Dallas Cowboys OT Tyron Smith agreed to pay his parents in installments after signing a four-year, $12.5 million deal in 2011 after being drafted ninth overall in the first round. Smith's family harassed him for more financial gain after he helped them out, and physical threats lead Smith to file a protective order against his parents last summer to keep them from coming in contact with him. Smith's family, including his brother and sisters, continually demanded money from him and also took more than $1 million from him. "There was money missing, but I just don't know where it went," Smith said. "There were times I would check my statements and it wouldn't make sense and I hadn't authorized it at all. I just felt betrayed and I was like, 'Who can I trust?'"

Dallas Cowboys OT Tyron Smith said he would like to add 10 pounds this offseason and play at 315 pounds during the season. "I just want to be a better run-blocker and be stronger and more physical," Smith said. "There were times last year where I felt like I was too fast and I was a little off-balanced. I just basically want to add a little weight and stay there, be fast and strong at the same time."

OT Jermey Parnell replaced him at left tackle, and would presumably start if Smith cannot go. "It's high ankle which just bothers the daylights out of ya," owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. "The trainers were a little more than usual optimistic that it won't be as bad as it can be on high ankle."

Watt in the 2011 NFL Draft instead of OT Tyron Smith, according to New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan, Rob's brother. "I know my brother was wanting him when he was in Dallas. "The crazy thing about Tyron is he's the first guy that when you lock up with him, you can't get off of him," Ware said. "He's the first guy to ever do that to me. That shows the strength he has and how quick he is on the inside. He's a very good, young aggressive tackle. When you try to beat him inside, you can't. He's just that athletic. Dallas Cowboys OG Kyle Kosier was moved from left to right guard in practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, due to a back injury to OG Montrae Holland (back). Kosier can now help OG Tyron Smith in pass protection. The move isn't expected to be permanent unless OG David Arkin can develop chemistry on the left side with OT Doug Free. Holland is unlikely to play in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 11.

Dallas Cowboys rookie OT Tyron Smith has worked at left offensive tackle during the first few days of training camp. While it was assumed he would give way to OT Doug Free when he is able to practice next week, that may not be how it plays out. Head coach Jason Garrett said the situation is still playing itself out, and the team feels Smith has the tools necessary to play left tackle. Smith is more comfortable at right tackle, which is what he played the last few years at USC. Garrett said both Smith and Free will be worked at both right and left tackle.
