San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore feels he has plenty left in the tank despite the team's plans to ease his workload in coming years. RBs Brandon Jacobs, Kendall Hunter, Anthony Dixon, Rock Cartwright and LaMichael James are all on roster and will threaten Gore's playing time. "I feel like I still got a lot left in my tank," Gore said. "I want to show it off that I still got a lot left in my tank and I can play at a high level. I will play at a high level as long as God blesses me to be healthy so I can go out and do something that I love."

San Francisco 49ers rookie RB LaMichael James said he is willing to do anything he can to get on the field during his first season. He returned 64 kickoffs and 14 punts in his college career, so his experience as a returner could help him. "I can do anything they ask of me as far as running the ball. I can even run down on kickoffs. Block field goals. Whatever the team needs me to do as to win ballgames, that's what I'm going to do," James said.

James was surprised to be selected by the team, noting he only talked with them at the NFL Combine. James joins a crowded 49ers backfield, which includes Frank Gore, Brandon Jacobs and Kendall Hunter, who is a similarly sized back.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said Thursday, Feb. 23, that RB Kendall Hunter is likely to see a bigger role going forward. "You saw a lot of Kendall Hunter last year. Don't think there would be any reason not to. He did a fabulous job for us in two phases - offensive and in the area of special teams," Harbaugh said. "And he just works so darn hard at it. And he likes football so much and he's willing to spend extra classroom time."

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh gave the indication that he may not push RB Frank Gore (knee) in Week 11 with RBs Kendall Hunter and Anthony Dixon more than capable of carrying the load. "I would plan on (Gore) playing, but you just feel like right now that we've got a stable of backs," Harbaugh said. "We've got Frank Gore. We've got Kendall Hunter. We've got fresh legs in Anthony Dixon. This bodes really well for our football team." The team has a short week in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens, which may be even more reason to rest Gore.
