Kansas City Royals C Drew Butera is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Tuesday, June 30, with C Salvador Perez serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Butera ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be avoided everywhere while going up against one of the American League's best pitchers so far this season.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) should return to the starting lineup in the next game or two. Butera ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting .162 this season and should not be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Royals | KC to negotiate with Salvador Perez

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 17:19:57 -0700

The Kansas City Royals are expected to have discussions with C Salvador Perez regarding a restructuring or extension of his current contract later this season or after the season.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) signed a five-year, $7 million deal in February 2012 and could make up to $26.5 million through the 2019 season if the team exercises three options on his existing contract. It is considered one of the most team-friendly contracts in baseball. Entering play Friday, June 19, Perez was hitting .284 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs and had played in 60 of the Royals' first 63 games.

Royals | Salvador Perez hitting fifth

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 15:41:37 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez will bat fifth in the order Tuesday, June 16, against the Milwaukee Brewers and RHP Matt Garza. 1B/DH Kendrys Morales isn't in the starting lineup with the game being played in Milwaukee.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) can be a given a bit of a boost on FantasyScore thanks to the promotion but the biggest reason should be his play at the plate of late. Perez has four multi-hit games in his past five, for a total of eight hits in 21 plate appearances. Perez should be considered a strong option at the catcher position, as he has hit four home runs since June 6.

Royals | Salvador Perez wants to restructure deal

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 10:21:44 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez hopes to renegotiate the five-year, $7 million contract extension he signed in February 2012. The extension included three club options that could have raised the maximum value of the deal to $26.5 million through 2019.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is one of the top catchers in the game and currently has one of the most team-friendly contracts in baseball. The Royals are not obligated to renegotiate his deal, although they are likely to talk to him about it in the near future. Through 49 games this season, he is batting .272 with six home runs and 25 RBIs.

Royals | Salvador Perez returns to action

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 12:42:41 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (face) is back in the starting lineup and hitting eighth in the batting order against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer Thursday, June 4.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has been one of the more consistent catchers in a disappointing group this year, going 49-for-174 (.282) with six home runs and 25 RBI. However, Bauer has been tough of late, giving up no more than two earned runs in each of his last four starts, and he's limiting righties to a .229/.278/.373 slash line this year.

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 12:17:30 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (face) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 3, against the Cleveland Indians. C Drew Butera is in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is taking a night off one day after being hit in the face by a foul tip. He passed concussion tests, but the Royals are playing it safe. Butera ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) carries little fantasy value, with a .167 average in the past week.

Mon, 25 May 2015 08:45:39 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 25. C Drew Butera will be the starting catcher for the Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return in the lineup in a game or two. Butera ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has not been very productive in his limited playing time this season and should not be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Sun, 24 May 2015 15:00:15 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez extended his hitting streak to 10 games Sunday, May 24, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is on a roll at the plate, and that means he should be in your lineup as long as he's producing.
