He had very little experience at MLB, but finished with eight tackles, one sack and two quarterback hits with a forced fumble. "I never practiced it last year or much this year," Ayers said. "We had some guys down, and Coach said this week, 'We need you to play middle linebacker.' I really had to study the playbook."
