Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (knee) will have an MRI on his sore knee Thursday, Aug. 21. Manager Ned Yost said the condition is not considered serious.

Royals | Salvador Perez starting

Tue, 19 Aug 2014 14:38:00 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (knee) is batting third and catching Tuesday, Aug. 19, against the Colorado Rockies. It will be Perez's 112th start behind the plate, which is the most in the majors this season.

Fantasy Tip: Perez has an excellent matchup against Tyler Matzek. Matzek has a 9.60 ERA in August, and he has allowed right-handed hitters to slash .300/.373/.498 against him, with a .379 wOBA. The game is being played at hitter-friendly Coors Field, too. It might be worth spending up to lock Perez in your lineup in daily games.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Perez escaped with a minor injury, and at worst, he should be considered day-to-day. Still, make sure to check on his status for the next few days before inserting him into lineups.
