Also, RP Chris Bootcheck was designated for assignment. Fantasy Tip: GM Brian Cashman hinted yesterday that this would happen. The good news is that there's no structural damage in Teixeira's right wrist. However, there's still the possibility that he'll need season-ending surgery. Monitor his progress and hold onto him for now. Lyle Overbay should see the majority of starts at first base again in Tex's absence, making him relevant in AL-only leagues once again.

They placed SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) on the 60-day DL, optioned SP Adam Warren to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and called up RP Chris Bootcheck and 1B Thomas Neal. Fantasy Tip: Expect Reid Brignac to play nearly every day until Youk and/or Derek Jeter (ankle) return. He might run into minimal deep-mixed value, but that's not a safe bet. Neither Neal nor Bootcheck deserves fantasy attention.
Fri, 17 May 2013 10:51:08 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (back) said his trapezius muscle wasn't tight and he wasn't hurting after the game Thursday, May 16, but he's unsure if he'll have to miss his next start Tuesday, May 21, against the Baltimore Orioles. A team doctor thinks Pettitte was just dealing with a spasm. Pettitte allowed four hits and struck out five Thursday. Pettitte is 4-3 with a 3.83 ERA in eight starts this season. The team could use SP Adam Warren in the rotation if Pettitte has to miss time. Warren is 1-0 with a 1.37 ERA over 19 2/3 innings this year, and he's currently working out of the bullpen. Fantasy Tip: Pettitte dealt with back spasms last month, too, although it isn't surprising for a pitcher who has has multiple injury issues over the past several seasons and who is turning 41 next month. Warren should only intrigue those in AL-only leagues if he receives a few starts.
