Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura gave SS Leury Garcia the start in the leadoff spot Monday, May 12, in order to try to find an offensive spark for the team, and the skipper said he wants to get Garcia more at-bats, even if it means moving some players around or benching OF Moises Sierra, who is .364 (8-for-22) in his first six games with the team.
Fantasy Tip: Take note if you are in need of some speed in AL-only leagues.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Colby Rasmus (hamstring) is out of action Tuesday, April 15. The hamstring injury appears more serious than initially believed.
Fantasy Tip: Rasmus has been clicking of late, but his owners will want to watch this. Expect Moises Sierra to start against righty Phil Hughes unless a roster move is made.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Moises Sierra and C Erik Kratz are in good position to make the club as bench options. Sierra has an advantage over OF Anthony Gose because Sierra is out of options and hits right-handed, which would complement DH Adam Lind for platoon duties. Melky Cabrera would be the backup center fielder if Sierra makes the club. Kratz is beating out C Josh Thole because he's been SP R.A. Dickey's primary receiver. Still, the backup backstop competition probably will last until the end of camp.
Fantasy Tip: Sierra is an intriguing AL-only dice roll because of his power-speed mix. Gose's speed could be just as useful for hopeful, cautious bidders.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Moises Sierra will receive many chances to prove himself against left-handed pitchers this spring, as he is out of minor league options. Sierra has hit .264 in 90 career at-bats against lefties and .244 in 164 at-bats against righties. He could win a job as the fourth outfielder or right-handed designated hitter this spring.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Moises Sierra appears to be the early favorite to platoon with 1B Adam Lind next season. Lind is expected to see a bulk of the starts against right-handed pitching, and there is a need for someone to fill the role against left-handed pitching vacated by OF Mark DeRosa (Retired). Sierra recently started taking grounders at first base. Since he is out of options, a platoon with Lind appears to be the only way he could stick with the organization. "Sierra could be that guy," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Friday, Dec. 6.
