Redskins | Joshua Morgan could return to starting lineup

Tue, 19 Nov 2013 11:10:38 -0800

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said WR Joshua Morgan, who was inactive in favor of WR Nick X. Williams as a punt returner in Week 11, could return to the starting lineup if WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) needs surgery to fix a torn lateral collateral ligament in his knee. "I've got a lot of belief in Josh Morgan," Shanahan said. "I have a lot of confidence in Josh that he'll come back strong and help us this week as a receiver. But I explained to him what he needs to do in both special teams and wide receiver to get to a level that I think he can get to. I think he has the ability to be a Pro Bowl player and I want to get that out of him." Williams muffed a punt and failed to field another against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Morgan would be, at best, a flex player in deeper leagues if Hankerson is out for extended time.

Redskins | Leonard Hankerson receiving praise

Wed, 11 Sep 2013 14:10:20 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson received praise from the coaching staff, particularly head coach Mike Shanahan, after his Week 1 performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. Hankerson had five catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. "He needs some playing time. He's got to have some consistency, like he did (Monday) night to make those plays. He did a great job in the red zone. He ran an excellent route. What a lot of people don't see is the routes he is running and when he doesn't get the ball and he's open. That's what you are impressed with."

Fantasy Tip: Hankerson will be a popular waiver wire target this week after his solid performance in the opener. He should continue to be a nice red zone weapon for Robert Griffin III, and Hankerson's value this year could be consistent with the Redskins preferring RG3 not to run as often. Consider adding him to fortify your WR depth.

Redskins | Leonard Hankerson finds end zone twice

Mon, 09 Sep 2013 21:36:55 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson finished with five receptions for a team-high 80 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 1 game Monday, Sept. 9, against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Hankerson had a solid stat line, but remember that Pierre Garcon, Joshua Morgan, Santana Moss and even TE Fred Davis are in the mix for balls, so don't expect Hankerson to be the top target week in and week out. He is best used as a WR4 or flex play in deeper fantasy formats until this kind of performance becomes the rule and not the exception.

Washington Redskins WRs Pierre Garcon, Joshua Morgan, Santana Moss, Leonard Hankerson and Aldrick Robinson have appeared to lock up spots on the final roster.

Fantasy Tip: Garcon is the team's top receiver and should be considered as a solid to low-end No. 2 fantasy wide receiver this season. Morgan and Moss could be late-round options in deeper leagues, but there probably be higher upside players available.

Fantasy Tip: Hankerson showed improvements in his second year with Robert Griffin III entrenched at quarterback. Despite the increase in targets he saw, he'll likely be the third- or fourth-string wideout in Washington, making a deep sleeper or nice post-draft pick-up.

Redskins | Not much difference between Robert Griffin, Kirk Cousins?

Wed, 19 Dec 2012 07:58:40 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson said there is little difference between QBs Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins as far as guiding the offense. "I honestly don't think it was that much different at all because both of those guys are high energy guys, they both come in the huddle with a whole lot of confidence, they talk to us a lot and I think they pretty much come in the same way," Hankerson said. "Even though Kirk hasn't been a starter for the past 13 games, he always in practice, he always comes in with high intensity and he talks to us all the same like he has been the starter. Kirk, he's a guy that prepares hard each and every week like he is the starter and it obviously showed on Sunday."
