Falcons | Atlanta, Julio Jones to talk next offseason

Thu, 19 Jul 2018 13:14:35 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones will not receive a new deal at this point, but the Falcons have told Jones that they will work on his contract situation next offseason, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Jones may skip some time during training camp but should be on the field for Week 1. He is one of the top receivers in the NFL and should be selected in one of the first two rounds of all fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones won't get new contract

Wed, 18 Jul 2018 22:30:40 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones was recently informed that the team had not budgeted to renegotiate Jones' contract in 2018 and have no plan to give him a raise for the upcoming season, according to The Athletic's Jeff Schultz. The Falcons did promise to renegotiate after the season, however, and hope that Jones will report to training camp on time.

Fantasy Tip: This is surely not what Jones wanted to hear, but the ball is now firmly in his court. Does he report, play out 2018 and hope the team keeps its word? Or does he sit out and try to leverage a Falcons team with championship aspirations to the negotiating table? We'll know more on July 26, which is when veterans are due to report. For the time being Jones has to be considered as a solid WR1 based on a lengthy history of top-level production.

Falcons | Julio Jones attends Matt Ryan's passing camp

Mon, 16 Jul 2018 23:33:01 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones attended QB Matt Ryan's annual offseason passing camp, per a Snapchat post by WR Calvin Ridley, who was also on hand. The other players that were in attendance included TEs Austin Hooper, Eric Saubert, WRs Justin Hardy, Mohamed Sanu, Marvin Hall, Russell Gage Jr. and Reggie Davis. Jones didn't attend the team's offseason program or mandatory minicamp and it's unknown if he'll be at training camp, which begins on Thursday, July 26.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is seeking a new contract but it doesn't look that will be an issue that potentially costs him games once the season begins in less than two months. Even though he shockingly managed only three touchdowns a year ago, Jones remains one of the true elite WR1s in the game and should be treated as such in all fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones expected for Matt Ryan's training

Wed, 20 Jun 2018 16:55:46 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is expected to be joining his teammates for QB Matt Ryan's annual passing camp that he will be holding in July. "There's probably about 12 (Falcons players) that are going to get together," Ryan said. "And (Jones) will certainly be a part of that."

Fantasy Tip: Jones skipped minicamp but it looks like he'll be part of this effort when Atlanta's offensive players get together. He's seeking an adjusted contract but it shouldn't prevent the star wide-out from being ready for Week 1 of the upcoming season. As usual, he'll be a WR1 entering the new campaign. Despite posting only three scores last year, Jones still put up 1,444 yards on 88 catches. The touchdowns figure to spike up.

Falcons | QB plans to work out with Julio Jones

Wed, 13 Jun 2018 18:08:32 -0700

Atlanta QB Matt Ryan said he plans to work out with the receivers before training camp and expects WR Julio Jones to participate in the workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has skipped most of the offseason workouts because of his contract situation but should report to training camp on time. Jones is one of the top receivers in the NFL and will be a No. 1 fantasy receiver in all leagues. Ryan also has a chance to be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

Falcons | No minicamp for Julio Jones

Mon, 11 Jun 2018 14:13:20 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones will not attend mandatory minicamp this week.

Fantasy Tip: Jones continues to wait for a new contract, but he has said that he wants to be a Falcon and loves the team he's on. It's hard to believe Jones would hold out too far into the offseason. He's too valuable to Atlanta and would lose too much money. Keep drafting him as a top three to five wide receiver.

Falcons | Julio Jones mending fences?

Sun, 27 May 2018 18:36:40 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones said there is "no bad blood" between he and the organization, and he has simply been working on his own instead of attending OTAs. "I'm not going nowhere, man," Jones said. "I love the team."

Fantasy Tip: Jones has topped 1,400 receiving yards in each of the last four seasons, and he is firmly entrenched as a high-end WR1. Don't expect any potential issues about his contract to change his production on the field.

Falcons | Julio Jones will be at minicamp

Tue, 22 May 2018 12:10:07 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is expected to be present at minicamp after skipping organized team activities, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: OTAs are voluntary, after all, and it's not uncommon for important, veteran players to miss them. Jones remains one of the top three wide receivers in the NFL and should be drafted as such.

Falcons | Julio Jones misses workout

Mon, 21 May 2018 10:19:19 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones was not present for organized team activities Monday, May 21, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is looking for a better contract but has been in contact with head coach Dan Quinn, so he probably will participate in at least the mandatory June minicamp. Jones will be a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues in 2018 and likely will be selected in one of the first two rounds.

Falcons | Julio Jones wants contract update

Fri, 18 May 2018 19:22:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is not expected to participate in organized team activities in part because he wants the team to update his contract. Jones has been in regular contact with head coach Dan Quinn and the team is open to updating Jones' contract. Jones is scheduled to make $10.5 million in 2018.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Jones is on good terms with the team but could sit out the rest of offseason workouts. Jones is one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be a first- or second-round pick in all fantasy drafts in 2018.
