Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (knee) will catch three innings in extended spring training Saturday, May 26. It will be his first game action since injuring his knee back in March.

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (knee) has been hitting in the cages and is about a month away from returning. "Sal's getting close," skipper Ned Yost said. "He's probably, hopefully three weeks to a month away. I watched him hit in the cage and he's swinging the bat well. He's going to probably start catching side sessions after the weekend, start taking BP on the field after the weekend. That's good. He's getting close."

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (knee) is wearing a large brace around his surgically repaired left knee, but he said he is feeling good. "My knee is getting stronger," Perez said through an interpreter. "And I'm getting anxious." He'll know more on his timetable as his rehab continues.

The Kansas City Royals could look to sign free-agent C Ivan Rodriguez (Nationals) with C Salvador Perez (knee) out 12-14 weeks. Arizona Diamondbacks C Craig Tatum, Cincinnati Reds C Corky Miller and Colorado Rockies C Wil Nieves could be other trade options.

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (knee) underwent successful surgery to fix a torn meniscus in his left knee Friday, March 16. He'll need 12 to 14 weeks of rehab to fully recover.

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (knee) will undergo surgery on his left knee Friday, March 16. There is no timetable for his return, but a recovery from a torn meniscus typically requires six to 12 weeks to return from, depending on the severity. Kansas City is looking for another catcher to back up C Brayan Pena when the regular season kicks off.

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (knee) suffered a knee injury while warming up before the Cactus League game Tuesday, March 13. Perez was sent for an MRI, and the results are expected to be available Wednesday, March 14.
