The Philadelphia Phillies purchased the contract of 2B Mike Fontenot from Triple-A Lehigh Valley Friday, May 11. The team moved 2B Michael Martinez (foot) from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.

Philadelphia Phillies INF Michael Martinez (foot) is off crutches and is taking part in minor weight-bearing activities. He will meet with doctors Monday, April 16, and could be cleared for full workouts. Martinez could return late this month or early May.

The Philadelphia Phillies placed 1B Ryan Howard (Achilles'), 2B Chase Utley (knees), RP Jose Contreras (elbow), INF Michael Martinez (foot) and RP Justin De Fratus (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, April 3. OF Scott Podsednik and INF Hector Luna were assigned to the minors, while INF Peter Orr had his contract selected.

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Placido Polanco (finger) left the game Saturday, March 17, in the third inning, after suffering an injury to his left fourth finger. The injury occured in the first inning, when he jammed his hand diving back to first base on a pickoff attempt, but he remained in the game after being examined for a few minutes by head athletic trainer Scott Sheridan. Polanco was replaced in the game by INF Michael Martinez (elbow), who was seeing his first game action since Tuesday, March 13, after having suffered a bruised right elbow.
