Bengals | Andy Dalton's injury not serious

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 18:56:43 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (neck) was removed as a precaution in a preseason game against the Chicago Bears Saturday, Aug. 29, head coach Marvin Lewis said.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like the injury will be a non-issue moving forward, and Dalton should make a solid fantasy backup in seasonal leagues and a potential starter for DFS purposes against the right opponents.

Bengals | Andy Dalton injures neck

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 18:03:59 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (neck) left a preseason game against the Chicago Bears Saturday, Aug. 29, after suffering a neck injury on a touchdown dive in the first quarter.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for updates on Dalton, but as long as he is healthy, he should make a solid QB2 in 2015.

Bengals | Andy Dalton mistake-prone in loss

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 20:30:18 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed six of his 13 pass attempts for 46 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the preseason game Monday, Aug. 24, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: One of Dalton's picks was deflected into the air by WR A.J. Green and returned for a touchdown, but the other was clearly his fault. The Bengals have an explosive offense, and Dalton could be a high-end QB2 worth using as a bye-week replacement. However, he needs to show a lot better than this.

Bengals | AJ McCarron healthy

Sat, 23 May 2015 15:18:06 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB AJ McCarron (shoulder) is healthy and hoping to push QB Andy Dalton in 2015. "We wanted him in our building so bad and it happened and then it didn't happen and now it's happening … So it's fun. It's delayed gratification, that's all. Now we've got a chance to see where he can take himself and where we can help him go," explained quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese.

Bengals | A.J. McCarron plans to challenge Andy Dalton

Tue, 12 May 2015 09:32:16 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals backup QB A.J. McCarron (shoulder), who spent almost all of his rookie season in 2014 on the non-football injury list with a shoulder injury from college, plans to push QB Andy Dalton hard for the starting job in training camp this summer. "Andy's our starter. I know that. I love Andy to death. But I want to make him better every way that I can," McCarron said. The coaches said McCarron looks to be throwing pain-free this offseason. He spent the offseason training with quarterbacks coaches David Morris and Tom House, and House changed some of McCarron's mechanics to help him throw tighter with more compact body control.

Bengals | No competition for Andy Dalton

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 14:05:27 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton will not have competition at the quarterback position heading into the 2015 season, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. "We feel Andy Dalton's our quarterback, yes we do," Lewis said. "It's a different era than when Steve and Joe were there." Lewis said that the team is committed to Dalton long term after just signing him to an extension.

Fantasy Tip: After throwing 33 touchdown passes, Dalton took a step back last year with 19 TDs and 17 interceptions. Having A.J. Green injured for much of the year didn't help his cause. The bottom line is that Dalton is a very average QB in the league, and he best fits fantasy rosters as a midrange backup signal caller.

Bengals | OC takes blame for Andy Dalton's struggles

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 10:52:29 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton and the passing game must improve, but offensive coordinator Hue Jackson took some of the blame for Dalton's struggles in 2014. "I'll be the first to tell all of you that I don't think I did a good enough job of getting him to where I think he needs to be," Jackson said. "That's one of my biggest responsibilities in my mind this upcoming year. He played well at times. There were times where there was inconsistency, and I've got to get him over that hump." Jackson knows Dalton must cut down on his turnovers, and the infusion of healthy receivers next year should help.

Fantasy Tip: The lack of go-to receivers definitely hurt Dalton's progression down the stretch in 2014. However, until he shows us that he can make the leap to the next level, fantasy owners should be wary of him as anything more than a serviceable backup with chances for QB1 production in the right matchups.

Bengals | Andy Dalton still supported by OC

Tue, 27 Jan 2015 16:58:54 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton still has offensive coordinator Hue Jackson in his corner, despite Dalton's lackluster performance in 2014 and in the Pro Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton has received much scrutiny regarding his play throughout his career, and deservedly so (with 2013 being an exception). He's no more than a low-end No. 2 quarterback heading into the 2015 season.

Bengals | Marvin Lewis happy with Andy Dalton

Wed, 21 Jan 2015 17:59:21 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has the support of his head coach Marvin Lewis. The head coach said Wednesday, Jan. 21, that he is happy with Dalton, and the club has no plans to bring in a backup quarterback to push Dalton. "Fortunately, somehow I've got the right little thing on my shoulder that says, 'Don't get into a quarterback controversy'," Lewis said. "That's worked for (QB Jon Kitna) to (QB Carson Palmer) to Andy. It's helped us have the success we've had and those guys have been good players, productive players. Even when they've left out of here they've been productive. It works."

Fantasy Tip: Dalton can be a serviceable fantasy option again in 2015, especially if he has a full season with a healthy A.J. Green, as well as one of the best backfield tandems in the league. He won't necessarily be a Top 10 fantasy option at his position, but Dalton will be a sneaky FantasyScore play some weeks, and he is a decent fantasy backup in yearly formats.

Bengals | Andy Dalton won't have competition

Thu, 15 Jan 2015 11:33:45 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is not expected to enter next season with competition at quarterback, as the Bengals are not expected to draft another quarterback this year. "He's our guy and we're not going to shy away from that," says offensive coordinator Hue Jackson of Dalton and quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese offers, "He was better with the intangibles this year and the ball was better coming out of his hand. You could see that right away when he came back from the last offseason." Jackson is a fan of backup QB Jason Campbell, and the team was impressed with young QB A.J. McCarron.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton had his best completion percentage of his career this year at 64.2%, but he remains more of a mediocre QB1 based on matchups. In your fantasy football drafts next year, consider him best used as a potent backup.
