South Carolina TE Weslye Saunders (foot) is scheduled for surgery Friday, April 1, to repair a broken bone in his left foot, reports The Associated Press. Saunders took part in the South Carolina Pro Day Wednesday, March 30, after failing to take part in the NFL Scouting Combine due to injury. The workout was performed in front of personnel from 28 of the 32 NFL teams.

South Carolina TE Weslye Saunders is trying to prove at the NFL Scouting Combine that he isn't a problem player. He was suspended for the first two games by head coach Steve Spurrier and then kicked off the team by athletic director Eric Hyman in September, missing his senior season. The AD did not feel he was being truthful and forthcoming, withholding information to protect himself and friends at the University of North Carolina.
