Yankees | Adam Warren sticking in rotation

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 07:11:47 -0700

New York Yankees SP Adam Warren will remain in the starting rotation with SP Masahiro Tanaka (forearm) returning. SP Chris Capuano is headed to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Warren ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is a fringe starter worth considering in great matchups on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Masahiro Tanaka to be on pitch count

Fri, 29 May 2015 09:12:18 -0700

New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka (forearm, wrist) will be on a pitch count of between 80 to 90 pitches in his first start back from the disabled list, which is expected to come either Tuesday, June 2, or Wednesday, June 3, against the Seattle Mariners, according to manager Joe Girardi. Tanaka will also be given an extra day in between starts as much as possible. The likeliest candidate to be demoted from the rotation to make room for Tanaka is SP Adam Warren or SP Chris Capuano, who is 0-2 with a 7.36 ERA in two starts since coming off his own DL stint.

Fantasy Tip: Tanaka ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) should still be owned in all fantasy formats, but he's a much more risky commodity than he was in 2014, and each of his starts for the rest of the season should be viewed as risk/reward on FantasyScore. Avoiding him next week against the M's in his first start back would be prudent.

Yankees | Adam Warren likely for Saturday

Sat, 11 Apr 2015 04:44:48 -0700

New York Yankees SP Adam Warren will take the mound Saturday, April 11, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Warren ($3,000, 6% of cap) could see a different looking Red Sox lineup, as some regulars might get a rest following the 19-inning marathon Friday night/Saturday morning. The Yankees have gotten off to a slow start but this may be one of those low-cost risks worth taking.

Yankees | Adam Warren wins rotation job

Wed, 01 Apr 2015 12:53:27 -0700

New York Yankees SP Adam Warren will be the fifth starter, according to manager Joe Girardi.

Fantasy Tip: Warren would likely make his first start against the Boston Red Sox, which doesn't project favorably for daily contests. He tips the scales in AL-only formats and the odd points league where relief-eligible starters hold additional value. Take a wait-and-see approach in the majority of leagues, though. He only has three starts in his career with a 6.97 ERA and 1.84 WHIP.

Yankees | NY may use six-man rotation

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 13:56:30 -0800

New York Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild indicated that the team may go with a six-man rotation to open the season to reduce early-season strain on arms. The Yankees have a stretch of 30 games in 31 days starting April 17. The team is already dealing with several injury questions in their starting five. Ps Bryan Mitchell, Esmil Rogers, Adam Warren and Chase Whitley are building up stamina this spring, and each of them could be used as either starters or relievers.

Fantasy Tip: None of the Yankees' options for the sixth rotation spot to begin the season are really worth consideration in standard fantasy baseball leagues, mainly because this scenario is likely to be short-lived. However, whoever is slated to be the sixth rotation arm to start the year may be worth a small investment as a late-round flier in AL-only leagues.

Yankees | Adam Warren likely staying put

Tue, 17 Jun 2014 18:12:38 -0700

New York Yankees RP Adam Warren is a potential prospect to join the depleted starting rotation, but manager Joe Girardi likes him in the bullpen for now. "Warren's been a vital part of our bullpen," Girardi said Tuesday, June 17. "He really stepped up when (RP Shawn Kelley) went down. He's a guy that can give you multiple inning down there, but as I said, we'll continue to evaluate our staff."

Yankees | CC Sabathia out until July

Mon, 19 May 2014 09:40:23 -0700

New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia (knee) will be out until at least July, according to general manager Brian Cashman. "It will be no sooner than six weeks from now," Cashman said in discussing a potential return date for Sabathia. Cashman said P Adam Warren is the next pitcher they would look to to fill a rotation spot if another need arises. Sabathia will stop using crutches and begin work in a pool Tuesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Early July is probably the best-case scenario for Sabathia's return. If we're being realistic, a return after the All-Star break probably makes more sense. Chase Whitley's stock in AL-only leagues has gone up tremendously.

Yankees | May look outside for pitching

Wed, 14 May 2014 00:29:49 -0700

The New York Yankees may go outside the organization to look for pitching help with three SPs (CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova and Michael Pineda) sitting on the shelf. General manager Brian Cashman has not ruled out moving RP Adam Warren to the rotation.
