Redskins | Jordan Reed will visit a doctor |
Mon, 17 Oct 2016 12:55:49 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) will visit an independent doctor Tuesday, Oct. 18, according to head coach Jay Gruden.
Fantasy Tip: Reed doesn't want to rush back, especially since he's dealt with so many concussions during the course of his football career. If he sits again, then Vernon David will start again. Davis scored last week, but he doesn't receive enough opportunities to be a TE1.

Redskins | Matt Jones receives vote of confidence |
Sat, 26 Mar 2016 14:43:38 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones (hip) appears to be the prohibitive favorite to shoulder the load in 2016, according to head coach Jay Gruden. "Matt played well and we're very excited about him; we let a heck of a running back, and a very productive running back (Alfred Morris), go because we have Matt. … We're taking a bit of a gamble here, but based on our professional opinion, we believe he can handle it and be very, very effective at it, toting the rock," Gruden said.
Fantasy Tip: General manager Scot McCloughan likely drafted Jones with the intention he would eventually become a carbon copy of Marshawn Lynch, who McCloughan traded for when he was in the Seattle Seahawks' front office. While Washington will probably let Chris Thompson and perhaps Pierre Thomas steal some occasional snaps in 2016, it appears Jones will be given a shot to be a featured back. Owners should view him as a solid RB2 - with RB1 upside - at the moment.

Redskins | Washington addressing Matt Jones' fumbles |
Sat, 19 Mar 2016 15:20:41 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones is positioned to start 2016 as the team's every-down back, but he will need to cut down on his five fumbles (on 144 carries) during his rookie season - tied for the second-highest total in the NFL. "When he's in traffic, he protects it pretty well, it's when he gets outside he gets a little bit loose with it and the guys that he doesn't see are the ones that pokes it away. So he's just got to be more secure with the ball all the time, not just when he's in traffic," Washington head coach Jay Gruden said.
Fantasy Tip: Jones had plenty of highs (123 yards rushing and two touchdowns in Week 2; 131 yards receiving and a score in Week 10) during his rookie season, but his inability to keep the ball secure forced him into a committee with Alfred Morris and Chris Thompson. Morris appears unlikely to return to the team and Thompson is recovering from shoulder surgery, so Jones will have plenty of time to make an impression this spring and summer. The second-year back is a high-upside RB2 at the moment.

Redskins | Robert Griffin to start |
Wed, 18 Feb 2015 10:16:43 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will go into the season as the team's starting quarterback, according to head coach Jay Gruden.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should probably not count on Griffin as their starting quarterback heading into next season, but he probably should be considered as a No. 2 quarterback option on draft day. He also could have good value in FantasyScore depending on the price and matchup.

Redskins | Jay Gruden's job at risk |
Sat, 06 Dec 2014 16:22:53 -0800
The Washington Redskins may fire head coach Jay Gruden after the season. Multiple team employees revealed that Gruden is done with QB Robert Griffin III's spotlight-craving antics and shortcomings in the pocket. An unnamed Redskins official leaked a report that Griffin could start again this season, which lends credibility to the thought that owner Daniel Snyder and general manager Bruce Allen are still in Griffin's court. Gruden believes he needs a clean break from Griffin to focus on fixing Washington's 3-9 team. And if Snyder and Allen commit to Griffin as the starter in 2015, Gruden could be "one and done," a team official said.

A decision on if Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (ankle) will play in Week 8 will come Monday, Oct. 27, according to head coach Jay Gruden.
Fantasy Tip: It would seem very unlikely that Griffin would be ready to go this week, and with a Monday night game, it is too risky to put him in your lineup. Look elsewhere in FantasyScore this week.
