Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco was lifted midway through the fourth quarter of the Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a lopsided score. He finished the night 21 of 29 for 299 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Backup QB Tyrod Taylor spelled Flacco and finished the game.

Baltimore Ravens QB Tyrod Taylor could see a larger role in the Ravens' offense this year. The Ravens used him at wide receiver last year at times and could be looking to use more of him in different roles this season. "No matter what, we are going to try to find ways to get him on the field anyway he can because he is such a good athlete," head coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Baltimore Ravens QB Curtis Painter is challenging QB Tyrod Taylor for the team's No. 2 quarterback duties during training camp. Taylor is a dual-threat option at quarterback, able to make plays with his legs, while Painter is more of a pocket passer. Painter has had bouts of erratic play and thrown plenty of interceptions. Thus far, Painter has not made a strong case for the team to carry three quarterbacks into the regular season.

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said Tuesday, Feb. 28, that the team is committed to QB Tyrod Taylor to serve as their long-term backup quarterback. "Everything you would want from a quarterback, from a guy that hasn't played, Tyrod has it," Newsome said. "He has unbelievable poise, he has great accuracy. He's an outstanding leader in the huddle, in the meeting rooms."

Baltimore Ravens QB Tyrod Taylor made his NFL debut in Week 13 against the Cleveland Browns in the second quarter, taking his first snap during the second quarter. He lined up in the shotgun formation, and ran to the right for yards while QB Joe Flacco was shifted out to wide receiver.

Baltimore Ravens QB Tyrod Taylor (shoulder) was able to return to practice Monday, Sept. 5. He bruised his left shoulder in the preseason finale, but an MRI showed just a contusion to his non-throwing shoulder. He said he is available, if needed, in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
