Colts | Andrew Luck adapting to change

Mon, 18 Jun 2018 05:39:19 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) senses differences in how his shoulder reacts to new things this year. "The pain is gone, and it's going to stay that way," Luck said to reporters at minicamp. "My body doesn't revolt, in a sense, to new things I ask."

Fantasy Tip: Luck has the chance to be the best quarterback in fantasy, but until we see him in a team setting, he's still a risky high-end choice.

Colts | Andrew Luck on strict program for next six weeks

Sat, 16 Jun 2018 17:42:32 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is under a throwing regimen designed by head coach Frank Reich, a regimen designed to test how far Luck's shoulder has progressed. If Luck passes all the tests, the team anticipates no limitations when training camp opens.

Fantasy Tip: As Luck goes, so go the Colts. There's no reason to suspect Luck should be anything below a mid-to-low QB1 or a high QB2 if the shoulder is healthy.

Colts | Andrew Luck makes some progress

Wed, 13 Jun 2018 15:49:17 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) threw 15 to 20 passes during practice Wednesday, June 13, including a 20-yard pass to RB Jordan Wilkins. Luck was throwing an official NFL football during practice. He is not scheduled to participate in practice Thursday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Luck is making progress and should continue to throw passes leading up to training camp. The team expects Luck to be ready for the season, but owners will need to keep an eye on the situation. He is a No. 1 fantasy quarterback when healthy, but owners will need backup plans in case Luck is not ready.

Colts | Andrew Luck resumes throwing

Tue, 12 Jun 2018 10:38:33 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) threw a football for the first time since October of 2017 on Tuesday, June 12. Luck reportedly threw about 10 passes at Tuesday's mandatory minicamp, none for more than 10 yards. The Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer reports he'll ramp up his regimen over the next six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts have endured their fair share of ridicule for their handling of Luck since last year's fiasco, but the important thing is that his shoulder is sound, so it shouldn't matter whether he began throwing in March or June. Fantasy owners will obviously need to keep a close eye on reports regarding Luck ramping up his regimen over the next few weeks, but the fact he is throwing now is light years ahead of where he was last year at the same time. He's a risk-reward QB1 if he is ready for training camp.

Colts | Andrew Luck close to throwing

Thu, 07 Jun 2018 11:42:05 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is "real close" to finally throwing a football again, according to head coach Frank Reich. Luck will essentially decide when he does start throwing.

Fantasy Tip: At this point it's a "believe it when we see it" situation. Luck hasn't thrown in about a year and a half, so it will take some time for him to get back to full speed and to feel comfortable in a real-game scenario. For now, view Luck as a low-end QB1 to high-end QB2.

Colts | Andrew Luck may not throw for a while

Wed, 23 May 2018 19:05:05 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) did not throw during organized team activities Wednesday, May 23, and head coach Frank Reich said he is not sure if Luck will throw before the end of June minicamp but is confident that Luck will ramp things up in time for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will continue to monitor the situation to see when Luck will be able to throw again. He is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL when he is healthy but will be a risky option for fantasy owners in 2018. Owners that select him will need very good backup options on their roster.

Sat, 28 Apr 2018 14:47:52 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck was a trade target for a few teams, but the Colts did not consider any trade offers, according to owner Jim Irsay.

Fantasy Tip: Luck missed the entire 2017 season but appears to be on track for the 2018 season. Owners will need to monitor the situation during offseason workouts and training camp to see if he suffers any setbacks. He is a No. 1 fantasy quarterback when he is healthy.

Colts | Andrew Luck not throwing

Wed, 25 Apr 2018 08:46:23 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is participating in every part of minicamp except throwing, according to head coach Frank Reich.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is a wild card in fantasy this year. He could wind up being a top-three option, but his health continues to a pressing issue.

Tue, 24 Apr 2018 10:28:28 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was present for the start of the team's veteran minicamp Tuesday, April 24, but he will not throw a football at any point - just as general manager Chris Ballard suggested would be the case a few days earlier.

Colts | Andrew Luck has not thrown football yet

Mon, 09 Apr 2018 11:09:46 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) said he has not thrown a regular football at this point because he does not want to skip any steps in his rehab. He said he trusts the process he is going through with his recovery.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to continue to monitor the situation to see if he will be ready for training camp or the regular season. He will be a risky option for fantasy owners but should be a No. 1 quarterback in all leagues if he is ready to play Week 1.

Colts | Andrew Luck throwing

Tue, 27 Mar 2018 05:08:28 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has begun throwing a football, according to head coach Frank Reich. Reich is optimistic Luck will cut it loose sometime this offseason, and it's clear he's trending in the right direction.

Fantasy Tip: Luck will be under consideration after the first few quarterbacks are taken, and you'll have to assess the risk versus the reward for the upper-middle QB1.

Colts | Andrew Luck making progress

Mon, 26 Mar 2018 21:50:06 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has "turned the corner," according to owner Jim Irsay, who added that "all indicators are (the) healing is going really well and we feel really optimistic." The "expectation" is that Luck will be on hand when the team begins their offseason conditioning program April 9.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking a little more likely Luck will be ready to open up next season, but then again, it still remains to be seen how effectively he can throw the football at this point. This is going to be one of the top storylines to monitor going into the summer, so it's still too early to determine if the former No. 1 overall draft pick can return to old form and be an elite fantasy QB1 once again.

Colts | Andrew Luck set for checkup

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 22:09:18 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is expected back in the team facility this week for a checkup. He has been working in California with quarterback gurus Tom House and Adam Dedeaux and the expectation is that he'll be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Yes, the club had this same stance around this point last year but after a full season off, things should be different this time around. There's still a lot more to follow pertaining to Luck's health, such as this upcoming checkup in Indianapolis, so it is obviously too early in the process to determine whether or not he'll be able to return to fantasy relevance next season. The ceiling is certainly high, though.

Colts | Andrew Luck on track for offseason program

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 12:05:58 -0800

Updating an ongoing story, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is on track to join the team's offseason program April 2, head coach Frank Reich said Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. Reich said Luck "checked every box."

Fantasy Tip: Good news, obviously. Luck has QB1 potential but has to be backed up with a legit fantasy starter. He will provide an intriguing risk-reward ADP in most scenarios.

Colts | Andrew Luck throwing weighted balls

Wed, 21 Feb 2018 05:47:16 -0800

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is throwing weighted balls, which are heavier than footballs, in his rehabilitation.

Fantasy Tip: Luck will carry some risk, but he confirmed a second surgery isn't on the table right now. He's worth taking as a QB1 if you miss out of on the first few.

Colts | Indy hopes to have Andrew Luck at OTAs

Tue, 20 Feb 2018 15:24:16 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is still rehabilitating his throwing shoulder, but head coach Frank Reich hopes his star quarterback is healthy enough to participate in organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Luck had a 2017 to forget under the vague protection of Jim Irsay and company. He should be able to return at full health this season and the new coaching staff should be a breath of fresh air. If he is 100% then he's worth the risk of drafting as a No. 1 fantasy quarterback again.

Colts | Andrew Luck excited about new offense

Thu, 15 Feb 2018 17:12:42 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck said he is excited about the offense head coach Frank Reich is bringing to the team. "That sounds great," Luck said. "I know all the best offenses that I've been a part of in my career we've not been static and we've attacked. And I'm sure he'll have a great flavor and we'll involve as many people as we can, and attacking defenses is what it's all about."

Fantasy Tip: Luck's status for the 2018 season is still in question, so owners need to monitor the situation during the offense. He is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL when he is healthy but will be a risky fantasy option. Luck can be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback if he is cleared, but owners may want a solid backup in case he misses time.

Colts | Andrew Luck meets with experts

Tue, 13 Feb 2018 13:32:15 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has met with throwing experts in California as part of his rehabilitation process, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Luck has not begun throwing yet, but he does appear to be close to making that next step in his recovery from a torn labrum.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has had plenty of time and has plenty more time to make a full recovery with his throwing shoulder. The Colts have been extra careful with their star quarterback in an effort to have him prepared for the 2018 season. Again, if he is full go he is worth drafting as a QB1 even following the serious injury and extensive recovery.

Colts | Indianapolis will have up-tempo offense

Tue, 13 Feb 2018 13:18:30 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck and company will implement a strong element of no huddle into their offensive game plans, according to new head coach Frank Reich. "We want to impose our will on the opponent," Reich said.

Fantasy Tip: That's all well and good, but Reich's offense will largely hinge on the health of Luck. With Luck returning and the Colts under a new regime, things are looking up. Assuming they are at full health, Luck and T.Y. Hilton are QB1 and WR1 candidates, respectively.

Colts | GM says no Andrew Luck surgery

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 08:28:27 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) doesn't require more surgery, according to general manager Chris Ballard. "He doesn't need surgery," Ballard said. "I've not gotten than from the two doctors. He's not throwing a football yet and is working on arm speed. He's not going to skip a step."

Fantasy Tip: Luck's availability is a big question mark again next season, and he could be an early backup option with big potential reward.

Colts | Concern Andrew Luck may need more surgery?

Tue, 06 Feb 2018 18:34:32 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) may not out of the woods yet regarding his right shoulder, as ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported "there still are doctors who have concerns about Luck's shoulder and whether he could wind up needing additional surgery."

Fantasy Tip: This is the most plausible explanation as to why Josh McDaniels had a change of heart about accepting the Colts' head coaching job, although that is pure speculation at this point. If this report turns out to be true, Indianapolis is going to be in a world of hurt again in 2018 despite the fact Jacoby Brissett actually held his own for the most part in his first season with the Colts. Until he actually resumes throwing, Luck's availability for next season cannot be taken for granted.

Colts | Andrew Luck close to throwing again

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 09:04:49 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is doing functional work - such as working on his motion and arm speed - to get strength back in the shoulder and is reportedly "very close" to throwing again, according to a source. He is also reportedly headed out to the Los Angeles area in the near future to work with noted throwing mechanics and strength gurus Tom House and Adam Dedeaux.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is hardly out of the woods yet, but there seems to be a great deal of optimism we won't see a repeat of 2017. Furthermore, it's unlikely Josh McDaniels would be taking the head coaching job in Indianapolis if he wasn't getting exceedingly positive feedback regarding the recovery. As long as Luck gets some work in this summer, he should be able to return to the QB1 ranks in 2018.

Colts | Andrew Luck will be back next year

Mon, 01 Jan 2018 13:55:40 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will be back "with a fierce fire in his eyes" in 2018, according to team owner Jim Irsay.

Fantasy Tip: Luck will have had two years to rest his injured shoulder, so one would assume he'll be full go for the 2018 season. His lack of playing time leading up to the season will certainly be a concern, but we know he can be a top-tier No. 1 fantasy quarterback when healthy.

Colts | Andrew Luck hopes to be ready for workouts

Sat, 30 Dec 2017 11:50:41 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) said he believes that he will be ready for the start of offseason workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor Luck's situation during the offseason to see if he will need another surgery on his shoulder. Luck is a solid No. 1 quarterback when he is healthy but may be a risky option for owners next season if he is still dealing with the injury.

Colts | Andrew Luck prepared to resume throwing

Fri, 29 Dec 2017 10:51:45 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) doesn't believe he will require another surgery and will begin to throw again in the near future, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: It should be interesting to see whether or not the Colts decide to keep Jacoby Brissett around as insurance for Luck, but there is no question Indianapolis missed its former No. 1 overall pick in 2017. Assuming he avoids any setbacks this spring and summer, Luck should be considered a top-eight fantasy quarterback option once again next season.

Colts | Andrew Luck to throw soon

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 09:02:55 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's (shoulder) rehab is going well, but he is scheduled to throw soon to see if there is still pain in his surgically-repaired shoulder when he throws, according to sources. He could undergo a corrective surgery in January if he does continue to feel pain but is optimistic that he will avoid surgery. He would be sidelined three to six months if he has another surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation during the offseason to see if Luck will be ready for the 2018 season. He is a No. 1 fantasy quarterback when he is healthy but be a risky option in drafts next season.

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 19:17:15 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has no additional surgeries planned at this point, according to owner Jim Irsay.

Colts | Rift brewing with Irsay and Andrew Luck?

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 07:29:05 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) could have a rift brewing with owner Jim Irsay, in the opinion of WTHR.com's Bob Kravitz. Former Colts head coach Tony Dungy told Dan Patrick during a commercial cut-in of his radio show that Irsay told him what he believes holding Luck back is more mental than it is physical. Dungy followed up with Irsay told him six weeks ago that the injury is in Luck's head now. Patrick brought up the fact that Irsay expected Luck back at the start of the season or early in the season, Dungy replied: "They obviously believed it because they did nothing to prepare for him not being there."

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 08:03:30 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will have his surgically repaired shoulder reevaluated in December. The Colts expect him to be ready for the 2018 season.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor Luck's progress during the offseason to see if he will be able to play next season. Luck is a No. 1 fantasy quarterback when he is healthy but will be a risky option in all leagues in 2018 because of the injury.

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 18:55:03 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's (shoulder) surgically repaired right shoulder "stopped getting better" about a week and a half ago, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL.com, and Luck was advised by doctors to stop throwing for a few months.

Colts | Andrew Luck will not play this season

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 10:41:32 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Nov. 2, effectively ending his 2017 season. Luck will cease throwing activities and will continue his rehabilitation. The ordeal is not career-ending and Luck is optimistic about his future.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a huge surprise since Luck hasn't even practiced this year and recently suffered a setback with his shoulder injury. Luck can officially be released in traditional leagues. Any hope in Luck returning this year was a false hope and the Colts' offense will be Jacoby Brissett's for the remainder of the season. Brissett is a solid under-the-radar start this week as the Colts may be forced to throw early and often to keep up with DeShaun Watson and the Houston Texans.

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 23:05:54 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is seeking more opinions to determine why his surgically repaired right shoulder hasn't healed as expected, according to a team source.

Fantasy Tip: It's been one step forward, two steps back for Luck since going under the knife, and the fact that he has already been ruled out from even practicing this week is yet another blow to the possibility of him playing again this season.

Colts | Andrew Luck's Week 9 status up in the air

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 10:26:24 -0700

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters Friday, Oct. 27, it is "too early to tell" whether or not QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will be able to resume practicing next week.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts have seemingly botched this situation from the start, giving fans and fantasy owners the impression he would be ready to go sometime after Week 1 when they didn't place him on the Reserve/Injured list. In doing so, they have wasted a roster spot for the entire season up to this point. Luck belongs on the waiver wire in most redraft leagues that do not have an IR spot, at least until he is able to put together a full week of practice.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will play if/when he is medically cleared this season regardless of the team's record, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: While there has been heavy speculation that the Colts would shut Luck down if the season got out of hand, Pagano said otherwise on Wednesday. There's still no timetable for Luck's return -- and he certainly could miss the entire season -- but the prospect that he could find his way back onto the field gives him some stash value.

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 14:00:13 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will not practice this week and will only participate in rehabilitation for his injured shoulder, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is expected to be out for quite some time still and could miss the whole season, so this isn't shocking. Sun, 22 Oct 2017 07:08:10 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) may be sidelined until December after he suffered a setback in his recovery from shoulder surgery last week, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Luck recently started to throw but is dealing with soreness in the shoulder and will have to work his way back again. Owners could still try to stash Luck if they have the roster space, but it looks like will not be a big factor for fantasy owners. Jacoby Brissett will continue to start of the Colts but is only a low-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Colts | Andrew Luck could miss rest of season

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 17:49:04 -0700

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) potentially missing the rest of the season wouldn't be a surprise, according to Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star, "based on what we heard (Wednesday, Oct. 18)."

Fantasy Tip: Those who drafted the former No. 1 overall pick as their fantasy quarterback this season had to expect a lengthy absence, but certainly not one that would sideline Luck for the entire year. It's a tough break, but that's the baggage that can come with drafting someone that is already severely injured. Jacoby Brissett has looked mostly serviceable in his absence, though he's more of an option for deeper leagues.

Colts | Andrew Luck regresses in recovery

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 13:43:58 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has developed soreness in his surgically repaired shoulder. He was given a cortisone shot and will rest this week. There is no timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Not too sound too poetic, but UGH. The frustrations with Luck and his long-awaited return will not cease. The good news is that Luck's replacement, Jacoby Brissett, has held his own as the Colts' starter. That being said, Brissett should only be started in quality matchups and/or as a bye-week replacement.
