Kansas City Chiefs LB Justin Houston posted the first three sacks of his career in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears, and he is emerging as a much-needed pass rush threat opposite LB Tamba Hali. Head coach Todd Haley has gradually started using Houston in base defensive sets, then sub-package work before finally taking over as an every-down player in the past few weeks. "He's been doing a great job," LB Derrick Johnson said.

Continuing a previous storyline, Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli acknowledged the team has some risk with the selection of LB Justin Houston, a third-round selection in the NFL Draft, but said there is also a chance for a "great reward." He played in a similar system during his time in college, which was a big factor in why the Chiefs gave him a favorable grade.
