The Jacksonville Jaguars are uncertain if they'll keep a third quarterback behind QBs Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. QB Jordan Palmer is on the roster, and QB Nathan Enderle was added Friday, June 22. Smith said the team will keep three if the third quarterback is in the team's top 53 players. "(The practice squad quarterback) would have to be good enough to hopefully be a third or we would have to go to the street and get a veteran," Smith said. "And we've done that before. You can keep your quarterback healthy. That is our goal with our pass protection."

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith indicated the team will pursue a backup quarterback during the offseason. QB Nathan Enderle is the only other quarterback under contract besides starter QB Jay Cutler. "We have a lot of options out there. I think this is an attractive place for a quarterback," Smith said. "We're going to look at all people. And I'm talking about (QB Caleb Hanie), (QB Josh McCown) and free agent quarterbacks out there. I just feel like we'll be able to strengthen that position more than we were this past year."

Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz said the team did not select QB Nathan Enderle in the NFL Draft to the No. 3 quarterback. Enderle will likely compete for the No. 2 spot with QB Caleb Hanie. "We didn't draft (Enderle) to be the third quarterback," Martz said. "If that was the case, then there was no reason to draft a quarterback. You have to be good at that position to win, and one just isn't enough. We feel really good about Caleb, but what if Nate is better? Who knows? I don't know that he is or isn't."

The Chicago Bears drafted QB Nathan Enderle out of Idaho in the fifth round in the 2011 NFL Draft. He worked out with offensive coordinator Mike Martz before the draft. "It was awesome when he came out there, you can just tell he has so much football knowledge and really kind of started to tweak with my drop and a few things that I was doing physically while he was out there," Enderle said.
