Rockies | Mark Reynolds, Nick Hundley sitting out

Sun, 01 May 2016 12:17:05 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Shelby Miller Sunday, May 1. 1B Ben Paulsen will start at first base and is batting seventh, while C Tony Wolters will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Paulsen has been a bit inconsistent at the plate recently but is still hitting .326 this season and could be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. Wolters has struggled in his limited playing time this season and should be avoided in most leagues.

Rockies | Trevor Story with day off

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 10:01:38 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story is out of the lineup Thursday, April 28, with SS Cristhian Adames hitting second. C Tony Wolters is also hitting eighth with C Nick Hundley sitting out.

Fantasy Tip: Since Hundley returned, he has faced two lefties, while Wolters has been in against two righties. Wolters opened eyes with three quick steals, but he has done little since with a .156-0-3 line on the year. It's worth watching in the coming days, but pass on Wolters. Adames is 4-for-24 (.167) on the year and isn't a real solid option against Juan Nicasio.

Rockies | Trevor Story, Nick Hundley resting

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 14:18:54 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 26. SS Cristhian Adames is starting at shortstop and hitting second, while C Tony Wolters is doing the catching and batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole.

Fantasy Tip: Cole got off to a tough start on the year, but he rebounded nicely and is a daunting matchup for both Adames and Wolters tonight. Both players shouldn't attract much attention in daily setups, even at home in hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Rockies | Colorado sitting two starters

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 12:38:36 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ben Paulsen and C Tony Wolters are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Alex Wood Sunday, April 24. OF Gerardo Parra will start in left field, while OF Brandon Barnes will start in center field and is batting first. C Dustin Garneau will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes is hitting .286 so far this season with three of his six hits being extra base hits. Barnes could be a cheap sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues. Garneau has gone 2-for-7 at the plate this season but is not a great fantasy option.

Rockies | Tony Wolters grabs some pine

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 07:56:36 -0700

Colorado Rockies C Tony Wolters is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 20, with C Dustin Garneau hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Garneau has a .164 average in 73 career at-bats and isn't worth the stream in DFS against Raisel Iglesias.

Rockies | Nick Hundley remains out

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 08:19:18 -0700

Colorado Rockies C Nick Hundley (head) is out of the lineup again Friday, April 15, with C Tony Wolters hitting eighth. OF Ryan Raburn is hitting sixth with 1B Mark Reynolds on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Wolters is 3-for-8 (.375) on the young season with two steals, and he's not a bad low-end flyer against Kyle Hendricks. Raburn is 3-for-9 (.333) with a couple of jacks on the year, and he's a low-end option as well.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon, Nick Hundley out

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 09:35:16 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 14. 1B Ben Paulsen draws a start in left field and is hitting seventh with OF Gerardo Parra moving to center field. Also, 2B DJ LeMahieu is moved to the leadoff spot. C Tony Wolters is behind the plate and batting eighth against San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain.

Fantasy Tip: Most everyone from the Rockies lineup today is desirable in daily formats facing Cain at Coors Field. LeMahieu gains significant value in the leadoff spot, and Paulsen and Wolters are worth looks as cheap sleeper picks against the declining right-hander.

Rockies | Tony Wolters breaks camp as backup catcher

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 12:22:41 -0700

Colorado Rockies C Tony Wolters will serve as the backup catcher to begin the season, manager Walt Weiss announced Tuesday, March 29. "It's quite a story," Weiss said. "We didn't know the kid until spring training started. Over the course of six weeks, he won a lot of people over. That's hard to do in this game."

Fantasy Tip: Wolters has never played above Class AA, so his fantasy value is extremely limited. However, he'll play his home games in hitter-friendly Coors Field, which makes him a low-end option in cavernous mixed, NL-only and two-catcher formats. Daily players will want to keep him in mind as a low-priced flier when he starts home games, too. Wolters has an impressive .407/.429/.704 slash line with five doubles and a home run through 28 plate appearances during spring training.
