Bears | Gabe Carimi expects to ready for minicamp

Chicago Bears OT Gabe Carimi (knee) said Sunday, May 13, that he expects to be ready for the team's veteran minicamp which runs from June 12-14. "I'm feeling really good. They're saying another couple of weeks and I'll be here for OTAs and minicamps," Carimi said. Carimi suffered a dislocated kneecap in Week 2 last season.

Chicago Bears OT Gabe Carimi (knee) is on track to return for the team's first offseason camp later this month. Carimi said he'd been rehabbing five days a week. "(Carimi) has been working tremendously hard," general manager Phil Emery said. "I have had a chance to visit with him a couple times and watch him rehab. We're very excited that he's coming back. He's going to really help solidify our offensive line."

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said the team has not added an offensive lineman in free agency because they are comfortable with the linemen they have on the roster. He said he is comfortable with OT J'Marcus Webb at left tackle but is not ruling out the possibility of moving OT Gabe Carimi to left tackle.

Chicago Bears LS Patrick Mannelly (knee) said he, OT Gabe Carimi (knee) and WR Johnny Knox (back) have been rehabbing at the team's facility every day this offseason. Mannelly hopes to be snapping by the spring but is not sure if he will be medically cleared to practice.

Chicago Bears OT Gabe Carimi (knee) underwent successful surgery on his knee Tuesday, Dec. 27, to fix connective tissue around his patella and medial collateral ligament. He is expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp next season.
