Seattle Mariners P Yoervis Medina has thrown well for Cardenales de Lara of the Venezuelan Winter League. He worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings last week to lower his ERA to 2.40 in 30 innings over 27 appearances.

The Seattle Mariners signed 18 players to one-year contracts Monday, Feb. 27, including C Jesus Montero and Justin Smoak. The others signed were Ps Blake Beavan, Steve Delabar, Lucas Luetge, Yoervis Medina, Hector Noesi, Mauricio Robles and Chance Ruffin, Cs John Jaso and Adam Moore, INFs Alex Liddi, Francisco Martinez, Kyle Seager and Carlos Triunfel and OFs Johermyn Chavez, Chih-Hsien Chiang and Carlos Peguero. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

The Seattle Mariners cut two players from the spring roster Sunday, March 13, according to The Tacoma News-Tribune's Ryan Divish. RP Yoervis Medina was optioned to Class A High Desert, while SP Blake Beavan was reassigned to minor league camp.
