If Oakland Athletics 3B Scott Sizemore (knee) is out for an extended period of time, INFs Josh Donaldson, Adam Rosales, Eric Sogard and Wes Timmons would be under consideration to get playing time at third base. Options in free agency would include Wes Helms (Braves), Felipe Lopez (Brewers) and Miguel Tejada (Giants). Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim INF Alberto Callaspo is believed to be available, although Oakland is unlikely to give up any significant prospects to acquire him.

The Oakland Athletics reassigned OF Matt Carson and IF Wes Timmons to the team's minor league camp Wednesday, March 30, reports Eric Gilmore, of MLB.com.

The Oakland Athletics have invited 20 non-roster players to spring training, according to MLB.com's Jane Lee. Among those on the invitation list are OF's Matt Carson, Jai Miller and Michael Choice; C's Anthony Recker and Max Stassi, SS Grant Green, 2B Jemile Weeks, 3B's Wes Timmons and Andy LaRoche, SS Josh Horton; RP's Fernando Cabrera, Vinnie Chulk, Gabe DeHoyos and Willie Eyre; and P's Joe Bateman, Danny Farquhar and Yadel Marti.
