Broncos | Denver hurting at tight end |
Fri, 23 Dec 2016 11:40:57 -0800
Denver Broncos TEs A.J. Derby (concussion) and Virgil Green (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and are not expected to play in Week 16 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Denver7's Troy Renck.
Fantasy Tip: Neither likely absence is all that big from an individual fantasy perspective, but the Broncos struggle for offense enough at full strength, so being without their top two tight ends is a boost for the Chiefs' defense/special teams unit. Jeff Heuerman will likely get the start in their place, but he is well off the fantasy radar.

Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 12, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.
Fantasy Tip: Green will be returning after missing the last few games and should be in the starting lineup. He has recorded 74 yards in his two games played this season, but owners probably can find better options to use in their lineups.

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 05:29:47 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) is expected to return Thursday, Oct. 13, in Week 6 against the San Diego Chargers.

Tue, 11 Oct 2016 16:40:13 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) participated fully in practice Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Broncos | Virgil Green could return in Week 6 |
Tue, 11 Oct 2016 09:15:55 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) hasn't played since Week 2, but he is nearing a return ahead of the team's Week 6 game versus the San Diego Chargers.
Fantasy Tip: It was a bit of a surprise when Green wasn't activated last weekend, but he got in a full practice on Monday, so perhaps the Broncos just wanted to exercise extra caution. San Diego represents a plus-matchup for Green, but he could be a bit rusty after a three-week layoff, making it hard to trust him on Thursday night. Consider him a TE2 for now.

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 15:33:10 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 5.
Fantasy Tip: Green has missed the last two games because of the injury, so owners will need to check the inactive list to see if he will play. Green will have a role in the passing game when he returns but probably can be avoided by owners this week because of his uncertain status.

Broncos | Virgil Green to sit out Week 4 |
Fri, 30 Sep 2016 13:47:03 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Tip: The Broncos were hopeful about getting him back this week, but they will have to deal with the tag team of Jeff Heuerman and John Phillips for another week. Head coach Gary Kubiak suggested the two replacements will likely split snaps almost evenly, pretty much eliminating any chance either player had of establishing fantasy value.

Broncos | Virgil Green day-to-day |
Mon, 26 Sep 2016 13:31:37 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) is considered day-to-day with a calf injury.
Fantasy Tip: Green has been more involved in the passing game this year when he's been healthy. His progress will need to be monitored throughout the week, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven't necessarily been accommodating to tight ends this year. Green will still be a backup fantasy tight end if he does play.

Broncos | Virgil Green hopeful for Week 4 return |
Sat, 24 Sep 2016 11:00:59 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) has already been ruled out for Week 3 against Cincinnati Bengals, but he is optimistic he'll be ready to go in Week 4 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Tip: Green has been solid through two games thus far, piling up 74 scoreless yards on seven catches. While he has a much higher ceiling than that, the Trevor Siemian-led offense is suppressing most of the team's offensive playmakers. Green is a TE2 in fantasy and will probably remain there for the rest of the season.

Broncos | Virgil Green still not practicing |
Thu, 22 Sep 2016 18:27:33 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 22.
Fantasy Tip: Green is shaping up to be a touchdown-dependent option this year, and the injury further limits his appeal. He should be avoided in standard formats in Week 3.

Broncos | Virgil Green absent from practice |
Wed, 21 Sep 2016 12:54:58 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf) did not participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Fantasy Tip: Green has a modest seven catches on eight targets for 74 yards through the first two games of the season, but he is a potential mismatch in the red zone with some fantasy upside. He's not a slam-dunk starter from week to week, but Green is a solid TE2 and matchup play for daily contests and those who stream the position.

Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green caught four touchdowns in red-zone drills during practice Thursday, Aug. 4.

Broncos | Big year for tight ends in Denver? |
Fri, 29 Jul 2016 19:35:55 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green said Thursday, July 28, this year's offense will be more tight end friendly because of the current group of quarterbacks.
Fantasy Tip: While tight ends may be used more in pass-catching roles in 2016, it remains to be seen whether it will be Virgil Green, Jeff Heuerman or Garrett Graham who emerges as the No. 1 option. The eventual starter could have value as a TE2.

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 13:12:44 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman (hamstring, knee), TE Virgil Green (finger) and LB Brandon M. Marshall (finger) have been cleared to participate during training camp.
Fantasy Tip: Heuerman and Green are the top candidates to start at tight end this season and both should receive solid playing time in 2016. The winner of the starting job probably should be considered a low-end No. 2 tight end in most leagues. Heuerman could be a decent option in keeper leagues.

Broncos | Virgil Green could break out |
Wed, 13 Jul 2016 23:03:44 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green could become a potent weapon in the offense as his presence and blocking ability wouldn't tip the team's hand in their intended play call. He has 35 receptions for 379 yards and two touchdowns in his five-year career, and the team hopes he can significantly exceed those in 2016.
Fantasy Tip: Green will have Garrett Graham and Jeff Heuerman to contend with, but he could be a sleeper in training camp. He's nothing more than a wild-card TE2 right now.

Broncos | Virgil Green works on the side |
Tue, 31 May 2016 19:54:52 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (finger) participated during the individuals drills at organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 31, and then he worked off to the side. He is recovering from surgery on his finger.
Fantasy Tip: Green is known more for his blocking prowess than his pass-catching ability, but he, veteran Garrett Graham or Jeff Heuerman could see more responsibilities catching the ball unless the team looks outside of the organization to fortify the position. One might emerge as a useful low-end fantasy option if the roster remains the same into the season.

Tue, 24 May 2016 12:40:18 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (finger) had surgery on his finger and will miss most of organized team activities, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.
Fantasy Tip: Green is expected to receive more pass-catching opportunities this season, but he'll have to compete with Garrett Graham and Jeff Heuerman, too. None of the three should be considered a TE1.

Broncos | Virgil Green wants to prove himself |
Mon, 16 May 2016 11:47:12 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green said he wants to prove in training camp that he can be an every-down tight end. It was reported earlier that Green could have a bigger role in 2016.
Fantasy Tip: Green is quickly turning into a sleeper candidate at the tight end position, but he'll have Garrett Graham and Jeff Heuerman with whom to compete. He's not a viable fantasy consideration at this point.

Broncos | Bigger role for Virgil Green? |
Mon, 16 May 2016 11:08:50 -0700
Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green could see more opportunities in 2016 after a career-high 12 catches last season, according to Mike Klis of 9news.com.
Fantasy Tip: Garrett Graham and Jeff Heuerman are more intriguing from a fantasy perspective, but Green could very well produce more than he did last year. That being said, Green is not a viable fantasy consideration unless perhaps Heuerman aggravates his knee injury.

Broncos | Vernon Davis buried on depth chart |
Tue, 19 Jan 2016 14:03:49 -0800
Denver Broncos TE Vernon Davis has been passed on the tight end depth chart by TEs Owen Daniels and Virgil Green, mainly after struggling with drops in Week 15 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The return of QB Peyton Manning as the starting quarterback hasn't helped, either. Davis' opportunities will continue to be limited.
Fantasy Tip: Davis doesn't have any catches or targets since the Week 15 loss to the Steelers, and he's highly unlikely to make an impact in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots.

Broncos | Vernon Davis' role diminishing |
Tue, 05 Jan 2016 13:09:50 -0800
Denver Broncos TE Vernon Davis has put himself in a difficult spot because of crucial drops in recent weeks, and his playing time hasn't been helped by the fact that the Broncos have been running more of an up-tempo offense of late. TEs Owen Daniels and Virgil Green are more comfortable working at a quicker pace.
Fantasy Tip: Davis has no catches in the last two weeks and just one catch for five yards in the last three games. Daniels has clearly overtaken Davis as the go-to tight end, so you should be ignoring Davis from here on out on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Vernon Davis, Owen Daniels show well |
Sun, 13 Dec 2015 22:17:29 -0800
Denver Broncos TE Vernon Davis posted seven receptions for 74 yards in the Week 14 game against the Oakland Raiders, his best performance since joining the team. TE Owen Daniels also checked in with three grabs for 43 yards, while TE Virgil Green was blanked on just one target.
Fantasy Tip: Davis could be a solid FantasyScore value down the stretch if he performs like this on a regular basis, but his growth could be stunted if the team goes back to Peyton Manning in Week 15 once he is healthy. Stay tuned.
