Bengals | A.J. Green could miss early-season game

Thu, 25 Aug 2016 16:29:49 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said there is "no way" he is missing the birth of his first child, and he would miss a regular season game if it comes to that. His first child is due in about a month.

Fantasy Tip: That's a perfectly understandable reason to sit out a game, and at least he's giving his owners fair warning a month in advance. That projects to about Week 3, so owners who still have to draft should take that into account, as well as Cincinnati's bye week in Week 9. Nonetheless, Green is still a valid WR1 option and should continue to be treated as such.

Bengals | A.J. Green feeling loose

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 11:56:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said his mind is at ease entering the 2016 season. "I don't have to worry about contracts or anything like that," Green said. "I just go in there free, [with a] clear head, just go out there, work and have fun."

Fantasy Tip: How Green's mindset translates on the field remains to be seen, but an eased mind doesn't hurt. He's by far the Bengals' top receiving option, which means he'll probably still see plenty of double teams. He may have to work a little harder, but he should still be viewed as a late first-round pick or early-second round pick.

Bengals | Depth at receiver for Bengals

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 11:37:24 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WRs Mario Alford, Jake Kumerow and Brandon Tate were named by director of player personnel Duke Tobin as receivers who can contribute behind WRs A.J. Green, Brandon LaFell and Tyler Boyd.

Fantasy Tip: Tate might be the better bet of the three to have fantasy value with his experience and return ability, but none of them should be regarded as vital additions to fantasy rosters.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell picking up offense

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 19:01:18 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell has picked up the offense quickly, QB Andy Dalton said, and LaFell said he is ready to take advantage if defenses double team WR A.J. Green.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has a chance to open the year as Cincinnati's No. 2 receiver, and he is worth grabbing in the later rounds of drafts in case he runs with the role.

Bengals | A.J. Green helping Tyler Boyd

Sun, 29 May 2016 20:11:46 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd said watching WR A.J. Green demonstrate techniques makes them easier to learn than just having someone tell him how to do them.

Fantasy Tip: Boyd is going to be given a chance to have a big role in Cincinnati's offense, and he is a great option to target in the later rounds of drafts.

Bengals | A.J. Green ready to carry offense

Fri, 27 May 2016 20:35:39 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he knows that the offense is only going to go as far as he and QB Andy Dalton can take it in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Green has been one of the steadiest receivers since breaking into the league, and losing Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency should lead to even more looks for Green. He is a sure-fire WR1.

Bengals | A.J. Green has dominated Pittsburgh

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 19:35:45 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green faces the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild-card round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 9, and he combined for 17 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns in two meetings with the Steelers during the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) has torched the Steelers porous secondary twice already, and he has shown solid chemistry with AJ McCarron ($5,800, 11.6% of cap). Teaming Green and McCarron at FantasyScore could pay dividends.

Bengals | A.J. Green finds the end zone

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 16:39:10 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green caught four passes for 34 yards and a touchdown in a 24-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Green's yardage totals have been modest since AJ McCarron took over for Andy Dalton, but he has caught three scores from McCarron in the last four games. Green still deserves plenty of consideration at FantasyScore heading into the postseason.

Bengals | A.J. Green finds end zone

Mon, 28 Dec 2015 22:17:56 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green caught five passes for 57 yards and one touchdown in the Week 16 game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Green has seen his receiving yards dip a bit over the last two weeks but still has five touchdowns in his last five games. Green will have a favorable matchup against the Baltimore Ravens and could be a solid starting option in most leagues.

Bengals | A.J. Green has bruised back

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 09:32:42 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (back) has a bruised back, but he's expected to play Monday, Dec. 28, against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) loses some value with Andy Dalton (thumb) out, but he's still a worthwhile WR1 consideration on FantasyScore.

Bengals | One catch for A.J. Green

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 19:32:26 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (back) finished with one catch for 37 yards in a 24-14 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Green was dealing with a back issue during the game, so the injury could be to blame for the poor performance. Even if he is 100% next week, he is a risky play against the Denver Broncos stingy secondary, especially with A.J. McCarron set to make just his second start at quarterback.

Bengals | A.J. Green probable

Sat, 19 Dec 2015 12:24:21 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (back) is listed as probable for Week 15 after being added to the injury report Saturday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Tip: New injuries are usually a concern this late in the week, but Green is still listed as probable, so he may have just tweaked his back today. Green ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) will have AJ McCarron throwing to him tomorrow instead of Andy Dalton, though, so invest in Green at your own risk.

Bengals | A.J. Green big in loss

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 16:21:25 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green finished with six catches on nine targets for 132 yards and a touchdown in a 33-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Green actually did most of his damage after A.J. McCarron replaced an injured Andy Dalton, catching five passes for 115 yards, including a 66-yard score. McCarron will be starting again in Week 15 against San Francisco, but Green should still be able to produce.

Bengals | A.J. Green over 100 yards again

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 14:51:07 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green caught five passes for 128 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown, as the Bengals downed the Cleveland Browns 37-3.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) has had a solid season right along with Dalton's rise to prominence once again. He's worth the price on FantasyScore as long as the Bengals are hot like this.

Bengals | A.J. Green scores two TDs

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 15:26:04 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green caught six passes for 61 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 31-7 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, Nov. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) remains Dalton's top receiving threat, so as long as he keeps catching passes he will remain a strong FantasyScore play in yardage and catch leagues. He only has four touchdowns, so Green has suffered in scoring leagues.

Bengals | A.J. Green facing tough test

Sat, 28 Nov 2015 18:05:59 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green faces the St. Louis Rams in Week 12, and the Rams have allowed one touchdown and the second-fewest yards to No. 1 wide receivers this year.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) has been steady this year, but his big games have been few and far between. Don't expect a breakout performance against the Rams.

Bengals | A.J. Green held out of end zone

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 22:22:52 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green posted four receptions for 79 yards in the Week 11 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was targeted a team-high 12 times.

Fantasy Tip: Green nearly hauled in a touchdown in the corner of the end zone in the final minute of regulation, but his foot was just out of bounds and it was the correct call. Despite the fact it has been three weeks since Green last found the end zone, he remains a must-start fantasy option in most formats. He has four or more catches in eight straight games.

Bengals | A.J. Green has fairly quiet night

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 21:38:26 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green hauled in five receptions for 67 yards in the Week 10 game against the Houston Texans Monday, Nov. 16. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Green struggled to find open spaces, but considering how awful the Cincinnati offense performed it wasn't that bad of a stat line for Green. However, he has another tough matchup in Week 11 on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.

Bengals | A.J. Green carries offense

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 09:35:51 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green carried the offense in the Week 8 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching 11 balls for 118 yards and the game-winning touchdown. It was the fourth straight time that Green had at least eight catches against the Steelers. He is on pace to set career highs in catches (105) and receiving yards (1,483).

Fantasy Tip: With Andy Dalton having a breakout year, too, Green is a fine daily option on FantasyScore each and every week.

Bengals | A.J. Green could set record

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 17:15:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green needs 98 catches this season to achieve the most receptions ever by an NFL player in his first five seasons. Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald holds the current record of 426 catches. Green entered the 2015 season with 329 catches.

Fantasy Tip: Green has 35 catches through six games, so he'll need to pick up the pace a little bit in order to attain the record. He's still been one of the top fantasy wide receivers this season, and is looked at consistently by Andy Dalton. Green ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) has a tasty matchup this week against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has allowed the seventh-most receiving yards to wide receivers this year.

Bengals | Opponents trying to stop A.J. Green

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 09:44:10 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green was targeted seven times in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills, which was second on the team to WR Marvin Jones' 14 targets and nine catches. The Bills put different cornerbacks on Green throughout the game and rolled safeties in his direction in order to shut him down. Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson noticed that opposing defenses are trying to prevent Green from getting the ball after he went off for 10 catches, 227 yards and two touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if Cincy's opponents will continue to take a similar approach on Green ($7,800, 15.6% of cap), but as long as the Bengals offense keeps rolling, he's a strong play in any format. Marvin Jones ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) should continue to be an excellent value pick in daily games, too, especially if Green remains the focal point for opposing defenses.

Bengals | Another monster game for A.J. Green?

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 21:25:35 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green helped plenty of fantasy owners to wins in Week 3, and he faces another favorable matchup in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs. In fact, the Chiefs have allowed an NFL-high nine receiving touchdowns by opposing wide receivers through just three games, although that number is slightly skewed by the fact they faced Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers in Week 3. Still, opposing wideouts have a league-high 57 catches against the Chiefs through three games, and 750 yards which ranks 31st in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) has a giant price tag after last week's stellar performance, but he might be worth the money this week in FantasyScore, too. He should post triple digits in yardage with at least one touchdown in trends hold up and the Chiefs continue to struggle against the wideout.

Bengals | A.J. Green has monster performance

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 09:03:27 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green had 10 catches for 227 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens, becoming only the second player in history with 10-plus catches for 225-plus yards receiving and two-plus touchdowns. Green has 27 catches for 563 yards, four touchdowns and three 100-yard games against the Baltimore Ravens in his last four games against them.

Fantasy Tip: Green's monster performance likely single-handedly vaulted his owners to a victory this weekend. With Andy Dalton clicking on all cylinders to begin the year, Green is a must-start everywhere.

Bengals | A.J. Green should play

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 12:19:39 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 25, and is listed as probable for the Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) has been a little quiet at the start of the season with 108 yards and one touchdown in two games, but he is still one of the best receivers in the NFL. Owners should consider using Green in their lineups no matter the matchup.

Bengals | A.J. Green returns to practice

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 08:43:36 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (knee) returned to practice Thursday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) went off for 6-131-1 in his only game against the Baltimore Ravens last season. In 2013, he had a 12-212-2 line against them in two games. He's a high-end WR1 on FantasyScore this week.

Bengals | A.J. Green sits out Wednesday

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 13:27:07 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 23, but the injury is not expected to sideline him for the Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Green ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) is receiving some time off in order to allow his knee to heal, but owners may want to monitor the situation to make sure he will be able to play. Green is one of the better receivers in fantasy football and should be a weekly starting option.

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 07:17:54 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green is talking with the Bengals about a possible contract extension, according to sources. The team sees signing Green to an extension as their top priority.

Fantasy Tip: Green has been one of the better receivers over the past several seasons and will not hold out this year if he does not have a new contract. Green should be selected in one of the first few rounds of drafts this season.

Bengals | A.J. Green thanks Demaryius Thomas

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 18:36:06 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said during a press conference Friday, July 17, that Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green contacted him shortly after Thomas signed his new deal to thank him.

Fantasy Tip: Green has already said he plans to play out the final year of his deal without worrying about an extension, but Green clearly knows that Thomas' new deal has set a starting point for his next contract. Expect Green to be a top five receiver this year as he tries to drive up his value as much as possible before heading to the negotiation table.

Bengals | A.J. Green will play without deal

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 13:18:51 -0700

Updating a previous post, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green has decided to play the 2015 season without a new contract.

Fantasy Tip: This comes as no surprise. Green had mentioned previously he didn't want to make his contract an issue, so he has elected to avoid talking about it. He will still be a No. 1 WR threat in a lot of fantasy leagues.

Bengals | A.J. Green not concerned about contract

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 09:20:46 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he is not worried that he is entering the final year of his contract and is willing to play out the season. "I don't get into all the 'I need a contract' stuff,'" Green said. "I'm not here for money. I'm not broke. So I'm fine. I can wait until the end of the year to get a contract, but I know that time is coming."

Fantasy Tip: Green will not allow his contract situation affect his play this season, and he should continue to be one of the top receivers in the league and in fantasy leagues. Green likely will be selected in one of the first few rounds of drafts and could be a No. 1 WR for owners.

Bengals | A.J. Green wants extension, not in rush

Mon, 25 May 2015 19:32:26 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green would like to sign a contract extension with the Bengals and the team would like to sign him to an extension. Green currently has a fifth-year option worth $10.2 million, which would make him the largest cap hit on this season's team. With next season's strong class of free-agent wide receivers, whichever one signs first, is likely to be surpassed by the rest.

Fantasy Tip: Green will enter 2015 as a top-10 wide receiver who should benefit from the contract year. Despite Andy Dalton's flaws at quarterback, Green excels as the focal point of the Bengals' offense. That said, Green will likely benefit from signing with another team, if it comes to that.

NFL | Potential 2016 free-agent WR class stout

Wed, 20 May 2015 09:28:45 -0700

The upcoming group of potential free-agent wide receivers includes four of the positions most dominant players, including Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green and Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, according to Spotrac.com. All four players are engaging in contract discussions on some level with their current teams.

Fantasy Tip: While it looks impressive on paper, the reality of any of these guys hitting the open market seems extremely low, let alone the idea of all four of them at the same time. Nevertheless, each one has something extra to play for in 2015, which only helps their fantasy value, all things being equal. Each player makes for a fine WR1 to build a fantasy team around.

Bengals | A.J. Green not worried about contract

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 13:34:07 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he's not in a hurry to get a new deal done, even though he's in the final year of his current contract. "I'll just focus on football, and everything else will take care of itself."

Fantasy Tip: Green is one of the top receivers both in the NFL and in fantasy football when he's healthy. He should be in top-five fantasy wide receiver contention again this year, although erratic play from Andy Dalton could stunt his full potential.

Bengals | A.J. Green listed as doubtful

Fri, 02 Jan 2015 10:50:38 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (concussion) is listed as doubtful for the team's Wild Card game against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, Jan. 4, after he sat out of practice Friday, Jan. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($7,800; 15.6% of cap) is an extremely risky FantasyScore selection this weekend, especially with the Bengals playing Sunday. Avoid him. If he sits out, expect Giovani Bernard ($5,800) to be used more in the passing game out of the backfield. He's a sneaky daily play. Mohamed Sanu ($3,400; 6.8% of cap) will see more targets, but he's probably nothing more than a sleeper flex play at FantasyScore.

Green is scheduled to meet with a neurologist Friday, Jan. 2, and hopes to receive clearance to play.

Bengals | A.J. Green has bruised biceps

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 09:00:20 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (biceps) said he's dealing with a bruised right biceps, but he expects to play in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. X-rays on his arm during the game Monday, Dec. 22, came back negative. "If I can go, I'm going. No matter what it is," Green said. "We're playing for something big. We're playing for home-field advantage."

Fantasy Tip: Green looked to be in significant pain while gutting through the game Monday night. If he's on the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the finale, it'll be hard not to look his way at FantasyScore for $5,555. The Steelers have been a great matchup for wide receivers this year, especially in recent weeks.
