Colts | Andrew Luck moving up the charts

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 20:05:06 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck completed 22 of his 28 pass attempts for 278 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 13 game against the New York Jets Monday, Dec. 5. He was lifted early in the fourth quarter with a lopsided score. Before leaving Luck moved into sole possession of third place for the franchise's all-time touchdown passes list.

Fantasy Tip: Luck had a very successful return from concussion, hooking up with TE Dwayne Allen for three of his four touchdown strikes. He nearly had a fifth scoring pass near the end of the first half, but TE Jack Doyle stretched for the pylon, fumbled before the ball crossed the plane, and it ended up going out of the end zone for a touchback. Needless to say, Luck is back and a safe fantasy play for all owners into Week 14.

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) was a full participant in practice Saturday, Dec. 3, and he has been removed from the injury report.

Colts | Andrew Luck passes protocol

Sat, 03 Dec 2016 11:06:25 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) has been cleared through the NFL concussion protocol and will start Monday, Dec. 5, at the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: New York is a statistically difficult matchup using data from the last five weeks. Quarterbacks have averaged the second fewest fantasy points in this time when facing the Jets, and all of the major stat columns fall in the bottom eight. Luck is a low-end starter this week.

Colts | Full practice for Andrew Luck

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 18:54:11 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder, concussion) was a full participant in practice Friday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has to clear concussion protocol, but if he suits up in Week 13, he should be starting in all formats against the vulnerable secondary of the New York Jets.

Colts | Andrew Luck still in concussion protocol

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 10:40:57 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) is scheduled to visit an independent neurologist Friday, Dec. 2, in what should be his final hurdle in order to be cleared to play against the New York Jets in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts waived third-string quarterback Stephen Morris earlier this week, so they expect Luck to be on the field Monday against the Jets. Luck has practiced all week, which is further proof he should receive good news today. His return is obviously good news for the entire offense, especially Donte Moncrief and T.Y. Hilton, assuming the latter can make enough progress from his back injury over the weekend.

Colts | Andrew Luck practicing Thursday

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 09:09:58 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Luck appears to be on track to play against the New York Jets but still needs to be cleared by doctors to play. He has thrown for eight touchdowns and four interceptions in his last four games but has thrown for at least 250 yards in five of his last six games. Luck should be a decent No. 1 quarterback in most leagues this week.

Colts | Andrew Luck remains in protocol

Wed, 30 Nov 2016 08:57:28 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: He's still expected to be ready for this week against the New York Jets. The Jets have been the second-best against the QB position over the last five weeks. If you have Luck, you start him. However, if you're playing DFS, it might be a week to pass on him.

Colts | Andrew Luck likely to return in Week 13

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 09:22:33 -0800

Updating a previous story, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) reported he feels "100 percent" after practice Monday, Nov. 28. Head coach Chuck Pagano later told reporters he anticipates Luck returning in Week 13 to face the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: While Scott Tolzien played at an acceptable level for most of the Colts' Week 12 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the offense needs Luck in order to have a chance to make a run for the playoffs. The Jets have improved against the pass in recent weeks, but Luck will be a high-end QB1 in that matchup assuming T.Y. Hilton can heal up enough from his back injury to play.

Colts | Andrew Luck practicing

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 08:06:49 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) is practicing Monday, Nov. 28.

Fantasy Tip: The New York Jets have been one of the toughest matchups for QBs the last five weeks. Luck is expected back, but he'll have his hands full as a midrange QB1 option.

Colts | Andrew Luck to miss Week 12

Wed, 23 Nov 2016 12:41:39 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 23, and has been ruled out for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Scott Tolzien will be the starting quarterback for the Colts against the Pittsburgh Steelers and should be avoided in all leagues. Tolzien will also affect the value of Colts receivers, but they can still be starting options in most leagues because of the matchup.

Colts | T.Y. Hilton was told Andrew Luck won't play

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 15:53:05 -0800

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton said the team learned in a meeting that QB Andrew Luck (concussion) "would not play" Thursday, Nov. 24, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: It hasn't been officially declared just yet but an announcement seems inevitable at this point that Luck won't be suiting up in Week 12. With Scott Tolzien likely to start under center, the entire Colts offense will be downgraded as a result, which is just unfortunate at such a crucial juncture in the fantasy season. Additionally, the Steelers defense will receive a big boost with Luck out, as they figure to be one the top streaming options for the upcoming slate.

Colts | Andrew Luck not spotted at practice

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 09:54:03 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) did not practice Tuesday, Nov. 22 - the team's final practice prior to hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: It's nearly impossible for any player to pass through concussion protocol on a short week, so the odds are great Scott Tolzien will be under center Thanksgiving night against the Steelers. Luck's absence would obviously be a serious downgrade for every-week fantasy starters such as T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief. Risky as it might be, the Pittsburgh defense/special teams unit has some serious streamer appeal as well.

Colts | Andrew Luck unlikely for Thursday?

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 19:04:47 -0800

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) is in the concussion protocol. Beat writer Zak Keefer considers it highly unlikely Luck will be able to play Thursday, Nov. 24, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Nearly 50 percent of NFL players are back on the field within five days of concussion, but the short week doesn't help Luck and the Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Luck would need to pass a baseline exam, practice without any symptoms, have had a juicy matchup against the Steelers, but fantasy owners should make other plans. Scott Tolzien would make the start if Luck cannot go.

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 16:24:23 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 21. As reported earlier, Luck is in the concussion protocol.

Colts | Andrew Luck in concussion protocol

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 15:12:35 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) is in the concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Being cleared to play in time for Thursday night's game could now be a real challenge for Luck as concussions are tricky to be cleared from in today's NFL. Be prepared to have a backup plan ready in case Luck can't go on a short week. Scott Tolzien would start if Luck can't go, but he's not starter material in the fantasy realm.

Colts | Andrew Luck ready to play

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 13:27:42 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Luck threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns in his last game against the Tennessee Titans, but he has thrown three touchdowns and three interceptions in the last two games. He should still be a starting quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

Colts | Andrew Luck limited Thursday

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 15:13:35 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited at practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: There's no cause for concern here, as this has seemingly been standard protocol for the former No. 1 overall draft pick this season. He's been practicing on Thursdays on a limited basis all year, and this will not affect his status as a QB1 in his Week 11 matchup opposite Tennessee.

Colts | Andrew Luck doesn't do much

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 21:01:47 -0800

Indianapolis Colts WR Andrew Luck completed 23 of his 36 pass attempts for 281 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers. He also rushed seven times for 15 yards.

Fantasy Tip: It was a bit of a disappointing game for Luck from a fantasy perspective, as the Packers secondary was awfully beaten up coming into play and he managed just the one score and under 300 yards. Fantasy owners will need a replacement for Luck in Week 10 with the team on a bye.

Fri, 04 Nov 2016 14:33:55 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has thrown at least two touchdown passes in four of his last five games and has four 300-yard games this season. He will be facing a banged up Green Bay Packers secondary and should be an attractive starting option for owners.

Colts | Andrew Luck limited

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 13:28:17 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 3, with a right shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: Luck wasn't on the injury report yesterday, so his status will need to be monitored, especially considering the ailment is to his throwing shoulder. Luck has toughed it out throughout his career, though, and should still play. He's a QB1 in a potential shootout with the Green Bay Packers.

Colts | Andrew Luck up and down in loss

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 14:39:35 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck was 19-for-35 for 210 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, Oct. 30, in a 30-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Luck also had nine rushes for 60 yards but fumbled once and threw an interception.

Fantasy Tip: Even Luck admitted his struggles, which may have been more a product of Kansas City's defense than anything else. Still, when Luck is your leading rusher it raises questions about the running game. Luck will get you fantasy points in most any situation, but the team's playoff health remains in doubt.

Colts | Andrew Luck should play in Week 8

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 16:35:19 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (ankle, shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has thrown at least one touchdown in every game this season and has four 300-yard games in seven weeks. He should be a No. 1 quarterback in all leagues even though he will be facing a solid Kansas City Chiefs defense.

Colts | Andrew Luck has limited practice

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 13:39:36 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder, ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Luck will play this week as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. He has a solid matchup versus the Kansas City Chiefs, too. Even when hurt, Luck has proven that he can achieve QB1 status. Play him as such in Week 8.

Colts | Andrew Luck strong against Titans

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 14:34:03 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns, including a go-ahead strike to WR Jack Doyle with less than two minutes to go, in a 34-26 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has never lost to the Titans, so why start now? Luck is a QB1 for sure despite his injury struggles in recent years, but he is an absolute must start against the Titans.

Colts | Limited practice for Andrew Luck

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 15:18:36 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (ankle, shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Luck had a full practice yesterday, so the regression is something to be alert of. He has dealt with more than his fair share of injuries throughout his career, though, so it would be surprising to see him sit this week. Luck is a low-end QB1 in Week 7 as the Tennessee Titans have not treated quarterbacks well so far this season.

Colts | Andrew Luck fully practices

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 14:11:25 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (ankle) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has had a rough start to the 2016 season, and the Tennessee Titans are no vacation. They've been one of the better pass defenses in the NFL, allowing just six interceptions while picking off the same amount of passes. Luck should still be started, but he could be in for another long day.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Friday, Oct. 14, and he was not listed on the injury report.

Colts | Andrew Luck limited at practice

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 15:42:24 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited at practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: This seems to be par for the course for the former No. 1 overall draft pick, as he's been limited at seemingly every Thursday practice. Regardless, Luck should be fired up as a QB1 this week, just as owners normally would do.

Colts | Andrew Luck on pace to take 64 sacks

Tue, 11 Oct 2016 10:14:24 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck was sacked five times in Week 5 versus the Chicago Bears after absorbing six sacks against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4. He has been sacked a NFL-high 20 times, putting him on pace for 64 - a total which would be the fourth-highest single-season mark in league history.

Fantasy Tip: The most sacks Luck has taken in any season was 41 in his rookie year of 2012, although he missed nine games last year. The Colts have some building blocks on their offensive line with Anthony Castonzo at left tackle, Jack Mewhort at left guard and rookie Ryan Kelly at center, but the right side has been mostly abysmal. Luck deserves his share of the blame for occasionally holding onto the ball too long, but this is a problem Indianapolis is going to have to fix if it wants to keep Luck around all season.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck completed 28 of his 39 pass attempts for 322 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 5 game against the Chicago Bears. He also ran five times for 13 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Luck had his third 300-yard game and third multi-touchdown game of the season. He has re-emerged as a top-notch fantasy option after his injury-marred 2015 season.

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 14:52:07 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has posted solid numbers over the first four weeks of the season but his offensive line has struggled to protect him. He will have a favorable matchup this week and should be a starting option in all leagues.

Colts | Andrew Luck limited Thursday

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 14:08:24 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Luck wasn't listed on the injury report earlier this week, so this is somewhat concerning. The injury is to his throwing shoulder, too, so monitoring Luck's status this weekend will be imperative. The Chicago Bears have been relatively tough against quarterbacks in 2016, allowing just 220.5 passing yards per game. A limited Luck versus a tough pass defense is a bit worrisome, but he's still a borderline QB1.

Colts | Andrew Luck has solid outing

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 10:05:24 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck went 27-for-42 for 234 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has thrown eight touchdowns and three interceptions in the first four games of the season and should continue to post solid numbers as long as he can stay healthy. He should be a weekly starting candidate for fantasy owners.

Colts | Andrew Luck needs to stay on field

Sat, 01 Oct 2016 14:39:42 -0700

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) needs to do a better job protecting himself so he can stay on the field this season. "He has to understand - and he learned from the Denver game - the importance of staying on the field. I think honing his game is the key. There isn't any sort of chronic shoulder injury or something like that," Irsay said.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has dealt with injuries in the past but has stayed healthy so far this season. Luck has played well in the first three games of the season and should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues as long as he is staying healthy.

Colts | Andrew Luck limited in practice

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 12:13:14 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Friday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Luck practiced in full yesterday, but this could just be a case of the Colts managing their franchise quarterback's reps for the week. Either way, he's a QB1 with a delicious matchup on tap for Week 4 versus the Jaguars.

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 13:57:47 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 07:59:03 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will play in Week 3's game against the San Diego Chargers, even though he is listed as questionable on the injury report, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. He was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 23, after practicing on a limited basis Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has a very favorable matchup versus San Diego and should be viewed as a solid QB1 option in all formats. The Chargers have allowed 649 passing yards and four touchdowns through their first two contests.

Colts | Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton limited Thursday

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 14:49:46 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) and WR T.Y. Hilton (knee) were limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Usually when players are limited this "early" in the week they end up playing that weekend. Luck and Hilton both have a good matchup on paper, although Hilton could be shadowed by one of the best cornerbacks in the game in Jason Verrett. Tempering expectations for Hilton in such a case would be advised, but he's still a WR2 consideration, while Luck remains in QB1 territory.

Colts | No practice for Andrew Luck

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 12:59:46 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 21, because he is still nursing a sore shoulder and coaches and trainers wanted to provide him an additional day of rest.

Fantasy Tip: Luck lands in a prime matchup for a bounce-back showing in Week 3. The San Diego Chargers have allowed the fourth most passing yards (649) in the league and four touchdowns through the first two games of the season. Monitor Luck's progress leading into Sunday, but as long as he's active, he's a strong fantasy option.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck targeted TE Dwayne Allen and TE Jack Doyle a combined 10 times in Week 1, resulting in eight completions for 88 yards and three touchdowns, and Luck said he wants to attack defenses in multiple ways this season.

Colts | Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton practice in full

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 12:59:55 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) got in a full practice Friday, September 16, after being limited in the previous day's session. Additionally, WR T.Y. Hilton (knee) returned to practice after not practicing on Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Regardless of their status from earlier in the week, both will be fine for the Colts' Week 2 tilt. Luck posted monster numbers in the opener at Detroit, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him continue to provide QB1 production from here on out. Meanwhile, although Hilton didn't score in Week 1, he still had a solid showing with six catches for 79 yards on a healthy 12 targets. He's a desirable WR2 with WR1 potential.

Colts | Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton on injury report

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 14:06:50 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (knee) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 15, while QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited with a right shoulder ailment. Neither had been on the injury report earlier this week.

Fantasy Tip: The extent, cause and severity of these injuries were not disclosed, but it's alarming for players to show up on an injury report later in the week. In Luck's case, however, the Colts may just be limiting his reps before gameday. He and Hilton both face a tough test in the Denver Broncos this week, and their fantasy value already takes a dip because of that. They're definitely both still startable as long as they're playing, but look for updates on their statuses this weekend.

Colts | Andrew Luck limited Thursday

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 16:53:18 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, September 8.

Fantasy Tip: Although Luck has been limited in practice the past couple of days, owners can still safely fire him up with confidence for Week 1, as the team's opener with the Detroit Lions should likely produce a lot of points. Obviously, Luck will be one of the main reasons for that.
