St. Louis Rams CB Josh Gordy was working with the first team in organized team activities (OTAs) Wednesday, May 16. CB Bradley Fletcher (knee) is still recovering from injury, and rookie CB Janoris Jenkins is still acclimating. Those three will battle to start opposite CB Cortland Finnegan.

St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead said the extra picks the team collected in this year's NFL Draft made it easier for them to select troubled CB Janoris Jenkins. "Without all the extra picks, obviously, it would have been tougher to take a chance on Janoris," Snead said.

The St. Louis Rams debated whether to keep CB Janoris Jenkins on their draft board last week, but obviously decided he was worth taking. Head coach Jeff Fisher added he didn't love the comparisons being made to Cincinnati Bengals CB Adam Jones. "I'm not anticipating any issues whatsoever with Janoris," Fisher said. "OK? I'm not. 'Pac' checked out pretty good in all our background checks. He had one minor issue as a (college) freshman. His issues came after he got into the league. Janoris, again we're not concerned about him. He's a first-round talent."

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said Friday, April 27, that the team did thorough work before selecting CB Janoris Jenkins, who has had some off-field issues in the past. "Well, it started with the scouts' reports. We did Combine interviews, we had a top-30 visit, we had a member of our organization go down to Florida and spent several days down there, spent time in North Alabama," Fisher said. "We talked to many, many, many people that crossed paths with him since he was a young boy growing up in Pahokee, Fla. So we did our work and every person we talked to said, 'Take him.'"
