Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Da'Quan Bowers has only recorded 4.5 sacks since he debuted in 2011. Head coach Greg Schiano said that he's banking on Bowers becoming an every-down option instead of a situational pass rusher. Bowers thinks that the way Schiano has drawn up the ways to use DT Gerald McCoy could draw significant attention, freeing up Bowers for more and better attempts at bringing down the opposing quarterback. The arrival of CB Darrelle Revis and FS Dashon Goldson should aid their coverage, which would translate to more time for Bowers to get into the backfield.
Fantasy Tip: Bowers could find sleeper IDP value in leagues with favorable scoring of sacks. He's a depth piece for now. As for this squad, they fall just a bit short of every-week DT utility, but with their revamped secondary could change that quickly.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DL Da'Quan Bowers apologized for an off-the-field issue that resulted in his arrest, before charges were reduced. "There is no right way to make a mistake," Bowers said. "I just apologize to the fans and the organization that I put in that (position). I apologize to my family. … That's not what I'm about. That's not the type of person that I am. I appreciate (general manager) Mark (Dominik) and the Glazers and Coach (Greg) Schiano for being with me through this whole situation."

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DL Da'Quan Bowers knows he can do more on the football field, something he hopes to show in 2013. "It's not only injuries, but (my) play. I haven't been the dominant player that I know I can be," Bowers said. "I have a lot of potential to be one of the best and the elite at what (I) do, and I haven't shown that at this level yet. (It was) injuries and not understanding what was going on. It takes time to mature at this level. I think my maturation process is going on now and a lot of it has already passed. So, I'm just looking for an opportunity now."

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Da'Quan Bowers, who was arrested after a loaded .40-caliber gun was discovered in his bag at LaGuardia Airport in New York on Monday morning, will be charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon on the second degree. That is the same thing WR Plaxico Burress was charged with, and the minimum sentence to that charge is three and a half years in prison.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Da'Quan Bowers was arrested in New York Monday, Feb. 18, for illegally carrying a handgun. He allegedly had a loaded gun in his carry-on bag.
