Cowboys | DeMarco Murray getting support from QB

Fri, 23 Jan 2015 15:29:30 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray is getting support from QB Tony Romo to stay with the team long term. Romo said he is consistently talking to owner Jerry Jones about bringing him back in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Murray may be the odd man out if the team chooses to re-sign or franchise tag Dez Bryant this offseason. If Murray does indeed land somewhere else, his fantasy value could dip running behind a different offensive line.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray more than a rusher

Thu, 22 Jan 2015 18:22:23 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray was in pass protection on 52 more plays than any other running back on the roster in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: In addition to being the league's leading rusher, Murray was the team's most trusted back in pass protection. If he leaves as a free agent this offseason, the Cowboys, especially Tony Romo, could miss more than his running ability.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray could be cap casualty

Thu, 15 Jan 2015 19:15:15 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray will be tough sign to a long-term extension if WR Dez Bryant is also signed, team owner Jerry Jones said Thursday, Jan. 15. Jones called the prospect of signing both players "possible" but not "financially reasonable."

Fantasy Tip: Jones has already indicated that the team will use the franchise tag on Bryant if need be, which means Murray could be the odd man out if he isn't willing to take a little less to stay with Dallas. If Murray does land elsewhere, his fantasy value could dip a little without Dallas' stout offensive line paving the way.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray, team disagree on value

Tue, 13 Jan 2015 18:16:27 -0800

The Dallas Cowboys and impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray and disagree on his value. The team offered him a four-year deal worth slightly more than $16 million. He might test the open market, or the team could slap him with the franchise tag.

Fantasy Tip: Murray's long-term fantasy outlook is a bit murky. If he stays in Dallas, he has company in the backfield with Joseph Randle, but he would likely still be the top dog. Although, it is unlikely he'll see 497 touches again. However, if he tests the free agent waters and lands with another club, there are no guarantees he'll be the top tailback with little or no competition.

Cowboys | Franchise tag for DeMarco Murray?

Tue, 13 Jan 2015 09:11:13 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray, who will be a free agent this March, could receive a franchise or transition tag from the team if they reach a multi-year deal with WR Dez Bryant first. "I'm not worried about my future," Murray said. "I just lost a big game, the biggest game of my life. Just not worried about it right now. Just relax with my family and get away from it for a little bit."

Fantasy Tip: Murray was one of the biggest, if not the top, fantasy football players for the 2014 season. Heading into next year's drafts, Murray will likely be a top two or three pick in most fantasy drafts. However, you'll need to factor in his injury risk if you're prepared to take him with one of the top overall picks in your league.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray had 25 carries for a game-high 125 yards and a score in a 26-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has been able to score at least one touchdown in each of his last six games and has also started to be more involved in the passing game after suffering his hand injury. Murray is the most expensive running back on FantasyScore at $8,100 and could be a solid starting option for owners.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray not hampered by injury

Thu, 08 Jan 2015 15:37:39 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) has averaged 20 carries and 78 yards per game since breaking his hand Dec. 14 after averaging 25 carries and 121 yards per game in the first 14 contests of the season. Head coach Jason Garrett said any drop in carries for Murray isn't related to his hand, and the running back has proven that the injury hasn't hampered him. Murray's hand has felt good, and he won't change the hard plastic shell he's been using for extra protection this weekend against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his reduced numbers in the last few games, Murray ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) remains the fourth most expensive player at FantasyScore this weekend. His lack of outstanding production recently shouldn't be a reason to turn away from him in your daily lineups against the Packers, though.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) will be fine for the divisional round game against the Green Bay Packers. As FantasyScore's fourth most expensive commodity this weekend, he's one that deserves his price and remains a strong daily play.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) is the fourth most expensive player at FantasyScore this weekend against the Green Bay Packers. As one of the fantasy MVPs of the season, Murray is obviously worth considering for your daily lineups against the Packers this weekend.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) practiced in full Friday, Jan. 2, and is probable for the team's wild-card playoff game against the Detroit Lions.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) fully participated in practice Thursday, Jan. 1.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray a full participant

Wed, 31 Dec 2014 13:44:57 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,300) may not be worth the investment on FantasyScore this week. The Detroit Lions were the only team to allow fewer than 1,000 rushing yards this year -- 61 yards per game on the ground to running backs.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand, illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 26, and is listed as probable for Week 17.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (illness, hand) is expected to practice Friday, Dec. 26, after sitting out practice Thursday with an illness.

Thu, 25 Dec 2014 12:56:16 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (illness, hand) will not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 25, because of an illness.

Fantasy Tip: Murray should be able to play in Week 17 despite the illness, but owners should continue to monitor the situation. Murray probably will be limited to mostly running plays because of his hand. Owners on FantasyScore should see Murray has a No. 1 running back.

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 14:06:01 -0800

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) checked back into the Week 16 game against the Indianapolis Colts early in the second quarter.

Fantasy Tip: Murray had checked out of the game late in the first quarter, and he was wincing in pain. He is likely to be in and out of the lineup all day, especially if the team continues to lead. Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar are likely to see more carries than if Murray were at 100 percent.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray on sidelines

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 14:00:51 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) was removed in the final moments of the first quarter of the Week 16 game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was seen grimacing in pain on the sidelines.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys have a 14-0 lead after 15 minutes, so the team might be holding him out as a precaution since they have a healthy lead. There is no sense risking further injury to Murray's hand. This is why it was risky playing him in FantasyScore even if he was active.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray will dress

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 12:11:20 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) is active for the team's Week 16 game.

Fantasy Tip: Murray could be limited to mostly running games during the game since his injured hand likely will affect his ability to catch passes. Murray has a favorable matchup against the Indianapolis Colts this week but is a risky option on FantasyScore at $8,200.

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 10:18:07 -0800

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) is expected to play in Week 16 but may be limited in his pass catching and pass blocking because of the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Murray likely will receive most work on running plays since his hand likely would affect his ability to catch a pass or block. Murray is a risky option on FantasyScore at $8,200, and owners may want to consider other options if Murray will be limited during the game.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray suiting up

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 07:10:26 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) will play Sunday, Dec. 21, but the team is nervous how well he'll hold up in pass protection. If the team qualifies for the playoffs, he's likely to sit out Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Week 17 matters little, it's money time right now for Murray. He'll set you back $8,200 (16.4% of your cap) if you take him on FantasyScore this week.

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 12:47:34 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 19, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Murray will play in Week 16, but owners will need to check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. Murray may be limited by his hand during the game and is a very risky option to use on FantasyScore at $8,200.

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 07:49:35 -0800

Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) is likely to play in Week 16, according to a source. Murray has a high threshold for pain, and according to the source, the team left the decision up to Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,200; 16.4% of your cap) is a very risky play on FantasyScore this week. At his price point, we'd lean toward better options in case his workload is reduced.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray was limited Thursday

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 13:40:41 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) was listed as a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 18, after not practicing Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,200) seems primed to play against the Indianapolis Colts. He could have his touches limited a bit, but if he's in the starting lineup, he should be a good target at FantasyScore against a Colts squad that has been hurt by bruising rushers like Murray most of the year.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray not at further risk

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 11:34:19 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand), who was expected to take some team snaps in practice Thursday, Dec. 18, is in no more risk if he plays in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts than if he sits out this week, according to head coach Jason Garrett. Murray had a plate and screws put into his broken left hand to stabilize the fourth metacarpal. He's been wearing a hard plastic shell on top of his glove for more protection.

Fantasy Tip: As of now, all signs are pointing to Murray ($8,200) playing against the Colts. If he's playing, he should be in all standard league lineups and is a good source of points at FantasyScore.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) did not officially take part in the team's practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,200) took part in individual drills during practice, and the team is still gauging if he can play in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts. If he plays, he could be limited. Both Joseph Randle ($5,900) and Lance Dunbar ($3,000) are nice fall-back options at FantasyScore.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray works with first-team

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 10:18:18 -0800

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) wasn't expected to do a lot at practice Wednesday, Dec. 17, but he took first-team snaps at running back while wearing a pad on top of his left hand. Head coach Jason Garrett said the team wanted to see him work in practice to make sure he could carry the ball under duress. "You start with a plan and a vision for what you need to have there and then you just go through feedback, with DeMarco and the training staff, you try to get it to the point where it's functional and comfortable for him to go play," Garrett said of the added protection. "It's an evolution. They'll talk back and forth as the week goes on hopefully get something he's comfortable with."

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,200) has yet to be ruled out for Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts, which is a good matchup for running backs. He's a mighty risky play at FantasyScore, but the fact that he's practicing early in the week is a good sign that he'll suit up. If you go with Murray in your daily lineups, keep Joseph Randle ($5,900) and Lance Dunbar ($3,000) handy in case he doesn't play.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) is participating in individual drills during practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Murray had hand surgery two days ago, but it appears he has a chance to play in Week 16. Owners should monitor the situation during the week to receive a better idea of his status. Murray could be limited if he is active for the game. Murray is a risky option on FantasyScore at $8,200 and may be too expensive for some owners because of the hand injury.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray in good spirits

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 16:08:28 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand), who had his left hand heavily wrapped past his wrist Tuesday, Dec. 16, said he didn't have any pain after his surgery. "I'm good," Murray said. "I'm great." The team remains optimistic that Murray can play in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts, but they won't know until later in the week. Murray will wear a protective glove on his left hand with extra padding on top regardless of if he plays Sunday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,200) could easily be a game-time decision, making him an extremely risky FantasyScore option against the Indianapolis Colts. the team is confident in Joseph Randle ($5,900) and Lance Dunbar ($3,000) if they have to step up and carry the load. Dunbar has a much better chance at returning value in PPR leagues like FantasyScore if Murray doesn't play.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray to be game-time decision?

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 14:42:03 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) will likely be a game-time decision against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16, according to owner Jerry Jones. Jones said the team is still evaluating Murray's status for this weekend. "I think we just want to take a look at it. We don't know," Jones said. "I'm not so sure, when they say the definition of healing, how much can heal between now and Sunday." RBs Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar will prepare for increased workloads if Murray can't play, and RB Ryan Williams could be activated off the practice squad.

Fantasy Tip: With Dallas playing an afternoon game Sunday, that makes Murray ($8,200) even more risky at FantasyScore in Week 16. Randle ($5,900) and Dunbar ($3,000) are both more than acceptable plays against a weak Colts run D if Murray sits out. Dunbar is probably the better value play at FantasyScore, though, since it's a PPR league.

Cowboys | Owner optimistic on DeMarco Murray

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 10:14:28 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) has a good chance to play in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts despite having surgery on a broken left hand, according to owner Jerry Jones. However, Jones thinks RBs Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar can carry the load efficiently if Murray has to sit. Jones also added that Murray won't need to practice this week in order to play.

Fantasy Tip: As of right now, Murray's $8,200 FantasyScore salary seems much too risky against the Indianapolis Colts, who have been run on mostly all year. You'll need to keep track of Murray's status throughout the week, and the fact that they play an afternoon game makes him all the more risky. However, having either Randle ($5,900) or Dunbar ($3,000) to fall back on is nice.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray not risking further injury

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 06:15:19 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) isn't risking further injury by playing in Week 16. The team believes he can play.

Fantasy Tip: If Murray plays, we don't see a full workload. Murray ($8,200; 16.4% of your cap) would likely lose touches to Joseph Randle ($5,900; 11.8%) could have some value on FantasyScore if he etches a significant role.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray with early optimism

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 05:51:18 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) could play in Week 16, in the opinion of beat writer Bryan Broaddus. At least, that is the team's early thinking.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($8,200; 16.4% of your cap) is not a real good start on FantasyScore for Week 16. The matchup and the injury don't make it a worthwhile risk.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray facing uphill battle

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 14:23:55 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) is facing an uphill battle in terms of his availability for the team's Week 16 game, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. Jones said Murray should be able to play in Week 17 if he does not play Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to see what Murray can do during practice this week in order to have a better idea of his status for Week 16. Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar could share the work at running back if Murray misses the game. Randle may receive a majority of the carries, which would make him valuable in standard leagues. Dunbar could be a sleeper in point-per-reception leagues, because he could be more involved in the passing league.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray has good chance to play?

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 14:08:20 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) has a good chance to play in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts after breaking a bone in his left hand, according to a team source. "Obviously, DeMarco Murray has a broken bone in his hand," owner Stephen Jones said. "At the same time, he hasn't been ruled out. It's not something that if it responds well after surgery today, that he can't come back and play this weekend. It's probably a tough expectation to think that he can, but we'll see."

Fantasy Tip: Murray will be a risky selection at FantasyScore this week, but you'll want to monitor his practice status this week to see if he has a shot at playing. The Indianapolis Colts have been a doormat for running backs this year, so if Murray doesn't play, both Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar could be nice plays at FantasyScore.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray undergoing surgery

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 11:46:09 -0800

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) is undergoing surgery Monday, Dec. 15, to repair the broken fourth metacarpal in his hand, according to a source. Former Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith underwent a similar surgery during his career and missed one game.

Fantasy Tip: Murray may have to miss the team's Week 16 game because of the surgery, but he has not been ruled out yet. Murray's practice participation likely will give owners a better understanding of his status. Owners should have a backup plan ready in case Murray is not able to play. Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar likely will receive big workload boosts if Murray misses the game against the Indianapolis Colts, and it's a solid matchup for Dallas. It's unclear how the carries will be shared between Randle and Dunbar if Murray sits out, but Randle should likely be the waiver-wire priority here. However, Dunbar could be more valuable in PPR leagues such as FantasyScore.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray has broken bone in hand

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 11:26:28 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) suffered a broken bone in his hand during the team's Week 15 game and will undergo surgery Monday, Dec. 15, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. Murray has not been ruled out for Week 16 at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to watch his practice participation during the week to see if Murray is able to play in Week 16. Murray should be a starting option if he plays, but owners likely would need to lower expectations some because of the injury. Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle likely would share work if Murray misses the game, but Dunbar likely would be the more attractive option for owners since he probably would receive a majority of the carries.

Cowboys | No decrease in DeMarco Murray's load

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 21:47:26 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray carried the ball a career-high 32 times in the Week 14 game against the Chicago Bears, and he also had a career-best nine receptions. He said he feels great, and the workload isn't a concern to Murray or head coach Jason Garrett. "DeMarco is a guy who has shown he can handle the workload, both as a runner and a receiver," Garrett said Tuesday, Dec. 9. "He wants more. He never wants to come out of the game. He's a bell cow player and it doesn't look like he's slowing down at all to me. He feels great, he says he feels great and really looks like he's playing a very high level."

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners in weekly leagues will be glad to hear there is no decrease in the offing for Murray, especially as the playoffs continue in Week 15. FantasyScore owners continue to get their money's worth, too, even at a lofty salary of $7,900 (or 15.8 percent of the cap).

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray finished with 32 carries for 179 yards and a score and nine catches for 49 yards in a 41-28 win over the Chicago Bears Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was a workhorse, and with the Cowboys fighting to make the playoffs, it appears they have no plans on scaling back his heavy load. In fact, Dallas may be planning on using him more often down the stretch based on his 41 touches Thursday. As long as he is healthy, Murray should remain one of the safest options available at running back at FantasyScore.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray struggles

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 19:22:50 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray rushed for a season-low 73 yards in a 33-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Murray also averaged a season-worst 3.7 yards per carry, but he did salvage his day to a degree by finding the end zone. Overall, the Eagles were able to control Murray like no team has all season, and fantasy owners need to file this performance away for when these teams meet again in Week 15.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray ready to carry the load

Tue, 18 Nov 2014 09:30:30 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray, who has already passed career highs for rushing yards and carries, said he is ready for an even bigger role down the stretch. "I'm ready," Murray said. "Like I've said before, whatever they ask me to do I'm going to do it times 10. It's going to be an exciting next couple of weeks for us." He said the team's bye week allowed him to relax and recharge.

Fantasy Tip: Murray is obviously a must-start in all fantasy football leagues with the year he's been having. Coming out of the bye, you should definitely consider putting him on your FantasyScore roster against the New York Giants on Sunday night.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray finishes up

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 17:54:09 -0800

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (head) left to be evaluated for concussion in the Week 10 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. However, he was able to return to the game and had rush attempts in the fourth quarter before RB Joseph Randle finished up.

Fantasy Tip: Murray came back into the game, but did not run deep into the fourth quarter because of the lopsided score. Murray reached 100 yards before departing, and he appears to be fine after a scare for his fantasy owners.
