The Texas Rangers placed RP Mason Tobin (elbow) on the 60-day disabled list Wednesday, April 20, after he was diagnosed with inflammation in the ulnar ligament in his elbow, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The Texas Rangers have recalled C Taylor Teagarden from Triple-A Round Rock and have purchased the contract of SP Brett Tomko, according to The Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant. RP Mason Tobin (elbow) will be placed on the 15-day disabled list and RP Michael Kirkman will be sent to Round Rock.

Texas Rangers RP Mason Tobin (elbow) felt some tightness in his right elbow Tuesday, April 19, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, reports Richard Durrett, of ESPNDallas.com. Tobin has had three previous surgeries on that same elbow. He'll have an MRI Wednesday, April 20.

Texas Rangers RP Arthur Rhodes is unavailable out of the bullpen Monday, April 18, after tossing 34 pitches in 1 1/3 innings against the New York Yankees Sunday, April 17, according to ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins. Rhodes is expected to be available Tuesday, April 19. Manager Ron Washington is still trying to decide on the bullpen roles for RPs Darren Oliver, Darren O'Day, Pedro Strop and Mason Tobin.

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said he doesn't have one designated setup man to pitch the eighth inning and will mix and match with his veterans, according to ESPNDallas.com's Richard Durrett. RPs Darren Oliver, Arthur Rhodes and Darren O'Day are the candidates. Washington said he will use RP Mason Tobin in low-pressure situations to ease him in.

Texas Rangers RP Mason Tobin, a Rule 5 selection, has won a spot in the bullpen, reports Jeff Wilson, of The Dallas Morning News. Tobin posted a 1.86 ERA in 9 2/3 innings in Cactus League play. "He earned it," pitching coach Mike Maddux said Tuesday, March 29.
