Bills | Charles Clay week-to-week

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 12:11:04 -0700

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) is considered week-to-week because of his knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: Nick O'Leary probably will take over as the starting tight end while Clay is sidelined. He played well in Week 5 when he recorded five catches and 54 yards after taking over for Clay. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options to use and can avoid O'Leary.

Bills | Charles Clay out 'multiple weeks'

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 10:28:02 -0700

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Monday, Oct. 9, and will miss multiple weeks with a torn meniscus and sprained MCL, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Tip: It's a punch to the gut for a Buffalo offense already bereft of playmakers in the passing game, as Jordan Matthews is out with a thumb injury and Zay Jones struggling to get anything going as a rookie. The Bills do have a well-timed bye in Week 6, but Clay is obviously going to need more time in that. Nick O'Leary led the team with 54 yards receiving in Week 5 and will be considered the favorite to fill in for Clay during his absence. He's worth an add for all owners in need of a slight boost at tight end.

Bills | Charles Clay might have ACL injury

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 18:33:25 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) suffered at least a sprained medial collateral ligament injury in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and there is a worry he might have a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament, too.

Fantasy Tip: With Clay, the team's most explosive receiver, the wideouts will have to step up. They hadn't been doing so with Jordan Matthews down for at least a month due to thumb surgery. Nick O'Leary posted five grabs for 54 yards with Clay sidelined and could be the next guy up when play resumes for the Bills in Week 7 after the bye.

Bills | Charles Clay will not return

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 12:13:30 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) will not return to the team's Week 5 game.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Clay may have a serious injury, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. Nick O'Leary likely will start if Clay misses time but should only be considered a No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues.

Bills | Charles Clay carted off

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 10:55:35 -0700

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) was carted off the field after suffering a knee injury during the team's Week 5 game.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to determine the severity of Clay's injury. He has been a solid option for the Bills over the last few weeks but his status is uncertain. Nick O'Leary probably would take over as the starting tight end but would not have a lot of fantasy value.

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 16:28:51 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Clay failed to find the end zone but he was able to post a season-high in yardage. He has managed a total of 18 receptions through four games, with at least three catches in each game. Clay has re-emerged as a TE1 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 5 in Cincinnati.

Bills | Charles Clay finds end zone in win

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 14:58:09 -0700

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay posted six catches for 39 yards and a score in Week 3 against the Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Clay didn't show any ill effects of the knee injury which had him on the injury report earlier in the week. He has scored two touchdowns through three games with at least three grabs in each outing. He has re-emerged as a low-end TE1 in deeper fantasy leagues heading into Week 4 at Atlanta.
