Allen Wilson, of the Buffalo News, reporting for the Sporting News, reports Buffalo Bills QB J.P. Losman got his first look at LG Derrick Dockery (6-6, 330) and RT Langston Walker (6-8, 345) last week when the team began its offseason program. Losman was sacked 47 times last season, but that number could go down dramatically with the two hulks joining stud LT Jason Peters up front. DL Sean Gilbert, CB Doug Evans and CB Jimmy Hitchcock are all candidates to restructure their deals or be released. The team is likely to cut ties with Evans or Hitchcock, or possibly both. The Panthers should also get $1.1 million in cap relief from DE Jason Peter as the team will either release him or he'll retire.

Pat Yasinskas reports for the Charlotte Observer the Carolina Panthers will face some tough decisions on the defensive line after the season. DE Mike Rucker, who is having a breakout season, and DT Brentson Buckner, who is under contract through 2002, seem certain to return. Rookie DT Kris Jenkins should be back too. DT Larry Chester is poised to become a free agent, but the team would like him back. DT Sean Gilbert and his $10.165 million cap hit next season may be thr biggest decision. Other tough choices will be DEs Chris Slade and Jay Williams. DE Jason Peter (neck) is expected to retire. Next year's draft is expected to be very deep with top-notch defensive linemen, which would help the Panthers.
