We can't run from him. That's easy to say and hard to do. We got to challenge him and make him at least cover us one-on-one and Dez of course is the guy who can do it. So I don't see us compromising the rest of our offense by running from Sherman like that." Sherman is expected to cover WR Dez Bryant, with Bryant mostly lining up on the left side of the field. Sherman has allowed just one touchdown pass this year and was targeted just three times in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: The matchup with Sherman shouldn't force you to sit Bryant in standard leagues. However, at FantasyScore, it's enough to make you consider other big-name receiver options instead of Bryant.

Chargers | Keenan Allen calls Richard Sherman normal

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 10:39:27 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen, who caught five passes for 55 yards in the team's Week 2 win over the Seattle Seahawks, called Seahawks CB Richard Sherman "just a normal guy." QB Philip Rivers was 5-for-5 for 60 yards while throwing to receivers that Sherman was covering.

Chargers | Philip Rivers won't avoid Richard Sherman

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 10:07:17 -0700

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers doesn't plan on avoiding Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman in Week 2. In Week 1, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers didn't target Sherman's side of the field once. "(Sherman) is a great corner. But at the same time, I think you have to be smart. It's not one of the deals that you want to go after him by any means. But our approach is not going to be to completely eliminate (Sherman) and not throw over there any," Rivers said.

Fantasy Tip: Sherman figures to be matched up mostly against Malcom Floyd Sunday, but the Bolts often move their receivers around, so he could cover Keenan Allen on occasion, too. Neither SD receiver is intriguing at FantasyScore this weekend, but Allen ($6,100; 12.2% of cap) is probably your better bet for catches.

Seahawks | Richard Sherman not targeted

Fri, 05 Sep 2014 10:53:20 -0700

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman was targeted zero times by the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 Thursday, Sept. 4. Sherman was tasked with covering WR Jarrett Boykin the entire night, and he never abandoned his assignment. "I used to get pissed off when I was younger," said Sherman. "But now I just stay disciplined, stay sound and assume just I'm making an impact somewhere." QB Aaron Rodgers often looked to be strictly in half-field reads.

Packers | Jordy Nelson busy in Week 1

Fri, 05 Sep 2014 06:24:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson had nine catches for 83 yards and was targeted 14 times in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson posted a solid 17.3 points in Week 1 on FantasyScore. The Packers had him flanked out left with Randall Cobb in the slot a lot. Jarrett Boykin was not thrown to as he was split out right and drew Richard Sherman most of the night. They'll have easier assignments next week against the New York Jets.
