Colts | Andrew Luck ruled out for Week 4

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 15:50:20 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 4, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is making progress and may practice this week but is still probably a few weeks away from playing in a game. Jacoby Brissett will receive another start but probably should be avoided in most fantasy leagues because he will be facing a tough Seattle Seahawks defense.

Colts | Andrew Luck could practice this week

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 13:57:19 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has a chance to practice this week if he is cleared by team doctors, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: Jacoby Brissett sure didn't look like a backup quarterback in Week 3, but Andrew Luck is preparing to take his starting job back anyway. By no means should Luck be started this week, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Colts | Week 6 return for Andrew Luck?

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 07:47:55 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) may be able to do some things during practice next week and is looking at Week 6 as a possible return.

Fantasy Tip: Luck likely will need several weeks of practice before he is ready to play in a game, so owners will need to monitor his situation over the next few weeks. Luck should be a starting option for fantasy owners during the second half of the season.

Colts | Andrew Luck still not ready to practice

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 10:16:08 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will not practice at all prior to the team's Week 3 game versus the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that Luck still doesn't appear all that close to returning to football activities suggests he won't be ready next week either, which makes it even more confusing why he wasn't put on the Physically Unable to Perform list prior to the season. Luck is still worth a hold at the moment, but it may become more difficult to do so as the bye weeks start affecting roster decisions. Jacoby Brissett will get another start but is not worth fantasy consideration in most leagues.

Colts | Andrew Luck won't play this week

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 13:36:51 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Jacoby Brissett will likely remain under center for the Colts. He's done nothing to write home about so far this year, but he has only played about a game and a half. Brissett is startable in two-quarterback leagues, but he can be avoided other than that.

Colts | Andrew Luck to miss a few more weeks

Mon, 11 Sep 2017 13:47:32 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will remain sidelined for several more weeks as he continues to nurse his surgically-repaired throwing shoulder, according to sources. His return to practice is expected to be sooner rather than later, however.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts have been somewhat secretive as to the full disclosure of Luck's health and timeline. We know they think he can be back before midseason or they would have put him on short-term Injured Reserve. As it stands, only T.Y. Hilton and Frank Gore garner weekly starter consideration as flex options.

Colts | Andrew Luck unable to practice

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 15:53:08 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) did not take part in practice on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has already been ruled out for the Week 1 game, so it's not much of a surprise that he was a spectator in practice. Scott Tolzien has already been tabbed as the starter against the Rams for the opener.

Colts | Andrew Luck out for Week 1

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 08:14:10 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will not play in Week 1, according to general manager Chris Ballard. He's on the active roster and will practice.

Fantasy Tip: It could be multiple weeks before he's able to play since he really didn't have a training camp. Scott Tolzien will start in his place, and he's a massive downgrade from Luck - obviously. T.Y. Hilton and the rest of the receivers will lose some luster, as expected, as long as Luck is out. Conversely, TE Jack Doyle could be a sneaky value with the backup quarterback in. RB Frank Gore could be utilized heavily early on, and he receives a slight boost. As for Tolzien, he's only of use in leagues that start two quarterbacks against the Los Angeles Rams.

Sat, 02 Sep 2017 13:12:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was removed from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, Sept. 2.

Fantasy Tip: This move is a formality so he doesn't remain on the list into the regular season. Luck is still unlikely to play in Week 1.

Colts | Andrew Luck likely to miss Week 1

Thu, 31 Aug 2017 19:58:10 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) probably will not play against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1 but has not been ruled out at this point, according to owner Jim Irsay. Irsay said the team will see where Luck is physically next week before making a decision.

Fantasy Tip: Luck will need to take part in some practices before he is ready to play in a game, so he could miss the first few weeks of the season. Luck is a No. 1 fantasy quarterback when he is healthy, but owners will need to have another solid quarterback on their roster to use until Luck returns.

Colts | Andrew Luck will come off PUP list

Thu, 31 Aug 2017 18:05:15 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) likely will be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list before the team decides on their final 53-man roster, according to general manager Chris Ballard. Luck is still considered a long shot to play in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Luck would miss the first six weeks of the season if he stayed on the PUP list, so he will now be able to practice as soon as possible. It appears like Luck will miss at least one regular season game, but owners could still consider him a No. 1 quarterback if he only misses two or three games.

Colts | Andrew Luck continues to rehab

Wed, 30 Aug 2017 17:24:22 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's (shoulder) rehab from his shoulder injury is going well, but owner Jim Irsay did not guarantee that Luck will play in Week 1 during a team luncheon Thursday, Aug. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check on Luck's practice participation next week to have a better understanding of his status for Week 1. Luck can still be a No. 1 fantasy option in leagues if he only misses a few games, but owners would need a strong backup to use in the first few weeks.

Colts | Andrew Luck running out of time

Mon, 28 Aug 2017 06:26:18 -0700

Colts | Odds against Andrew Luck starting Week 1

Thu, 24 Aug 2017 17:20:28 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is unlikely to play in the team's Week 1 opener against the Los Angeles Rams, as "the odds are against" him suiting up, according to Mike Wells of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Luck's shoulder concerns continue to linger and it looks like he's on track to miss the first game or two -- if not more. There's no doubt the former No. 1 overall draft pick is one of the best quarterbacks in the game when he is healthy, but his health could continue to be an issue even after he does return. Thus, owners might be better off seeking a safer option with their QB1.

Colts | Still no timeline for Andrew Luck

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 13:16:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) remains without a timetable for his return as of Tuesday, Aug. 22. It will be telling if Luck does not practice next week, in the opinion of The Indianapolis Star's Stephen Holder.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts are creeping close to crunch time and Luck has yet to practice. He's inching closer to the short-term IR list by the day. Luck is a QB1 as long as he avoids that list, but use extreme caution.

Colts | Andrew Luck not a lock for Week 1

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 17:33:18 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) might not be ready for the season opener, according to owner Jim Irsay, but Irsay said Luck will be ready around the start of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is one of the better fantasy quarterbacks when healthy, but there is a chance he could miss a game or two. He is still worth drafting as a QB1, especially if he slips a bit due to injury concerns, but make sure to have a dependable backup.

Colts | Andrew Luck building strength

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 13:14:57 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's (shoulder) surgically repaired shoulder is stronger now than it was at any point last season, according to general manager Chris Ballard.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is working his way back from the surgery and his status for the start of the regular season is in question but it seems like he is making progress. He is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL when he is healthy and will have a solid group of receivers to work with in 2017. He can be considered a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all leagues, but owners will need a strong backup in case Luck misses a few games.

Colts | Andrew Luck unlikely to open on PUP

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 08:43:00 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is unlikely to open the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to general manager Chris Ballard. His Week 1 availability is still to be determined. Luck has progressed in his throwing program the last two weeks rebuilding his motion and strength.

Fantasy Tip: The cloud of question over his Week 1 status speaks resoundingly. The team is being super cautious with him, and it makes sense. The more we hear from the team, the greater the possibility blooms that he won't be ready for the start of the season. He's a high-end QB1 in fantasy, but you have to start considering how much he's ahead of that next tier of two or three players.

Colts | Still no timetable for Andrew Luck

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 10:56:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) remains without a timeline to begin practicing, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: Ideally, Luck would have started throwing a football sometime in mid-to-late July. By all accounts, he has yet to do so. Even if he has and the team isn't reporting it, his lack of practice does not bode well for him to start the season out on fire. Luck remains in the QB1 conversation, but there are enough other good quarterbacks that owners should not feel bad about letting someone else assume the risk-reward associated with him in the sixth round or later.

Colts | Concern about Andrew Luck overblown?

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 18:09:09 -0700

Contradicting a previous report from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is expected to come off the Physically Unable to Perform list before the regular season begins, according to The Herald Bulletin's George Bremer.

Fantasy Tip: Bremer suggests general manager Chris Ballard's statement about Luck's injury status last week stands. There still have been no reports the quarterback has actually started throwing a football yet, so it's hard to get overly optimistic he will be ready Week 1. He will remain a dicey QB1 investment in early August drafts until he is actually cleared to practice.

Colts | Andrew Luck could start on PUP list

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 14:38:09 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) might begin the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list if the Colts deem him not healthy enough for real action, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. That move would sideline Luck for six games. Head coach Chuck Pagano reiterated there is no timetable for Luck's return and that he'll play when the doctors say he can play. "The last thing we want to do is rush him or any of our players back too soon and have a setback," Pagano said. "So we're going to be diligent in the process."

Fantasy Tip: Pagano is right; the Colts don't want to make matters worse by bringing their franchise quarterback back before he's ready. If Luck does start the season on the PUP list then veteran backup Scott Tolzien would likely start. Monitor this situation as the season nears.

Colts | Andrew Luck has continuity up front

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 10:32:53 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will have the luxury of having all five starters on the offensive line from the previous year return for the upcoming season for the first time in his career, according to NFL Network's Judy Battista.

Fantasy Tip: All Luck needs to do now is get his shoulder right, which is a concern. Assuming that happens early in the season, Luck should enjoy better protection than he has been afforded over the first five years of his career. Until he is cleared to throw a football, he needs to be considered a high-risk, high-reward QB1.

Colts | Andrew Luck unsure when he will be cleared

Sat, 29 Jul 2017 08:51:56 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) told the Indianapolis Star's Stephen Holder there is "no reason to freak out," but he remains on the preseason Physically Unable to Participate list and uncertain about being ready in time for the regular-season opener.

Fantasy Tip: Luck did confirm he was throwing a tennis ball but did not confirm whether or not he has thrown a football yet. Although the Colts continue to express no urgency regarding their quarterback, owners need to push him down their rankings and assume he will be limited in some way for at least the first month of the season until he can prove that won't be the case. Luck may end up becoming a mid-round value who becomes a steal, but he is very much a risky proposition at the moment.

Tue, 25 Jul 2017 06:56:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has begun the throwing part of his rehab, and he's expected to be ready for the start of the season. He remains a high-end option as a QB1.

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 10:08:05 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to general manager Chris Ballard. The team expects Luck to come off before the beginning of the season.

Fantasy Tip: The team has been pretty mum on his status, but they have said all along he's expected to be ready for the season. Even if he were to miss a game or two, he still remains a high-end QB1 in fantasy.

Colts | Andrew Luck's status still unclear

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 18:33:21 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has still not indicated if he has begun the throwing portion of his shoulder rehab, but Kevin Bowen of Colts.com believes the fact that no veteran quarterback was signed this offseason means Luck is on track to start in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the fact he is coming off shoulder surgery, Luck should still be viewed as a QB1 as long as the outlook remains positive. He could easily finish as a top-five option at his position.

Colts | T.Y. Hilton not sweating Andrew Luck

Sat, 08 Jul 2017 20:55:27 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton said he doesn't expect it to take long for he and QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) to find their rhythm. "For him, the main thing is to just get healthy and we'll pick up where we left off," Hilton said. "Two days back-to-back is all we need."

Fantasy Tip: Hilton tends to be overlooked a bit in fantasy circles, but he led the NFL in receiving yards last year and is the go-to target for one of the NFL's best quarterbacks. As long as Luck remains on track for the start of the season, you can feel confident snagging Hilton as a low-end WR1.

Colts | Andrew Luck still not throwing

Wed, 28 Jun 2017 09:04:03 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) told reporters Wednesday, June 28, despite the fact his rehab is going well, he still has yet to throw since his January shoulder surgery.

Fantasy Tip: While it is entirely possible the Colts are just playing it safe by giving their quarterback as much time as they can to get his shoulder right, Luck is running the risk of suffering an arm injury in camp if he tries to overdo it in an effort to catch up. There's still no hint of pessimism regarding his Week 1 status, but owners may want to knock him down a peg or two on their draft boards until he is cleared to throw.

Colts | Andrew Luck not looking ahead

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 16:03:13 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) doesn't know if he'll be ready for training camp. He remains focused on the present, focusing on each rehab session. "That's where my focus is and that's where I think it needs to be to truly get back to 100 percent," Luck said.

Fantasy Tip: Luck will be one of the bigger stories to keep an eye on as the offseason progresses. As long as he doesn't have any setbacks he should be ready for the start of the regular season at least. That being said, it's fine to draft him as a starting fantasy quarterback again this year.

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 09:26:45 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will be an observer in the minicamp this week, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is expected to be ready for the season, but he may be idle until at least training camp. He remains a high-end QB1 option in fantasy.

Colts | Andrew Luck healing well

Fri, 09 Jun 2017 05:24:26 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is healing well, and he's still expected to be ready for the season, according to owner Jim Irsay. "He was really struggling going through the process of being ready to play (each week last season)," Irsay said. "This was, quite frankly, not that complicated of a surgery. This was a simple labrum repair. There are a lot of other things that could have been involved with this surgery that weren't."

Fantasy Tip: Luck's health has been spotty the last couple of years due to an abomination of an offensive line allowing him to be hit more frequently. However, he still has some of the best pure talent at the position. He's still a high-end QB1 in fantasy.

Colts | Andrew Luck not throwing yet

Tue, 06 Jun 2017 15:35:27 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has not yet begun to throw the football again as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery. Luck has yet to participate in organized team activities, although he has worked with the other quarterbacks and helped receivers with routes and timing. Luck will also miss next week's minicamp as the Colts don't want to rush back their star quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: There is some cause for concern with Luck, but it is only early June. His surgery happened in January so that he would ideally recover in time for the regular season. As of now, continue to draft Luck as a QB1, but keep tabs on his status as the offseason progresses.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) said he first injured his shoulder during an early season game in 2015. Luck said he made the decision to undergo surgery and does not have a timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation because Luck likely will not do anything until training camp at the earliest. Luck is one of the better quarterbacks when he is healthy and can be a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues, but owners may want a strong backup in case Luck is not ready.

Colts | Andrew Luck may miss OTAs?

Tue, 28 Mar 2017 05:39:51 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) won't be rushed back, according to owner Jim Irsay, who was mum when asked if Luck would be ready for offseason workouts and organized team activities. "We are not going to be rushing him," Irsay said. "We are going to make sure, obviously, that the shoulder has to be ready and the doctors are going to give full approval before he starts putting real reps on it and that sort of thing. We really feel that he's going to be completely healed for the season and he's going to have a great season."

Fantasy Tip: Luck is a top three or four quarterback option in fantasy when healthy. The team is being cryptic as to what he actually had repaired in his shoulder, but there's no reason to believe he won't be ready for the season.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) does not have a timetable for his return, but indications are that he will be ready for the start of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Luck probably will not do much during the offseason and will have several months to recover from his shoulder surgery. Luck should be considered a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in 2017 as long as he is completely healthy.

Colts | No timetable for Andrew Luck

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 16:22:48 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will not be rushed back and there is no timetable for his return at this point, according to general manager Chris Ballard. Ballard said the team will follow the doctor's order in terms of Luck's recovery.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see when Luck will be back on the field. There is a chance that he does not participate in any offseason workouts and could wait until the start of training camp. Luck should be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues as long as he is healthy.
