Packers | Randall Cobb needs a bounce back

Wed, 13 Jul 2016 20:23:26 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb led the team with 79 receptions in 2015, but he managed a career-low 10.5 yards per catch in 2015. He also had 14 dropped passes, more than any other Green Bay receiver over the past 25 years. And when Cobb drew more attention than usual from the slot, he couldn't separate from elite corners or nickel backs.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb didn't have a lot of help on the other side, as Jordy Nelson missed the season and Davante Adams was inconsistent. Cobb should benefit from the consistency of Nelson, but he also should see less targets and receptions as long as Nelson is the top dog and on the field. Cobb remains a Top 25 fantasy option at his position, however.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers, others excused

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 09:23:25 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and other select veterans have been excused from mandatory minicamp this week by head coach Mike McCarthy. WRs Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson were also included in that group. "The approach is different than the past," McCarthy said. "So, it's obviously tailored toward the younger players." QB Brett Hundley will get most of the work with what is left of the No. 1 offense.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers are playing in the Hall of Fame Game this preseason, so their training camp will begin a week earlier in July than it did a year ago. McCarthy wants to make sure his veterans are well rested. Rodgers remains an elite fantasy QB worth taking in the early rounds, especially since he'll have a healthy Nelson to throw to in 2016.

Packers | Randall Cobb would love less attention

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 22:00:51 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb was unable to step up and fill the role as No. 1 wideout once WR Jordy Nelson (knee) went down, but part of the reason he saw so much attention was the failure of WR Davante Adams to step up as a secondary receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb still managed 79 receptions, but he also turned in a career-worst 10.5 yards per catch. He is much better as a complementary receiver rather than the go-to option. He is still a solid WR2/3 or flex fantasy option in most formats, but he'll need Nelson to bounce back.

Packers | Randall Cobb released from hospital

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 10:42:24 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (chest) said he was released from the hospital Sunday, Jan. 17, and that he is feeling much better. Cobb suffered a bruised lung Saturday, Jan. 16, against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: There's still some recovery time ahead for Cobb, and he has several months to be ready for offseason activities, so he should be fine. He seems to have avoided a serious injury last night.

Packers | Bruised lung for Randall Cobb

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 19:07:12 -0800

Updating a previous story, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (chest) suffered a bruised long in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Given the nature of the injury, there is a chance Cobb could miss more time if the Packers advance to the conference title game.

Packers | Randall Cobb won't return

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 18:24:09 -0800

Updating a previous story, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (chest) has been ruled out for the remainder of the NFC divisional round game against the Arizona Cardinals Saturday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: With Cobb sidelined, Jared Abbrederis should see plenty of snaps across from James Jones.

Packers | Randall Cobb carted off

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 18:01:10 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (chest) was carted off against the Arizona Cardinals in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 16, and is questionable to return with a chest injury.

Fantasy Tip: If Cobb is unable to return, James Jones and Jared Abbrederis should see plenty of targets the rest of the way.

Packers | Randall Cobb lacking big games

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 15:55:39 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb hasn't topped 100 receiving yards in 15 games.

Fantasy Tip: A matchup with the Arizona Cardinals doesn't figure to be the time for that trend to stop. However, with Davante Adams likely out, Cobb ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) should take on a bigger role in the passing game and could be a surprise out of the slot.

Packers | Randall Cobb scores in playoff win

Sun, 10 Jan 2016 18:53:07 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb posted three receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown in the NFC Wild Card Game Sunday, Jan. 10, against the Washington Redskins. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is a decent FantasyScore option to target heading into the Divisional Round against the Arizona Cardinals despite the fact he had just three grabs for 15 yards in the first meetings in Week 16.

Packers | Unwelcomed streak for Randall Cobb

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 20:12:03 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb has not had a 100-yard receiving game since Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: In addition to the lack of big games, Cobb ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) has been held to 40 yards or less in four of his last five. Even with the player pool limited at FantasyScore for wild-card weekend, he is a risky option.

Packers | Randall Cobb, Davante Adams do little

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 22:55:57 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb posted six receptions for 37 yards in the Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings, and he added four catches for 54 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Adams and Cobb see plenty of targets, and both are decent WR2/3 or flex FantasyScore options for the game next Sunday in Washington.

Packers | Randall Cobb nearly invisible

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 20:36:48 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb managed just three grabs for 15 yards on three targets in the Week 16 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb really killed his fantasy owners in the playoffs in standard leagues, posting just eight grabs for 55 yards over his past two games while failing to find the end zone in five outings dating back to Nov. 22.

Packers | Randall Cobb more involved

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 19:09:33 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb had eight catches on 12 targets for 81 yards in a 28-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb tied a season high in both receptions and targets, and it is worth noting that head coach Mike McCarthy took over the play calling prior to the game. It could be a good sign for Cobb's value going forward.

Packers | Randall Cobb has bad day

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 10:05:39 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb has just two catches for 24 yards on nine targets in the Week 11 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He had two to three drops and wasn't on the same page with QB Aaron Rodgers.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb saved his stat line with a touchdown catch against the Vikes. He was also targeted a total of 22 times the previous two games, so Rodgers continues to look his way. However, as a Cobb owner you have to be a bit worried about the poor conversion rate and the lack of chemistry he has with Rodgers right now.

Packers | Randall Cobb struggles against Minnesota

Sat, 21 Nov 2015 18:28:17 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb faces the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11, and he has just one touchdown in five career games against the Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) has finished with 53 receiving yards or less in five of his last six games this year, and his slump is unlikely to end against Minnesota. Don't waste your money at FantasyScore.

Packers | GB offense lacking speed

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 09:10:25 -0800

The Green Bay Packers have the slowest team in the league when it comes to skill positions in the passing game. The combined average 40-yard dash time of WRs Randall Cobb (4.55 seconds), Davante Adams (4.56), James Jones (4.6) plus TE Richard Rodgers (4.87) ranks as a league-worst 4.65 seconds. One of the biggest reasons the Packers receivers can't get open consistently this year is because of their lack of speed, according to an NFL scout. The loss of WR Jordy Nelson and his 4.51-second 40-yard dash has slowed this offense down. WRs Jeff Janis and Ty Montgomery are much faster, but neither is a top three receiver for the team right now, and Montgomery has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: As Demovsky notes, the biggest thing hurting this aerial game is the absence of Nelson as one of Aaron Rodgers' ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) favorite go-to targets. Rodgers will stay afloat but shouldn't be considered an elite QB1 week in and week out. This weekend against the Detroit Lions he should at least be able to put up respectable numbers for those that pay up for him on FantasyScore.

Packers | Randall Cobb headed for another dud?

Fri, 06 Nov 2015 21:02:40 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb faces the Carolina Panthers in Week 9, and he could be matched up against CB Josh Norman.

Fantasy Tip: For the second week in a row, Cobb ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) could be a bust at FantasyScore. He was shut down by Denver's stout secondary, and Norman and the Panthers have held the No. 1 receivers for their opponents to a combined 232 yards and no scores this year.

Packers | Randall Cobb held in check

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 22:24:55 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb posted six receptions in the Week 8 game against the Denver Broncos, but he managed just 27 yards on nine targets.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos defense clamped down on the pass attack of the Packers, and Cobb's 27 yards actually led the team. At $7,600 (15.2% of cap) he is normally a decent FantasyScore play, but obviously that wasn't the case Sunday against a top-notch defense.

Packers | Randall Cobb hampered by shoulder?

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 10:17:36 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) has 11.7 yards per catch this year, which is down from 14.1 last year, and he's been dealing with a shoulder injury that might be affecting him more than he'd like to admit.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) had a week to rest, so he could be closer to full strength in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. The problem is Denver allows the second-fewest PPR points (24.2) to receivers per game. Look to fade Cobb in daily formats this weekend.

Packers | Randall Cobb, James Jones will play

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 13:24:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers WRs Randall Cobb (shoulder) and James Jones (hamstring) are both listed as probable for Week 6 against the San Diego Chargers. Cobb practiced in full Friday, Oct. 16, while Jones was a limited participant.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Davante Adams (ankle) returns to face the Chargers this Sunday, both Cobb ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) and Jones ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) should remain heavily involved in the passing attack. Jones is still a fine value pick on FantasyScore.

Packers | Three GB wide receivers limited

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 14:38:14 -0700

Green Bay Packers WRs Randall Cobb (shoulder), Davante Adams (ankle) and James Jones (hamstring) were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: The biggest concern in this group is Cobb ($7,600, 15.2% of cap), because he was actually downgraded from full to limited. If Cobb is limited again or doesn't practice tomorrow, that's an even bigger red flag that will need to be watched before Sunday. If Adams ($4,600, 9.2%) plays, it's hard to gauge how much he'll play or be targeted since he's missed more time than Cobb and Jones ($6,700, 13.4%). Stay tuned to this situation over the next couple of days.

Packers | Full participation for Randall Cobb

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 14:52:46 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) will be good to go in Week 6 against the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers have allowed the fewest PPR points to receivers per game (23.5) but can be beat, especially by an elite quarterback and his favorite receiver. Cobb remains a safe daily option.

Packers | Randall Cobb, James Jones will play

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 13:54:04 -0700

Green Bay Packers WRs Randall Cobb (shoulder) and James Jones (hamstring) were both limited in practice Friday, Oct. 9, but both are listed as probable for Week 5 against the St. Louis Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) of cap remains one of the safer receiver picks on FantasyScore, while Jones ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) should also continue to be a popular daily selection with Davante Adams likely out again.

Packers | Randall Cobb limited

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 14:04:12 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) has been able to play his season despite the shoulder injury and should be in the lineup against the St. Louis Rams in Week 5. Cobb has posted solid numbers this season and could be a fine option for fantasy owners.

Packers | Randall Cobb, James Jones limited

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 15:34:38 -0700

Green Bay Packers WRs Randall Cobb (shoulder) and James Jones (hamstring) were both limited participants in practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Both Cobb ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) and Jones ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) should be fine for this weekend against the St. Louis Rams and both receivers have been great for their fantasy owners. With Aaron Rodgers at the top of his game and receiver Davante Adams still hurt, Cobb and Jones should both once again be popular daily picks in Week 5.

Packers | Randall Cobb probable against SF

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:12:34 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 2, and is probable for Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is a must-start in traditional leagues and is as safe as they come for receivers on FantasyScore. He's worth paying up for, especially if Davante Adams (ankle) sits out.

Packers | Full practice for Randall Cobb

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 14:53:41 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) will be good to go for Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. He should see plenty of targets with Jordy Nelson out and now Davante Adams likely out, just don't expect the same output as last week when he scored three times.

Packers | Randall Cobb takes part in practice

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 15:20:25 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) has been able to play in every game despite the injury and should be on the field for the Week 4 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Cobbs should be a weekly starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Packers | Randall Cobb scores three touchdowns

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 21:53:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb finished with seven receptions for 91 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) has at least five receptions in each of his first three games, and he has been targeted 23 times with a total of 207 receiving yards over the past two outings. He is a must-have in FantasyScore at this price level, but look for his cap number to go up heading into Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Packers | Randall Cobb expected to play

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 17:51:15 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) is listed as probable for Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) should do plenty of damage against a Kansas City defense that has allowed five passing touchdowns in two games this year, and he is a great option at FantasyScore.

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 15:37:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Sept. 25.

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 22:43:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb hauled in eight receptions for 116 yards in the Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He was targeted 11 times.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is a must-start FantasyScore option, and he might have even more targets going forward if Eddie Lacy is sidelined for any amount of time.

Packers | Randall Cobb active for SNF

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 16:40:14 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) is active for the Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) was probable for the game, so there was little worry he would be sidelined. Despite what looks like a tough matchup on paper, Cobb should still shine for FantasyScore players.

Packers | Randall Cobb probable

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 14:51:34 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) is listed as probable for the Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He is listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Sept. 18, but this is an estimation since the team did not hold a practice.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) will continue to be the team's No. 1 receiver and should see a solid amount of targets during the game. Cobb likely will be matched up with Richard Sherman for most of the game, but he should still be a starting option that comes with some risk.

Packers | Randall Cobb limited again

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 13:26:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Despite him being limited during practice this week, Cobb ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) should still be good to go for Week 2. It's a tough matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, though, so his asking price on FantasyScore might be a little too high.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) said he did not suffer any setbacks with his shoulder during the Week 1 game against the Chicago Bears. He said he is not sure when his injured shoulder will be completely healed.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb posted solid numbers in Week 1 despite the injury when he caught five passes for 38 yards and one touchdowns against the Bears. Cobb will be the No. 1 receiver as long as he is on the field and would be a solid starting option most weeks.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) will play against the Chicago Bears in Week 1 but is not 100% healthy and will wear extra protection on his injured shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) could receive more time off than normal during the game but should be on the field for most of the offensive snaps. Cobb will be the Packers' No. 1 wide receiver this season and should be a weekly starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) was limited in practice again Friday, Sept. 11, but he is listed as probable for Week 1 against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) certainly won't be 100% in the season opener, and he'll have to play through some pain. However, as one of the league's better receivers, he could still put up excellent numbers in a solid matchup against Chicago.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) should be good to go for Week 1 against the Chicago Bears. Cobb is Aaron Rodgers' main target this year with Jordy Nelson out for the season. He may be on a mild pitch count to start the season, but he's still worth the investment on FantasyScore.

Packers | Randall Cobb's range of motion limited

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 23:49:26 -0700

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) has limited range of motion in his right shoulder as it heals, but he said he'll play Sunday, Sept. 13, in Week 1. Cobb practiced Wednesday, Sept. 9, with extra padding and protection beneath his jersey. Cobb said the 11-on-11 reps he did were valuable as he learns to understand and tolerate the pain of players hitting, bumping or making contact with his shoulder. Cobb also said his sleeping pattern has been disrupted due to the injury. "I have to deal with this for a few weeks," Cobb said. "That's part of it. I'm going to do everything I can to protect myself, but I have to play fearless. I've always been a fearless player."

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) sounds like a risky play on FantasyScore when you couple the pain management with the increased attention on him now that Jordy Nelson (knee) is lost for the season. In traditional leagues, he's someone you need in your lineups. However, with the dearth of Week 1 options at your disposal, you might look elsewhere on FantasyScore.

Packers | Randall Cobb tore up CHI in 2014

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 19:24:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb posted 11 receptions for 185 yards and three touchdowns in two starts against the Chicago Bears in 2014. The Packers open with the Bears in Chicago in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) is the top receiving option for Aaron Rodgers with Jordy Nelson out for the season. At this price level he is a bit costly, but he is a good FantasyScore play given his recent track record against the Bears.

Packers | Randall Cobb practices

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 12:48:55 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) participated in all individual drills during practice Wednesday, Sept. 9, including punt and kickoff returns.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Cobb will be able to play in some fashion this weekend, but we'll see how a full padded practice treats him and his shoulder. He could have a big game if he's able to play a normal amount of snaps. Cobb ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) would also be an advisable play against the Chicago Bears on FantasyScore in that case as well .

Packers | Randall Cobb doesn't think he needs practice

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 16:12:51 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) said he'd be comfortable starting in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears even if he doesn't practice next week. However, wide receivers coach Alex Van Pelt would like to see Cobb play before the season opener. Van Pelt said it's realistic for Cobb to return before Week 1, and he has no doubts that Cobb could play at a high level against the Bears even without practice.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is clearly the Packers No. 1 target for Aaron Rodgers with Jordy Nelson out for the year, and he remains a high-end WR1 in fantasy drafts. However, depending on how much he practice next week, he might not be a slam dunk on FantasyScore in Week 1. Davante Adams will surely be a popular daily pick if Cobb is limited at all.

Packers | Randall Cobb expects to be ready

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 15:17:05 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) thinks his sprained right shoulder will be good to go to play in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears in 12 days. "I don't plan on missing a game," Cobb said. "I'm doing everything in my power to get back before then." However, there remains swelling in his shoulder, but he said he's doing much better than when he was injured in the preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, Aug. 29. Cobb did not practice Tuesday, Sept. 1, but watched from the sidelines.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Cobb doesn't suffer some sort of setback, he should be good to go for Week 1 against the Bears. Even with Jordy Nelson out for the year, Cobb should be a top-tier WR1 in all formats worth taking in the early second round. His targets should increase significantly with Nelson on the shelf.

Packers | Randall Cobb has AC joint sprain

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 13:36:06 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) has been diagnosed with an AC joint sprain, after undergoing further tests Sunday, Aug. 30, according to a source. He suffered the injury in a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, Aug. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb's status for the season opener against the Chicago Bears is in question, although the injury is considered to be minor. If he is not able to play in Week 1, Davante Adams would serve as the team's No. 1 receiver.

Packers | Randall Cobb's role unlikely to change

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 16:02:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb said he feels no pressure to replace WR Jordy Nelson (knee) as the team's No. 1 receiver this year now that Nelson is lost for the season. "I don't think that is an issue," Cobb said. "I pressed last year in the beginning of the season, and I'm not going to do that again. There's no need for that. Aaron's going to do his job, he's going to get us the ball. It's my job when I get those opportunities to make things happen." Cobb had 91 catches for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014, and his role might not change drastically with Nelson out. Cobb has typically been a slot receiver for Green Bay, while Nelson has played on the outside.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers will still likely use plenty of three-receiver sets and keep Cobb in the slot role, so his value as a No. 1 fantasy receiver shouldn't change much with Nelson's injuries, and he should be targeted plenty. Davante Adams is the one who benefits the most, and he's a WR3 now.
