Bengals | Andy Dalton still supported by OC

Tue, 27 Jan 2015 16:58:54 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton still has offensive coordinator Hue Jackson in his corner, despite Dalton's lackluster performance in 2014 and in the Pro Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton has received much scrutiny regarding his play throughout his career, and deservedly so (with 2013 being an exception). He's no more than a low-end No. 2 quarterback heading into the 2015 season.

Bengals | Marvin Lewis happy with Andy Dalton

Wed, 21 Jan 2015 17:59:21 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has the support of his head coach Marvin Lewis. The head coach said Wednesday, Jan. 21, that he is happy with Dalton, and the club has no plans to bring in a backup quarterback to push Dalton. "Fortunately, somehow I've got the right little thing on my shoulder that says, 'Don't get into a quarterback controversy'," Lewis said. "That's worked for (QB Jon Kitna) to (QB Carson Palmer) to Andy. It's helped us have the success we've had and those guys have been good players, productive players. Even when they've left out of here they've been productive. It works."

Fantasy Tip: Dalton can be a serviceable fantasy option again in 2015, especially if he has a full season with a healthy A.J. Green, as well as one of the best backfield tandems in the league. He won't necessarily be a Top 10 fantasy option at his position, but Dalton will be a sneaky FantasyScore play some weeks, and he is a decent fantasy backup in yearly formats.

Bengals | Andy Dalton won't have competition

Thu, 15 Jan 2015 11:33:45 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is not expected to enter next season with competition at quarterback, as the Bengals are not expected to draft another quarterback this year. "He's our guy and we're not going to shy away from that," says offensive coordinator Hue Jackson of Dalton and quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese offers, "He was better with the intangibles this year and the ball was better coming out of his hand. You could see that right away when he came back from the last offseason." Jackson is a fan of backup QB Jason Campbell, and the team was impressed with young QB A.J. McCarron.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton had his best completion percentage of his career this year at 64.2%, but he remains more of a mediocre QB1 based on matchups. In your fantasy football drafts next year, consider him best used as a potent backup.

Bengals | Marvin Lewis happy with Andy Dalton

Mon, 05 Jan 2015 14:27:39 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton showed improvement this season and is expected to become a better quarterback next season, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. Lewis said he is glad that Dalton is on the team.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton saw his numbers dip this season after a strong 2013 season. The team should have most of their offensive skill players back next season, which should help Dalton's status. Dalton probably will not enter next season as a starter in most fantasy leagues but he could be solid backup for owners.

Bengals | Andy Dalton has struggled in postseason

Sat, 03 Jan 2015 18:59:54 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has thrown one touchdown and six interceptions in three postseason starts.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton's ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) postseason resume is bad enough, and when you factor in his horrible performance against Indianapolis in Week 7, it is tough to take a chance on him at FantasyScore this weekend regardless of his price tag.

Bengals | Prime-time jitters for Andy Dalton?

Sat, 27 Dec 2014 19:09:22 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has thrown eight touchdowns and eight interceptions in eight career prime-time games.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton has actually thrown four touchdowns and one interception in two prime-time contests this year, but he has also averaged a paltry 175.0 passing yards in the same two games. Whether nerves play a factor or not, there are better options to turn to at the quarterback spot at FantasyScore in Week 17.

Bengals | Andy Dalton takes part in practice

Thu, 25 Dec 2014 15:46:42 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (illness) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton appears to be on track to play in Week 17 and may have a favorable matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers since they have allowed the third most points to quarterbacks over the last four weeks. Even with the matchup, owners should consider Dalton as a low-end No. 1 quarterback.

Bengals | Andy Dalton has improved in last month

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 15:50:38 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has improved in the last month ever since his terrible 2.0 passer rating against the Cleveland Browns five weeks ago. "It's that everybody is on the same page," head coach Marvin Lewis said. "We have to get to the right spots, he has to deliver accurate balls, protections and routes have to match. When they don't match, things are going to be bad." Dalton has rallied the team to a 3-1 record and his completion percentage hasn't been under 68 percent in the last four weeks. It's no surprise to offensive coordinator that Dalton's improved play has come as WR A.J. Green has returned to full health.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns have held their own against enemy signal callers this year, and Dalton ($5,800) can attest to that. Although he's performed better recently, his upside is limited against this Cleveland squad, making him a lukewarm fantasy football option at FantasyScore this weekend.
