Thu, 13 Jun 2013 08:04:33 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller has spent all of camp as the starting running back, but RB Daniel Thomas has seen a few first-team repetitions. Fantasy Tip: Thomas is little more than a handcuff right now.
Sun, 02 Jun 2013 19:16:59 -0700 Miami Dolphins RBs Mike Gillislee and Jonas Gray (knee) appear set to do battle for the No. 3 running back job behind RBs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas. "We feel very good about (Gray) coming off the knee. Then (rookie) Mike Gillislee. There's youth at the position," general manager Jeff Ireland said. "There's special teams value there. We feel very good about their skill set. Obviously, we need to see them play a little more and solidify the position."
Sun, 02 Jun 2013 19:15:36 -0700 Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said the team is very comfortable with their stable of running backs despite the fact each has less than three years of NFL experience. "I feel very comfortable with (RB Daniel Thomas)," Ireland said. He said Thomas is a powerful back, and RB Lamar Miller has "speed and explosion," making for a "good combination."
Thu, 30 May 2013 11:58:04 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller has a leg up on the competition to start at running back in 2013 although Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin considers the competition wide open, and Daniel Thomas, Mike Gillislee, Jonas Gray and Marcus Thigpen also are all competing for the starting job. Fantasy Tip: This is a battle that will likely play out through training camp and preseason games. Keep an eye on how the running backs are used in training camp and preseason. Also, Joe Philbin used a running back by committee approach in 2012, which hurt the value of all involved.
Tue, 21 May 2013 20:47:20 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller worked predominantly with the first-team offense, but RBs Daniel Thomas, Mike Gillislee and Marcus Thigpen also saw carries Tuesday, May 21, in organized team activities (OTAs).
Mon, 20 May 2013 11:43:05 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (knee), TE Charles Clay (knee), OT Lance Louis (knee) and CB Richard Marshall (back) have received medical clearance to participate in organized team activities.
Sun, 19 May 2013 11:43:06 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Mike Gillislee is expected to compete with RBs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas for the starting running back job during offseason workouts and training camp.
Tue, 14 May 2013 21:04:28 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller is considered the front-runner for the starting running back job, although RB Daniel Thomas said Tuesday, May 14, that he shouldn't be overlooked. "I don't know why (Miller) would have the inside track," Thomas said. "It's an open competition. Everybody has a fair shot. The best player is going to get the job. Nobody has a leg up. I'm looking to be that guy. That's why I put the work in." Fantasy Tip: Thomas worked in Arizona with other NFL players during the offseason, working to make his legs stronger after knee surgery. He averaged 3.6 yards per tote on 91 carries last season, while Miller averaged 4.9 on 51 carries.
Wed, 03 Apr 2013 07:46:18 -0700 The Miami Dolphins are concerned about RB Daniel Thomas' durability and his potential on the goal line.
Fri, 22 Mar 2013 05:14:27 -0700 Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said RB Daniel Thomas has to eliminate the mental errors and fumbles. He needs to play more consistently, according to Philbin.
Sun, 03 Mar 2013 10:35:39 -0800 The Miami Dolphins are not considering having RB Daniel Thomas compete with RB Lamar Miller for the starting running back job next season and are not expected to sign a veteran running back to compete with Miller. The team likes Miller's ability to make jump-cut moves, which allows him to get to the second level in the team's zone-blocking scheme.
Tue, 29 Jan 2013 07:36:02 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas is not expected to take over the starting role if RB Reggie Bush doesn't return.
Mon, 14 Jan 2013 17:28:30 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller has surpassed RB Daniel Thomas in the organization's eyes. Thomas' three fumbles this year were the most by a running back with fewer than 100 carries. Only four other backs had a lower per-carry average than Thomas' 3.6 yards, too.
Sun, 13 Jan 2013 10:58:24 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (knee) needed to undergo surgery on the knee injury he suffered in the team's Week 15 game but should be recovered by spring.
Wed, 19 Dec 2012 08:33:06 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (knee) has been placed on Injured Reserve.
Mon, 17 Dec 2012 07:36:27 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (knee) lasted seven snaps before leaving with a knee injury in Week 15.
Fri, 14 Dec 2012 10:03:05 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Reggie Bush is unlikely to return to the team next season. He has little confidence that he'll be back in Miami for the 2013 season. "It's a little uneasy and unsure, but at the same time, exciting, because you know there are opportunities out there. I'd love to stay here, but part of me says, 'well, there's nothing been on the table quite yet.' I'm remaining optimistic," Bush said. He'll be a free agent after this season. RBs Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller wait in the wings if Bush isn't brought back.
Fri, 14 Dec 2012 09:10:42 -0800 The Miami Dolphins went with RB Lamar Miller over RB Daniel Thomas in Week 14, but Miller had just three carries for 1 yard.
Thu, 29 Nov 2012 16:29:29 -0800 Miami Dolphins QB Pat Devlin (hip), RB Daniel Thomas (ankle, knee), LB Karlos Dansby (biceps), CB Nolan Carroll (neck) and SS Reshad Jones (thumb) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 29.
Wed, 28 Nov 2012 18:01:00 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (ankle, knee) was able to practice fully Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Mon, 26 Nov 2012 08:32:44 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Reggie Bush (30) and RB Daniel Thomas (29) had a nearly even split in the number of snaps they were in during Week 12.
Sun, 25 Nov 2012 14:58:00 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Reggie Bush rushed for 87 yards and one touchdowns on 14 carries against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12, while RB Daniel Thomas rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown on nine carries in the game.
Mon, 05 Nov 2012 10:57:10 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas received more snaps than RB Reggie Bush in Week 9. Thomas received 33 snaps during the game while Bush received 28 snaps.
Sun, 04 Nov 2012 17:16:54 -0800 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas had six carries for 37 yards in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts, and he added two receptions for 25 yards. Fantasy Tip: Thomas had 18 touches in Week 8, but his role appeared to be scaled back somewhat. Still, he is a solid RB3 or 'flex' option in Week 10 against a Tennessee Titans rush defense which ranks 30th in the NFL, allowing 141.6 yards per game through nine contests.
Fri, 02 Nov 2012 12:14:30 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (elbow), LB Jason Trusnik (forearm) QB Matt Moore (calf) practiced Friday, Nov. 2, while C Mike Pouncey (Achilles') and LB Karlos Dansby (biceps) were limited. All are probable for Week 9.
Thu, 01 Nov 2012 17:18:09 -0700 Miami Dolphins QB Matt Moore (calf), RB Daniel Thomas (elbow) and LB Jason Trusnik (forearm) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 1.
Wed, 31 Oct 2012 14:34:38 -0700 Miami Dolphins QB Matt Moore (calf), RB Daniel Thomas (elbow) and LB Jason Trusnik (forearm) all fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Fri, 26 Oct 2012 11:45:21 -0700 Miami Dolphins S Reshad Jones (heel), LB Koa Misi (hamstring), RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) and S Jimmy Wilson (ankle) all fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 26, and are probable for the team's Week 8 game. DE Cameron Wake (neck) was limited in practice and is probable.
Thu, 25 Oct 2012 14:00:15 -0700 Miami Dolphins LB Koa Misi (hamstring) and RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) both fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 25.
Tue, 16 Oct 2012 15:40:36 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) returned to practice Tuesday, Oct. 16, after passing mandated tests Monday, Oct. 15. He will practice and play with an oversized helmet designed to give him more protection.
Tue, 16 Oct 2012 12:46:28 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Reggie Bush (knee) hopes to be much closer to 100 percent healthy following the team's Week 7 bye week. He said it's "the perfect time" to rest up and get healthy. RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) said he has been cleared by the medical staff and could return to the team in Week 8.
Tue, 16 Oct 2012 12:45:48 -0700 The Miami Dolphins have quickly involved into a passing team thanks to opposing teams stacking up the line of scrimmage in order to force QB Ryan Tannehill to beat them through the air. Tannehill has responded in recent weeks with personal bests in completion percentage and passer rating, and he hasn't thrown an interception in the last two games. RB Reggie Bush (knee) is still not 100 percent, and RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) has missed two games this year with two separate concussions.
Sun, 14 Oct 2012 08:46:56 -0700 The Miami Dolphins have declared RB Daniel Thomas, WR Jabar Gaffney, TE Michael Egnew, QB Pat Devlin, CB Richard Marshall, WR Rishard Matthews, OT Will Yeatman inactive for Week 6.
Fri, 12 Oct 2012 14:54:01 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) and CB Richard Marshall (back) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 12, and have been ruled out for Week 6.
Thu, 11 Oct 2012 14:10:16 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) and CB Richard Marshall (back) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 11.
Wed, 10 Oct 2012 14:53:20 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) and CB Richard Marshall (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Tue, 09 Oct 2012 13:28:48 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller didn't play in a single offensive snap in Week 5, but he could be used more often with RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) leaving the game with his second concussion in five weeks. The team hasn't been happy with Miller's awareness on the field so far, though, and his pass blocking hasn't been good.
Mon, 01 Oct 2012 19:40:04 -0700 Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said Monday, Oct. 1, that he and the coaching staff will choose between RBs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas depending on matchups. "It's by game plan more. We have confidence in both of those guys," Philbin said. "Both have skill. Both do some very good things."
Mon, 01 Oct 2012 10:33:01 -0700 The Miami Dolphins appeared to limit RB Reggie Bush's workload in Week 4 because of his knee injury. RB Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller received more playing time than usual during the game. Bush finished the game with 67 yards on 17 carries.
Sun, 30 Sep 2012 18:42:51 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas carried just four times for four yards in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals, and he had one catch for six yards. RB Lamar Miller wasn't much better, posting 13 yards on four totes. Fantasy Tip: As long as Reggie Bush is healthy, and his knee appeared to hold up against a tough defense, neither Thomas or Miller are worth starting in most fantasy leagues.
Wed, 26 Sep 2012 17:47:57 -0700 Miami Dolphins RBs Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller took most of the reps at tailback during practice Wednesday, Sept. 26, with RB Reggie Bush (knee) sidelined.
Mon, 24 Sep 2012 06:08:10 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller got all of his 48 rushing yards on nine third-quarter carries in Week 3. He did not receive a carry in the fourth quarter as the team opted with RB Daniel Thomas, even though he had a fumble. "We wanted to give Lamar an opportunity once we thought Reggie couldn't play effectively," head coach Joe Philbin said. "We have two guys, we think a lot of both and we think they're both capable of playing. Some of it was dictated by situation, but some of it was spreading the carries around."
Sun, 23 Sep 2012 18:58:18 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas carried 19 times for a game-high 69 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 game against the New York Jets. He was fairly effective coming on for an injured RB Reggie Bush (knee). Thomas also added an 11-yard catch, and he lost a fumble. Fantasy Tip: Thomas is certainly worth adding in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 4, although it sounds as if the injury to Bush isn't as bad as initially feared. Still, Thomas might be a decent low-end RB2 or 'flex' fantasy play in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals if Bush cannot go or is limited.
Fri, 21 Sep 2012 13:02:31 -0700 Miami Dolphins WR Anthony Armstrong (hamstring), LB Kevin Burnett (foot), LB Jonathan Freeny (thumb), CB Richard Marshall (back), RB Lamar Miller (ankle), LB Koa Misi (foot), DE Jared Odrick (thumb), RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) and S Jimmy Wilson (back) all fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 21, and are probable for the team's Week 3 game.
Thu, 20 Sep 2012 13:31:07 -0700 Miami Dolphins LB Jonathan Freeny (thumb), RB Lamar Miller (ankle), LB Koa Misi (foot), RB Daniel Thomas (concussion), and S Jimmy Wilson (back) all fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 20.
Wed, 19 Sep 2012 13:38:45 -0700 Miami Dolphins LB Jonathan Freeny (thumb), RB Lamar Miller (ankle), LB Koa Misi (foot), RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) and S Jimmy Wilson (back) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 19.
Sun, 16 Sep 2012 08:49:04 -0700 The Miami Dolphins have declared WR Anthony Armstrong, RB Daniel Thomas, TE Michael Egnew, QB Pat Devlin, OG Ray Feinga, DL Tony McDaniel, OT Will Yeatman inactive for Week 2.
Fri, 14 Sep 2012 14:53:38 -0700 Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) and DT Tony McDaniel (knee) both did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 14, and have been ruled out for Week 2.
Thu, 13 Sep 2012 15:39:05 -0700 Miami Dolphins WR Anthony Armstrong (hamstring), DE Tony McDaniel (knee) and RB Daniel Thomas (concussion) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 13.
