The Houston Astros have announced the hirings of amateur scouts Tim Bittner (Mid-Atlantic), Gavin Dickey (South Texas) and John Martin (Central and North Florida).

The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent OF Gavin Dickey (Independent League) to a minor league contract, the Lincoln Journal Star reports. Last season with the Lincoln Saltdogs, Dickey hit .300 with career highs in home runs (17) and RBIs (55) and led the team with 20 stolen bases.
