Updating previous items, San Francisco 49ers CB Chris Culliver apologized Thursday, Jan. 31, for anti-gay comments he made during Super Bowl media day. Culliver said that's "not what's in my heart" and he was "just kidding around." He also apologized to the city of San Francisco and added he would welcome a gay teammate to the team.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said CB Chris Culliver's anti-gay comments are not a reflection of the kind of person he is. "There's not malice in his heart. He's not an ugly person. He's not a discriminatory person," Harbaugh said. "I really believe that this is something that he'll learn and grow from."

San Francisco 49ers CB Chris Culliver said Tuesday, Jan. 29, in an interview with shock jock Artie Lange during Media Day that gays wouldn't be welcome in the team's locker room. "I don't do the gay guys, man," Culliver said. "I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do. Can't be with that sweet stuff." The team reacted with a statement in support of the gay community Wednesday, Jan. 30, and Culliver also apologized in a statement.
