Falcons | Roddy White talks Julio Jones' contract

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 12:07:34 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is expected to be the next big-name wide receiver to receive a multi-year extension. His fellow teammate and wide receiver, WR Roddy White, believes the Falcons should sign Jones right now. White said the longer they wait to sign Jones, the more it will cost them.

Fantasy Tip: When healthy, Jones is an elite real-life and fantasy receiver. He'll be receiving a big contract; it's just a matter of how much and for how long that contract will be. Jones should be considered a top-five fantasy receiver in 2015 and should be selected in the late-first or early-second round.

Falcons | Julio Jones, ATL to begin talks soon?

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 15:53:52 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones and the Falcons could begin discussions on a long-term deal in the near future now that Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant and Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas have agreed to long-term extensions. As reported earlier, Jones could receive a new deal before training camp begins Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is right up there with the likes of Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas, so one would think that his extension would be in the same range between $14 million and $16 million a year. Jones is another receiver that should be taken late in the first round or early in the second round of fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones could sign before camp

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 14:01:22 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones could sign a contract extension before the start of training camp, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. Jones and the Falcons have not had discussions regarding the extension, however. Atlanta's training camp begins Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Again, Jones has already said he won't hold out if he's not signed to a long-term contract this season. He's in the final year of his contract and healthy, so he's good to go. He's worth a late first-round pick or early second-round pick.

Falcons | No extension talks for Julio Jones

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 13:50:25 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones and the Falcons have not had talks regarding a contract extension, according to a source. Atlanta exercised the fifth-year option on Jones' original deal, so he will be in the final year of his contract. Jones has already said he will not hold out and the Falcons have expressed their interested in signing him to a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: When Jones is healthy, he's one of the top wide receivers in the NFL and in fantasy football. Jones won't be holding out, so there's nothing to worry about with Jones until next offseason. He should be taken in the first two rounds.

Falcons | Julio Jones aiming higher for 2015

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 18:19:43 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is aiming to improve on his 2014 season, during which he set a franchise record with 1,593 receiving yards. "I don't feel like I did my best last year. I'm bigger, faster, stronger than I ever was, to this point now. Shouts out to the trainers. They helped me out. But I definitely can improve on everything," said Jones.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is still awaiting a contract extension, but it seems like a near certainty to get done before the start of the season. If Jones can improve on last season's numbers and play all 16 games in 2015, hell be likely to finish as a top-three receiver, which would be a bargain as he's generally considered just outside of the top five at his position.

Falcons | Julio Jones attending OTAs

Tue, 26 May 2015 16:16:02 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones was present for the start of organized team activities Tuesday, May 26, according to a source. Jones has one year remaining on his current contract but there have been no talks yet between the team and Jones regarding a new deal.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't sound like a holdout is in Jones' plans this offseason. As long as he avoids injury, he's worth an early-round draft pick and is comfortably in top-ten wide receiver territory.

NFL | Potential 2016 free-agent WR class stout

Wed, 20 May 2015 09:28:45 -0700

The upcoming group of potential free-agent wide receivers includes four of the positions most dominant players, including Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green and Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, according to Spotrac.com. All four players are engaging in contract discussions on some level with their current teams.

Fantasy Tip: While it looks impressive on paper, the reality of any of these guys hitting the open market seems extremely low, let alone the idea of all four of them at the same time. Nevertheless, each one has something extra to play for in 2015, which only helps their fantasy value, all things being equal. Each player makes for a fine WR1 to build a fantasy team around.

Falcons | No talks between Julio Jones, ATL

Mon, 04 May 2015 10:22:29 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones has not had any contract extension talks with the team at this time, but general manager Thomas Dimitroff said extending Jones is one of the team's priorities.

Fantasy Tip: The team has plenty of time to work on an extension with Jones. Jones finished in the top five in receptions (104) and receiving yards (1,593) this past season and should be one of the first receivers drafted in fantasy leagues next season.
