Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said TE Lee Smith (undisclosed) should be ready for training camp after suffering an undisclosed injury in the weight room this offseason. Smith did not participate in organized team activities Wednesday, May 29, and was wearing a walking boot.

Buffalo Bills tight ends coach Pete Metzelaars said the team will have to find ways of using TE Lee Smith in the passing game because he does not want opponents to think Smith is only used on running plays. "Now he has limitations the other way – the athleticism," Metzelaars said. "So you have to find opportunities to use him in the passing game, where it's not – this guy's in, they're running every time."

The Buffalo Bills placed TE Lee Smith (ankle) on the season-ending Injured Reserve list Tuesday, Dec. 20. The team promoted TE Kevin Brock from the practice squad to take Smith's spot on the active roster.
