Bengals | A.J. Green to miss practice

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 09:13:06 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) will sit out practice Wednesday, Sept. 17, but will try to practice Thursday, Sept. 18. He said he hopes to be able to play Week 3. He said his injury is like turf toe but not as bad. He is not worried about the injury lingering.

Fantasy Tip: Green will try to get ready for the game this week, but the team could consider holding him out since they have a Week 4 bye, which would give him two weeks of rest. Owners will need to monitor his practice participation this week. Green costs $7,900 on FantasyScore and is a risk since his status for Week 3 is uncertain at this point.

Bengals | A.J. Green's injury minor

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 13:21:44 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (foot) underwent an MRI on his injury, which came back negative. If he is not able to play Week 3, he should be ready after the team's Week 4 bye.

Fantasy Tip: This is good news for Green and his owners. Owners should monitor his practice participation during the week to see if he is able to play Week 3. Green may not be the best option on FantasyScore this upcoming week because of his uncertain status.

Bengals | A.J. Green has foot strain

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 07:56:10 -0700

Updating earlier reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (foot) has a strained ligament in his foot, as opposed to the original diagnosis of turf toe. It's unclear whether it's an aggravation of the injury that caused him to miss practice Thursday, Sept. 11, or if it's a new injury.

Fantasy Tip: Green's status for Week 3 is unclear. As previously stated, Mohamed Sanu's value rises to a good WR3 option for the upcoming week, even if Green plays.

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 07:01:33 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) said his toe is not broken, and he hopes to play in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: The team has a bye in Week 4, so the team could play it safe and hold him out next week. Keep tabs on his status throughout the week.

Bengals | A.J. Green could miss time

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 06:57:25 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) doesn't have a significant injury and would likely return for Week 5 after the bye week if he's unable to play in Week 3. The injury was related to the injury that forced him to miss practice Thursday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Mohamed Sanu's value is on the rise with the question mark on Green. He caught three balls for 84 yards and a touchdown in Week 2. He would make a decent flex option in Week 3, depending on his price on FantasyScore.

Bengals | A.J. Green has turf toe

Sun, 14 Sep 2014 14:10:32 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) suffered a turf toe injury in the Week 2 game against the Atlanta Falcons, a league source said Sunday, Sept. 14. He left early and was unable to return. It is uncertain how much time he will miss.

Fantasy Tip: If Green is sidelined for any significant amount of time, Andy Dalton's fantasy appeal takes a hit. Mohamed Sanu, Brandon Tate and Marvin Jones, when he himself returns from injury, will likely see more targets if Green is forced to miss any length of time. Jermaine Gresham also figures to pick up targets, and Giovani Bernard might even be depended upon more out of the backfield.

Bengals | A.J. Green won't be limited

Sun, 14 Sep 2014 07:53:27 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (foot) won't be restricted to a "pitch count" in Week 2 Sunday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Green will cost $7,300 (14.6% of your cap) on FantasyScore this week. He's the third-most expensive receiver this week but has a decent matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Start him if you can fit him in the budget.

Bengals | A.J. Green will play

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 10:43:45 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (foot) was back at practice Friday, Sept. 12, after being held out as a precaution Thursday, Sept. 11. Head coach Marvin Lewis said Green will play in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: Green will command plenty of attention from the Falcons secondary, and he's expensive at FantasyScore ($7,300; 14.6% of cap), making it tough to score a profit. With Tyler Eifert out, Mohamed Sanu may be a sleeper in this offense in Week 2, especially if he's left in single coverage often.

Bengals | A.J. Green not on field

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 10:23:38 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (foot) is not taking part in practice Thursday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Green probably does not need a lot of practice time to get ready, but owners should see if he is able to practice Friday, Sept. 12, before deciding on their lineup. If he is active, he should be started most leagues.

Bengals | A.J. Green a limited participant

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 15:17:32 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Check back for more updates on Green. As of now, plan to have him in your lineup until further notice, but have a backup plan just in case. Against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, Green remains an elite play at FantasyScore even at top-dollar price ($7,300; 14.6% of cap), but that may change based on his status later this week.

Bengals | A.J. Green not worried about contract

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 11:03:16 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he is not worried about a contract extension, because the team picked up his 2015 option. "I think I'm on the backburner just because of the option. That's fine with me," Green said. "I don't even look at it like that. I just go out there and play and my time will come. It's not surprising. Teams always want to wait. I'm fine with my option and my $10 million. I'll take it."

Bengals | A.J. Green wants Andy Dalton to stay

Thu, 10 Jul 2014 11:55:21 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he wants QB Andy Dalton to remain with the team for years to come. "We came in together and that is the great thing for me and him," Green said. "I know he's my guy. I don't want any other quarterback throwing me the ball. I think he feels the same way about me." Green said he has built a good chemistry with Dalton over the last several seasons.

Bengals | OC has praise for Andy Dalton, A.J. Green

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 13:44:48 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton and WR A.J. Green are the best quarterback-receiver duo in the league, according to offensive coordinator Hue Jackson. "I think both of these guys are in the prime of their careers," Jackson said. "I wouldn't change the two guys I have for anybody at this point because these guys know how to do it together."

Fantasy Tip: Green is one of the best receivers in the game and is a no-doubt WR1. However, until Dalton shakes off his consistency issues, he remains nothing more than a midrange backup QB.

Bengals | Want ball-possession offense

Thu, 26 Jun 2014 05:32:43 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals beat writer Geoff Hobson believes Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson wants to have a more ball-possession offense that runs it more but sets up more explosive passes efficiently. That would mean fewer pass plays, but more potential big plays off of play-action.

Fantasy Tip: Giovani Bernard is going to have to prove that he can run the ball effectively 15-20 times in order for the play-action to work. Jeremy Hill will also be a factor in third-and-short situations that could free up A.J. Green and Marvin Jones downfield. Andy Dalton looks to be in optimal fantasy position this year in his contract year as a low-range QB1.

Bengals | Need more from the entire offense

Fri, 23 May 2014 11:43:37 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said the team needs more from the entire offense, including QB Andy Dalton and WR A.J. Green in 2014. "They've been good, now it's time to be great," Jackson said.

Fantasy Tip: Green is already one of the top wide receivers in football. If he can take it to another level, it would only help both his fantasy value and the value of Dalton. Still, it is reasonable to think there will be some growing pains as the team learns a new offense.

Bengals | Picking up the pace offensively

Thu, 22 May 2014 14:38:38 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson wants to implement an up-tempo offense and intends to be heavily committed to the running game to set up the pass. Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth said the team is planning to get as many snaps in as they can.

Fantasy Tip: A more conservative offensive approach will improve the value of Cincy's running backs, with Giovani Bernard standing to have the best fantasy season. BenJarvus Green-Ellis shouldn't be written off just yet, since rookie Jeremy Hill having a fantasy-worthy role isn't a lock. Andy Dalton should become more efficient, but that isn't necessarily a good thing for fantasy value. Ultimately, WR A.J. Green remains the only weapon with consistent appeal.

Lions | Ike Taylor looks to limit Calvin Johnson

Wed, 13 Nov 2013 20:44:05 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers CB Ike Taylor is likely to draw the task of trying to stop or limit WR Calvin Johnson in Week 11. He has played well against some of the league's premier receivers, and limited Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green to a season-low 41 yards in their matchup in Week 2. Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall was also limited to just 52 yards, his second-lowest yardage total of the year, in Week 3 while working against Taylor.

Fantasy Tip: Regardless of what Taylor has done in previous games against other receivers, you never, ever sit Johnson in fantasy leagues unless he is hurt or one a bye. Period.

Bengals | A.J. Green gets gift touchdown

Sun, 10 Nov 2013 14:22:05 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green finished the Week 10 game against the Baltimore Ravens with eight receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown. With no time remaining in regulation, Bengals QB Andy Dalton heaved up a desperation prayer that was answered by Green. Ravens SS James Ihedigbo inexplicably batted the ball up into the air and right to Green, who was standing alone in the back of the end zone for the 51-yard touchdown. It marked Green's fifth consecutive 100-yard game, a franchise record.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners everywhere need to send a thank you note to Ihedigbo, as if he did not touch the ball or simply bats it down, the game ends and fantasy owners get far fewer points.

Bengals | Andrew Hawkins could become third option

Thu, 31 Oct 2013 08:50:36 -0700

Green and Marvin Jones in the team's Week 9 game Thursday, Oct. 31, against the Miami Dolphins with WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) questionable for the game. Hawkins was third on the team last year in receptions (51) and receiving yards (533).

Fantasy Tip: Hawkins is a player to keep an eye on in deep point-per-reception universes. The Bengals may bring him along slowly, but they'll surely utilize him when he's ready.

Bengals | Antonio Cromartie to cover A.J. Green

Fri, 25 Oct 2013 09:30:25 -0700

New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie will likely have the task of covering Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green in Week 8. "Put his hands on him and pray," said Jets defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman. Green has 619 yards, 43 catches and five touchdowns through seven weeks. Last week against the New England Patriots, Cromartie allowed only one catch for 25 yards, but that came after three weeks where opposing quarterbacks had a rating over 100 against him.

Bengals | A.J. Green facing off against top corner

Fri, 27 Sep 2013 10:07:16 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green will face off against Cleveland Browns CB Joe Haden this weekend, and Haden is welcoming the challenge. "I'm not just gonna run along with him and try to let him jump over me. It's gonna be a really, good, intense matchup. It's not a scared thing at all. It's gonna be a battle. You gotta know sometimes they might get theirs, but you gotta be able to get yours a lot more." Green has hauled in 18 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 19.1 yards per catch in four career games against Cleveland.

Fantasy Tip: Haden is one of the better cover corners in the league, but he hasn't shut down Green before, giving up large gains in their matchups at times. Green, as always, is a must-start.
