San Francisco 49ers LB Aldon Smith picked up 2 1/2 sacks in the Week 15 game Monday, Dec. 19, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. That gives him 13 sacks for the season, setting a new franchise rookie record for sacks. Former DL Charles Haley held the previous record with 12.

San Francisco 49ers LB Aldon Smith was named Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week after recording four tackles, two sacks, a safety and a forced fumble in Week 6 against the Detroit Lions. He won the honor despite the fact he was fined $15,000 for a roughing-the-passer penalty below the knee area of Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford, according to a league spokesman.
