Tue, 03 Dec 2013 18:21:03 -0800
The Dallas Cowboys plan to ride RB DeMarco Murray as much as they can after losing RB Lance Dunbar (knee). "DeMarco Murray is our lead back, has been our lead back all year long, has done an excellent job for us, did a really good job in the game the other day again," head coach Jason Garrett said Tuesday, Dec. 3. "He'll be the lead dog. The other guys, (RBs Joseph Randle and Phillip Tanner) will have to step up if they have an opportunity if DeMarco can't go."
Fantasy Tip: If you're a Murray fantasy owner, this is music to your ears. Randle and Tanner are not real threats to push their way into a timeshare with Murray, so he will see a bulk of the carries in a league where in this day and age teams are using a two-back system. Over his past three games, Murray has 238 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and he has eight receptions for 79 yards over his past two outings.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Murray appears to be fully healed from his knee ailment, and he said he "felt fine" in Week 9. The disappointing side: Murray ran just four times for 33 yards, and the Cowboys remain heavily unbalance on offense in favor of the pass. Murray should be in your lineup as an RB2.
Mon, 04 Nov 2013 09:23:38 -0800
The Dallas Cowboys and QB Tony Romo threw the ball 52 times in their Week 9 win over the Minnesota Vikings and ran the ball just nine times. It's the first time Romo has won a game when he's thrown over 50 passes in a game since 2007.
Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys' offense remains uneven in terms of play calling. Perhaps they didn't want to overwork DeMarco Murray (knee) in his first game back.

Fri, 25 Oct 2013 20:33:39 -0700
Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle might make his second straight start in place of RB DeMarco Murray (knee) in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions, if Murray is unable to go. Officially, Murray is questionable, or 50-50 to play.
Fantasy Tip: Randle would face a Detroit Lions rushing defense which ranks 23rd in the NFL, allowing 115.1 yards per game on the ground. If Randle does indeed make the start, consider him a sneaky low-end RB2 or flex play in most fantasy leagues.
Fri, 25 Oct 2013 12:56:42 -0700
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Detroit Lions, but the team is optimistic that he will play after he went through a third straight day of limited practice Friday, Oct. 25. Murray missed Week 7 with a sprained knee. "He's got a real shot," executive vice president Stephen Jones said of Murray. "Wouldn't say for sure. I think it's still questionable but we'll kind of see how he feels after today's practice and we'll see how it feels on Sunday and we'll make a decision …. We want to do right for DeMarco for the season not just one game." RB Joseph Randle would start again if Murray isn't able to suit up. RB Lance Dunbar (hamstring) will also be back in Week 8.
Fantasy Tip: Basically, Murray will be a game-time decision this weekend. Check back Sunday morning to find out if he's playing. If he's in there, he should probably be in your starting lineup, depending on your other options.

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) practiced for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 24, and appears to be on track to start in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions.

Wed, 23 Oct 2013 14:53:48 -0700
Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 23, and he was wearing shoulder pads and sweatpants.

Wed, 16 Oct 2013 15:54:51 -0700
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) is preparing as if he will play in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles. "I am running, doing some good things with (trainer) Britt (Brown). We haven't said which way, what we're going to do yet. I think it all depends on how comfortable I am. We were able to do some things today and it felt good," Murray said. Owner Jerry Jones said Murray could sit out this week and return in Week 8 to face the Detroit Lions.
Fantasy Tip: Murray is probably being overly optimistic. The Cowboys won't rush him back, especially with his history of injuries and slow recoveries. Don't expect to be able to use him this weekend. Joseph Randle should see a large amount of work even if Murray miraculously plays.
Mon, 14 Oct 2013 15:29:08 -0700
Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) believes there is a chance he could play Week 7 despite suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament Week 6. Murray said his status for the game will depend on how he feels Friday, Oct. 18.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor his participation in practice this week and the inactive list if he is not ruled out before the game. There is a chance the team holds him out to give him more time to heal. If he is active for the game, he likely will be limited by the injury.
Mon, 14 Oct 2013 11:12:41 -0700
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) will miss the team's Week 7 game but may be able to play Week 8.
Fantasy Tip: With Murray out, Joseph Randle likely will see most of the carries with Phillip Tanner also receiving some playing time. Randle should be considered a flex option while Murray is out. Tanner likely will be just a bench option at this point.
Mon, 14 Oct 2013 09:35:05 -0700
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (knee) is dealing with a left medial collateral ligament sprain in his knee, and he'll undergo an MRI exam Monday, Oct. 14. Murray was injured in the second quarter against the Washington Redskins and entered the day ranked fifth in the league with 399 rushing yards. It's unknown if Murray will be able to play in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Fantasy Tip: Murray will probably be questionable in Week 7, so keep tabs on his status during the week. It's not a long-term injury, but Murray has been injury-prone and isn't what we'd call a quick healer. If he can't play, the Cowboys would likely go with some combination of Phillip Tanner and Joseph Randle in the backfield.

Thu, 19 Sep 2013 10:38:59 -0700
ESPN NFL analyst Louis Riddick believes that Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray does not do a good job avoiding tacklers in games. "DeMarco is a hard runner, but I have always had some issues with DeMarco because he is very, very, very straight line," Riddick said. "He has no ability to make people miss.
"As a matter of fact, you saw numerous times that there were some holes that DeMarco could have got through, but he is a guy who has to gather himself to really make hard, sharp cuts to exploit those running lanes. Sometimes it looks like he's leaning so far forward he's stumbling, his head's down and he'll just run into the back of his own lineman, run into holes where it's obviously clogged up and he's not able to move laterally."
Tue, 17 Sep 2013 09:43:45 -0700
Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said the team needs to put more of an emphasis on the running game in order to balance out the offense after their 17-16 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2. RB DeMarco Murray had only 12 carries against the Chiefs and didn't run the ball after the 2:12 mark in the third quarter. "Obviously we want to have more balance, not only more balance at the end of the game but more balance throughout the game," Garrett said. "We have to run the ball more than 16 times in the game, and we have to be able to run it throughout the game. We just simply have to do a better job of that." The Cowboys are averaging 62 yards rushing through the first two weeks.
Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys preached the same thing after their Week 1 victory, and they led that entire game. It's frustrating to see for Murray owners, but if the team remains committed to improving their offense, he needs to touch the ball more.
Tue, 10 Sep 2013 21:57:17 -0700
The Dallas Cowboys ran 51 pass plays and just 21 running plays despite never trailing in the Week 1 game against the New York Giants. Head coach Jason Garrett said the team would like to be more balanced going forward, which might be even better news for RB DeMarco Murray. He still posted 86 yards on 20 carries, including five runs for 32 yards in the fourth quarter. "You want to be balanced, attack them downhill, attack them different ways and have it all work together," Garrett said.
Fantasy Tip: The Week 1 workload translated to 29 percent rushes, and 71 percent passes. Last season, the Cowboys ran the ball 34 percent of the time, posting the second-fewest rushing attempts in the league. More balance will help the fantasy appeal of Murray going forward.
Fri, 16 Aug 2013 13:04:35 -0700
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray said he is excited to play behind the team's offensive line and believes they can have a very good season. "These guys are working hard. I'm very, very proud of the guys we've got, the five starters and the guys behind them. I wouldn't want to be behind any other line. I love these guys. I've got a lot of respect for these guys. They're going to have a great year for us," Murray said.

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, RB DeMarco Murray and LB DeMarcus Ware did not play in the first preseason game against the Miami Dolphins Sunday, Aug. 4, but they are expected to suit up in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 9, against the Oakland Raiders. Fri, 02 Aug 2013 11:41:46 -0700
The Dallas Cowboys could sit DE DeMarcus Ware (shoulder), RB DeMarco Murray and WR Dez Bryant (hip) in their first preseason game Sunday, Aug. 4.
Tue, 30 Jul 2013 18:16:31 -0700
Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (thumb) showed well in the team's scrimmage, and is off to a good start in training camp, according to head coach Jason Garrett. Still, Randle is behind RB Lance Dunbar for the race for the backup job to RB DeMarco Murray, and RB Phillip Tanner has reportedly been more consistent as well.
Fantasy Tip: Randle missed practice in the offseason due to a thumb injury, so he has gotten behind a bit. However, he has more upside than Dunbar and Tanner. Right now, he is only worth drafting in long-term keeper formats.
