Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli said he believes OL Rodney Hudson will be ready to start in 2012. "I think he's ready to be a starter at center or guard," Pioli said. "He's a good, young player and he had some time last year. One of the interesting things about Rodney that showed itself is his maturity, his ability to prepare. He was our fourth inside guy, so to speak. When we had guys out, he actually played for Ryan (Lilja) at guard. Casey (Wiegmann) of course hasn't missed a snap in 100 years. But Rodney is ready to play either one of the positions. He's ready to play in the NFL. He's a smart kid who really has a level of maturity that's rare."

With the re-signing of C Casey Wiegmann by the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chiefs will now be able to slowly work rookie C Rodney Hudson, a second-round draft choice, into the mix. He will have the ability to learn in a backup role behind Wiegmann. Hudson is also capable of playing guard, so the Chiefs may try him at one of those spots this season.

Kansas City Chiefs rookie C Rodney Hudson, a second-round selection in the NFL Draft, was a four-year starter in college and provides the Chiefs with a young option on the interior of the offensive line, which was a priority need for them entering the NFL Draft.
Hudson and second-year OL Jon Asamoah are likely to make strong pushes for starting jobs in 2011. The team plans for Hudson to initially play center, but that doesn't mean C Casey Wiegmann's time with the team is over.
