Diamondbacks | No Welington Castillo vs. St. Louis

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 13:53:25 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks C Welington Castillo is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 28. C Chris Herrmann is starting behind the plate and batting sixth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Castillo is picking up where he left off in 2015 after joining the Diamondbacks, as he has six home runs and 12 RBI with a .290/.351/.580 slash line to start the season. Herrmann has a tough matchup against Wacha, and he should be viewed as a low-end start Thursday, especially in daily contests. Plus, Herrmann is just 3-for-25 to start the season.

Diamondbacks | Welington Castillo sitting

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 13:59:56 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks C Welington Castillo is out of the lineup Saturday, April 23, and C Chris Herrmann is hitting eighth. SS Nick Ahmed has also been bumped up to sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Herrmann is just 1-for-20 (.050) on the season and isn't worth the start. Ahmed has cooled off and is 3-for-26 (.115) the last seven days. He could still be worth a low-end flyer against Juan Nicasio.

Diamondbacks | Two D-Backs sitting Thursday

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 09:40:34 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed and C Welington Castillo are out of the lineup Thursday, April 21, with 2B Phil Gosselin hitting sixth and C Chris Herrmann hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Gosselin is 5-for-9 (.556) with a homer the last seven days. He's a low-end flyer worth using against Johnny Cueto. Herrmann is just 1-for-17 (.059) on the season and isn't worth consideration.

Diamondbacks | Quintet of Arizona hitters catch a break

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 12:02:26 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt, OF David Peralta, 2B Jean Segura, OF Socrates Brito and C Welington Castillo are not in the lineup on Sunday, April 17, against San Diego Padres SP Robbie Erlin. 2B/OF Rickie Weeks will start in left and bat second, INF Phil Gosselin will play first base and hit third, INF/OF Brandon Drury will move to second base and bat fifth, OF Chris Owings will man center and bat seventh while C Chris Herrmann will set up behind the plate and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: For some perspective on how much offensive firepower Arizona is resting on Sunday, Yasmany Tomas moves up from eighth in Saturday's lineup to fourth in today's order. In the wake of last night's 14-inning marathon, the most recommended plays could the pitchers (Erlin and Patrick Corbin), each of whom will face a lineup missing about a good chunk of its regular hitters.

Diamondbacks | Yasmany Tomas, Welington Castillo out

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 15:33:05 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas and C Welington Castillo are not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 14. 3B Brandon Drury is starting in left field and hitting fifth, while C Chris Herrmann is doing the catching and is batting seventh against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Ross Stripling.

Fantasy Tip: Both Drury and Herrmann are bottom of the barrel options for daily gamers against Stripling, who carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of his first start last week.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki out against Cleveland

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 13:02:03 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 28. C Chris Herrmann is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Suzuki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. He remains a low-end option in AL-only, cavernous mixed and two-catcher formats, but he should start the rest of the games with Minnesota chasing a playoff berth. Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief at FantasyScore Monday.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki taking day off

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 14:21:44 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 8. C Chris Herrmann is starting and is hitting eighth against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez.

Fantasy Tip: Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a very weak catching commodity in all fantasy formats. You shouldn't have him in your starting lineup tonight.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki resting

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 09:19:49 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 3. C Chris Herrmann draws the start behind the plate and is batting eighth against Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija.

Fantasy Tip: On a day with very few games for FantasyScore users, Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) still remains an unattractive option, unless you want to load up on studs for the rest of your roster. He's hitting only .165 (15-for-91) with two home runs and 10 RBI in a backup role in 2015.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki not playing

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 09:19:32 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers Sunday, Aug. 30. C Chris Herrmann will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .172 this season and should not be a starting option.

Twins | No Kurt Suzuki against Rays

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 13:58:04 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26. C Chris Herrmann is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is hitting .279 in August with 11 RBI over 19 games. It isn't huge production, but it pushes the needle in AL-only, cavernous mixed and two-catcher leagues. Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) owns a .530 OPS this season and draws Archer ($9,200, 18.4% of cap). The backstop is an ill-advised FantasyScore play Wednesday.
