Falcons | Julio Jones will be at minicamp

Tue, 22 May 2018 12:10:07 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is expected to be present at minicamp after skipping organized team activities, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: OTAs are voluntary, after all, and it's not uncommon for important, veteran players to miss them. Jones remains one of the top three wide receivers in the NFL and should be drafted as such.

Falcons | Julio Jones misses workout

Mon, 21 May 2018 10:19:19 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones was not present for organized team activities Monday, May 21, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is looking for a better contract but has been in contact with head coach Dan Quinn, so he probably will participate in at least the mandatory June minicamp. Jones will be a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues in 2018 and likely will be selected in one of the first two rounds.

Falcons | Julio Jones wants contract update

Fri, 18 May 2018 19:22:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is not expected to participate in organized team activities in part because he wants the team to update his contract. Jones has been in regular contact with head coach Dan Quinn and the team is open to updating Jones' contract. Jones is scheduled to make $10.5 million in 2018.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Jones is on good terms with the team but could sit out the rest of offseason workouts. Jones is one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be a first- or second-round pick in all fantasy drafts in 2018.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is not expected to report for organized team activities next week, according to sources.

Falcons | Julio Jones not at workouts

Thu, 19 Apr 2018 10:48:30 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is not participating in the voluntary offseason program this week. Head coach Dan Quinn said he already knew Jones wouldn't be at the program.

Fantasy Tip: Not a big deal. Jones will be there when the activities are mandatory. He deserves to be one of the first few wide receivers taken in fantasy drafts despite notching just three touchdowns last season. That number will assuredly increase this year.

Falcons | Ankle to keep Julio Jones out of Pro Bowl

Tue, 16 Jan 2018 12:09:50 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will not participate in the 2018 Pro Bowl due to his nagging ankle injury. Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams will take Jones' place in the Pro Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is dealing with other issues, too, so it makes sense that the Falcons would want to rest him instead of aggravating something in a game that doesn't count for anything. As long as Jones is fully healthy, he should be one of the first few wide receivers selected in fantasy drafts next season.

Falcons | Julio Jones puts in limited practice

Thu, 11 Jan 2018 11:10:15 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Jan. 11, but is not on the injury report for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Jones will take the field on Saturday as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks to his ankle injury. Jones can succeed against any cornerback and any defense, so don't let the Philadelphia Eagles elite defense cause you to completely rule out Jones.

Falcons | Julio Jones sits again

Wed, 10 Jan 2018 14:07:43 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Jones probably does not need a lot of practice time to prepare for the Divisional Round playoff game and should be ready to play. He likely will be a No. 1 fantasy receiver in all leagues this week.

Falcons | Julio Jones idle Tuesday

Tue, 09 Jan 2018 06:48:30 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will not practice Tuesday, Jan. 9, but head coach Dan Quinn said there was no injury setback after the Wild Card game.

Fantasy Tip: With Antonio Brown (calf) banged up, Jones could be the top receiver left in the playoffs. He had a 9-94-1 line in the Wild Card round and remains a WR1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sat, 06 Jan 2018 20:41:36 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught nine passes on 10 targets for 94 yards and a touchdown in a 26-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Jan. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Jones didn't have many big plays, but he still put his stamp on the game. He'll be an elite fantasy option as long as Atlanta remains alive in the playoffs.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited in practice again

Thu, 04 Jan 2018 15:13:16 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, ribs) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 4. However, the team declared he'll be all systems go for the team's playoff game Saturday, Jan. 6, versus the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Jones' status for the Wild Card round was never in doubt at all, and his limited practice time leading up to Saturday's affair was just standard protocol for the elite fifth-year wide-out. As always, Jones will be a desirable WR1 to have in DFS formats, even despite posting only three touchdowns on the season. Matt Ryan is statistically one of the best postseason quarterbacks ever and Jones should benefit from that.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited Wednesday

Wed, 03 Jan 2018 13:23:21 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, ribs) was limited in practice Wednesday, Jan 3.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has been a beast in his postseason career, but he faces a difficult test in Los Angeles Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson and a stout Rams pass defense. As for next year, Jones is a strong WR1 candidate despite managing just three touchdowns this season.

Falcons | Julio Jones shines bright in postseason

Wed, 03 Jan 2018 12:48:47 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is the only player in NFL history to achieve multiple playoff games with at least 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is a mismatch for whoever is covering him, but he'll have his hands full this weekend against Los Angeles Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson. Looking ahead, Jones comfortably remains in the WR1 conversation for 2018 despite scoring just three times this season.

Falcons | Julio Jones confirms readiness for WC round

Wed, 03 Jan 2018 11:00:34 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, ribs) told reporters he feels "great" on Wednesday, Jan. 3, and that he will "be ready to go" versus the Los Angeles Rams for the Wild-Card Game on Saturday, Jan. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has produced 12 catches for 229 yards in in the two full games he has played with both injuries, so it doesn't appear as if they will be a big deal this weekend either. He is expected to receive shadow treatment from Trumaine Johnson, but Jones is always a threat to make his opponent look bad if he is a big enough part of the game plan. He is a worthy DFS play this weekend.

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 28-of-45 passes for 317 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 17 game against the Carolina Panthers. RBs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman underwhelmed on the ground, as both players had 11 runs for 23 yards each. Freeman led the team in receiving, though, posting 85 yards and a touchdown on nine receptions. WR Julio Jones finished with five grabs for 80 yards on 11 targets, while WR Mohamed Sanu was also targeted 11 times, hauling in seven balls for 71 yards.

Fri, 29 Dec 2017 12:03:32 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, thumb) was limited in practice for a second straight day Friday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Jones followed the exact same schedule last week and proceeded to roll up 149 yards on seven catches against the New Orleans Saints. With the Falcons in a must-win spot in Week 17, Jones should be expected to play at a high level once again in a more favorable matchup.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 14:34:21 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, thumb) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Jones appears to be on track to play in Week 17 and should have a big role in the passing game since the team is fighting for a playoff spot. He should be a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues this week.

Falcons | Julio Jones good to go

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 11:42:01 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, thumb) said he will be good to go for Week 17 despite dealing with ankle and thumb injuries.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons will need Jones as they look to hold on to their playoff spot. Even in a relatively disappointing year for Jones, he still easily finished in WR1 territory. He remains a perennial WR1 going into the new year.

Falcons | No practice for Julio Jones

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 15:18:27 -0800

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, thumb) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Initial reports are that he go limited, but he didn't even do that. It's uncertain if he suffered a setback in Week 16, although it certainly didn't appear so. The team could simply be preserving him for the big game on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Falcons | Julio Jones to be limited Wednesday

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 11:20:28 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, thumb) will participate in practice in limited fashion Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Jones did not appear to suffer a setback in Week 16 when he gouged for the New Orleans Saints for 149 yards on seven catches, so the Falcons are likely just playing it conservatively with his practice reps. Expect Jones to be ready to go in Week 17 versus the Carolina Panthers, and owners should feel confident about him as a WR1 again this week.

Falcons | Julio Jones goes for 149 yards

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 18:27:05 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught seven passes on 11 targets for 149 yards in a 23-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: It has been feast or famine for Jones this year, but he still has one of the highest ceilings of any receiver. Deploy him as a WR1 in Week 17 against a Carolina Panthers defense that he put up 118 yards on earlier this year.

Falcons | Julio Jones 'good to go' for Week 16

Fri, 22 Dec 2017 09:27:46 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, thumb) will play as expected in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was locked up in Marshon Lattimore's shadow coverage for much of their Week 14 matchup and came away with five catches for 96 scoreless yards. The fact Matt Ryan has played particularly well this year coupled with the fact Jones is less than 100 percent and will draw the attention of one of the league's top corners doesn't make the star receiver overly appealing this week, but the upside is always going to be huge with the considerable talent he possesses. He's a fringe WR1 play this week.

Thu, 21 Dec 2017 15:05:07 -0800

Contrary to a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, thumb) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Jones should be ready to play in Week 16 despite the injuries. He continues to be one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be a starting option in all leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones out of practice

Thu, 21 Dec 2017 09:50:57 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will not practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Jones should be fine for the divisional matchup against the New Orleans Saints. He has a great matchup against a struggling Saints secondary that may be without Kenny Vaccaro (wrist, groin) this week. Jones hasn't been the stud he usually is, but he's still a solid WR1 this week.

Falcons | Julio Jones to sit out practice Wednesday

Wed, 20 Dec 2017 09:28:16 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 20, and will likely be limited throughout the week, according to head coach Dan Quinn. However, Quinn fully expects Jones to play in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Quinn also noted Jones hurt his ankle on the second play of Monday's game, which helps to explain his somewhat lackluster performance (three catches for 54 yards) against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although he has been disappointing for a production standpoint this season (76 catches for 1,215 yards) and especially in the touchdown department (three), the potential for his next big game is always there. He'll be on the WR1 borderline in Week 16 against Marshon Lattimore and the New Orleans Saints.

Falcons | Julio Jones held in check Monday night

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 21:18:43 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones finished with just three catches on eight targets for 54 yards in the team's Week 15 win Monday, Dec. 18, versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is typically as reliable as any WR1 there's been in recent memory but this outing during the fantasy playoffs can only be viewed as extremely disappointing, especially after he diced up Tampa Bay's defense for 253 yards and a pair of scores only three weeks ago. Clearly, the Bucs prepared for the elite receiver differently this time around, leading to his underwhelming stat line and frustrating countless fantasy owners in the process.

Falcons | Julio Jones owns Buccaneers

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 12:35:54 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones has averaged 123.6 yards in his career against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That's the highest averaged career yards per game for any player versus another team in NFL history. In Week 12, Jones racked up 253 yards and two touchdowns against Tampa Bay.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is primed for a great outing tonight. He destroys the Bucs no matter how good they are defensively, but they rank last this year against the wide receiver position. It will be a surprise if Jones doesn't turn in a WR1 performance.

Falcons | Julio Jones almost cracks 100

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 21:25:48 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught five passes for 98 yards against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, Dec. 7. He was targeted a team-high 11 times.

Fantasy Tip: After getting shut down by Minnesota, Jones rebounded with a solid night's work against the Saints. While Jones has only three 100-plus-yard games on the year, Thursday marked the third time he's finished in the 90s. He'll be a strong WR1 next week against the same Buccaneers squad he eviscerated for 253 yards and two scores back in Week 12.

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 14:00:00 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught two passes for 24 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was being covered by Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes, which can explain his disappointing performance. He should have a better outing against the New Orleans Saints next week and should be a starting option in all leagues.

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 12:33:04 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 1, but is not on the injury report for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Jones will see his usual workload but likely will be covered by Minnesota Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes for most of the game. He should still be a No. 1 receiver in all leagues, but owners may want to lower their expectations a bit because of the matchup.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited in practice again

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 16:05:07 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) was limited in practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: This is just standard protocol for one of the league's most talented players. Following his monstrous outburst this past weekend against the Buccaneers, owners should obviously continue to ride Jones as their WR1 and hope for the same significant results against a stout Vikings defense.

Falcons | Julio Jones one-of-a-kind with 250-yard gems

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 18:21:59 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones recorded 250 or more receiving yards in a game for the third time in his career with his performance in the team's Week 12 game Sunday, Nov. 26, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No other player in NFL history has ever done it more than once.

Fantasy Tip: As continually stressed, Jones was well overdue to post some monster numbers and touchdowns, and owners who stuck with him through the long haul were handsomely rewarded this past Sunday afternoon. Given his otherworldly talents, there's probably a lot more where that came from, so just keep firing up Jones as a WR1 with the utmost confidence.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited in practice

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 15:02:11 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was likely just taking it easy on his ankle, and there isn't much to worry about. He was the NFC Offensive Player of Week 12 with his giant 12-253-2 stat line, and very quietly he is now over 1,000 yards receiving for the season.

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 13:59:27 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught 12 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was having a solid season entering Week 12 but had a breakout performance against the Buccaneers. He is one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be a No. 1 receiver even though he will be facing a tough Minnesota Vikings defense.

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 15:33:20 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, knee) was limited in practice for the third consecutive day Friday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: This is just the team managing Jones' reps, as he's perfectly fine for Sunday's matchup with the Buccaneers. Considering Tampa Bay is surrendering more passing yards than all but one team this season, Jones may deliver one of his trademark big stat lines. He's overdue for some touchdowns as well, so hopefully Week 12 begins his resurgence in that department.

Falcons | Modest Monday evening for Julio Jones

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 21:01:10 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones recorded five catches on 10 targets for 71 yards in the team's Week 11 victory Monday, Nov. 20, against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Once again, Jones was held without a touchdown, and as a result, he shockingly remains stuck on one for the season. At the same time, he continues to get his usual massive number of looks, especially when compared to the rest of the offense, as no one else drew more than four targets for the game. It's been a frustrating time owning Jones but owners just need to show patience and keep trotting him out there. The touchdowns will come.
