Diamondbacks | Rubby De La Rosa avoids arbitration

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 18:46:44 -0800

The Arizona Diamondbacks have avoided salary arbitration with SP Rubby De La Rosa by agreeing to a one-year deal worth $2.35 million.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa went 14-9 with a 4.67 ERA in 32 starts last season, with 150 strikeouts in 188 2/3 innings. He's worth considering as a middle-of-the-rotation arm in NL-only fantasy leagues, although his ERA is a tad high and his 7.2 K/9 isn't eye-popping.

MLB | Arizona-Texas in trade talks

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 11:22:45 -0800

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers are set to sit down and talk trades of pitchers at the winter meetings Wednesday, Dec. 9. The D-backs have a surplus of starting pitching after acquiring SPs Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller, and the Rangers have bullpen depth, and RP Steven Tolleson is of interest to Arizona. RP Keone Kela is also drawing significant trade interest. Diamondbacks SPs Rubby De La Rosa, Archie Bradley, Zack Godley and Chase Anderson could interest Texas.

Fantasy Tip: Talks appear to just be in initial stages, so nothing is imminent on this front, but it all makes plenty of sense. If Tolleson is traded away, Kela will be very attractive as a low-cost closing option for fantasy owners.

Diamondbacks | Rubby De La Rosa stays hot

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 21:07:28 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out six over seven innings in a win over the Cincinnati Reds Friday, Aug. 21, and he is 5-0 in seven starts since the All-Star break.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) still owns a 4.32 ERA for the year, but he has a 2.54 ERA since the break. He won't strike out a ton of batters, but he isn't a bad value play at FantasyScore right now.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa (11-5) allowed two runs on seven hits over seven innings in a victory over the Cincinnati Reds Friday, Aug. 21, with one walk and six strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) is 5-0 with a 2.54 ERA in seven starts since the Midsummer Classic and makes a nice value play in FantasyScore.

Diamondbacks | Rubby De La Rosa pitching well

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 11:57:22 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa is 4-0 with a 2.54 ERA in his last six starts. He picked up a no-decision after allowing only one run and seven hits over seven innings against the Atlanta Braves in his last start. He faces the Cincinnati Reds Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has a fine chance to keep the good times rolling against a Cincy team that has the second-lowest OPS (.638) in August. They also just lost Marlon Byrd to a trade and Billy Hamilton to the DL, and Brandon Phillips could miss another game due to injury.

Diamondbacks | Rubby De La Rosa hot at home

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 10:13:12 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa is 3-1 with a 2.76 ERA in his last five home starts. He takes on the Philadelphia Phillies Monday, Aug. 10, at Chase Field.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is a good strikeout pitcher and has pitched well recently, especially at home. Very few of the Phillies projected starters have seen him in his career, and he could be in line for a win. He is an affordable and intriguing matchup play in daily leagues in spite of the Phillies hot bats since the All-Star break.

Diamondbacks | Rubby De La Rosa wins again

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 21:21:18 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa allowed two earned runs, two hits and three walks with three strikeouts over five innings in a win against the Washington Nationals Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has won three straight decisions and he hasn't lost in four straight starts, lowering his ERA from 5.06 to 4.56 since July 12. He isn't a great FantasyScore option, but he is a solid option when the matchup is right.

Diamondbacks | Rubby De La Rosa back in action

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 22:51:03 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa is scheduled to start Thursday, June 30, against the Houston Astros. He has allowed just one earned run over the past 15 innings.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has posted good results over the past couple of outings, and he should rack up big strikeout totals against the Astros, who strike out more than anyone in the American League.

Diamondbacks | Rubby De La Rosa pitching well of late

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 15:55:58 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in his last three starts, and he has pitched well with C Welington Castillo behind the plate. De La Rosa is 6-3 on the year with a 4.69 ERA and has allowed 14 runs in 10 innings in both of his starts against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who he faces Tuesday, June 30. He allowed nine runs and 10 hits in his last start against the Dodgers June 8.

Fantasy Tip: De La Rosa ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is striking out a healthy 8.2 hitters per nine innings this year and can be a profitable pitcher play in the right matchups on FantasyScore. However, the risk outweighs the reward against the Dodgers tonight in a hitter-friendly ballpark. The Dodgers also lead the National League in home runs.

Diamondbacks | Rubby De La Rosa pitches gem

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 17:40:59 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa tossed eight shutout innings, allowing eight hits and striking out six, in a victory over the San Francisco Giants Sunday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: It was De La Rosa's ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) first win since May 12, and he still owns an ugly 5.27 ERA for the year. He does have decent strikeout potential, but he needs to log a couple of more solid outings before he should be considered at FantasyScore.
